Probably the worst Mexican I have ever had! We walked in at 5:30 and were the only ones in the place. We thought maybe it was just too early. At 7:30 when we left the door never opened. We had to order chips and salsa, only to find out you pay for them. And for each basket of chips. My Co worker ordered queso for himself but when they split the check, without asking she split the question between the 3 of us. I ordered street tacos. It comes with 4 plus beans and rice. Normally this is meat with almost no juice, corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. When i picked up the first one water/ juice poured out of it, the second had so much it fell apart at the fold when I picked it up. The beans and rice were little more than a tablespoon each. When I asked for my drink to be refilled she made no apology about having just poured it out. I mean we were the only ones there, keep up. There appear to be a lot of Mexican places around. I am sad to say that this place was JUST ok. The space is decorated like a traditional Mexican Restaurant. The live band was a nice touch. They were having their grand opening, under the new name. The special was two free tacos. I chose the carnitas. The meat was finely shredded with no fat (Therefore no flavor), juice or seasoning. I was dissapointed in my free tacos lol. Which is tuff! I had the Chorizo dip, which was chorizo in queso blanco, and the only thing that threw me was that it was watery, (so was the salsa)... WHICH I waited until it cooled to see if it would thicken and it did not lol. I added salsa verde and rojo to the dip to add flavor (Neither of which were hot just medium... NOTED because I asked for habenero and was told by 2 servers "Oh the red is spicy..." "Oh the green is hot right?!" (Side Eye))The chips were nice crispy and fresh, they came out hot and the skinny margarita is their fresh margarita which I flavored mango... Pretty good. You can also take drinks togo... Wink... Don't drink and drive kids!... Anywhoooo... The service was meh. I could say it was because it was the grand opening... But it was early so it wasn't busy... I ordered the Veggie taco platter with the beans and rice platter and it was delicious. I got it with a soft taco which I would recommend. The taco is super creamy with refried beans and lots of guac, very basic ingredients. This meal will fill you up and leave you feeling not sluggish after. We invited Chuy's Tacos (Truck) to participate in our massive school community event that draws thousands of attendees every year. We were excited to support a local business whose owners' children are school alumni, believing they would be proud to give back to the school that helped raise their own family. We did not charge a vendor fee, and only asked that they donate 10 meals to feed our hardworking student volunteers who coordinated and ran the event. Instead of honoring this agreement, when approached, they claimed they "didn't know what we were talking about," refused to feed our students, and the staff at their booth were rude to my students who tried to clarify the situation. This left me scrambling in the middle of a huge community event to order emergency pizzas so my volunteers wouldn't go hungry. What should have been a positive collaboration between our school and a local family business turned into a frustrating, disappointing experience that reflected a complete lack of professionalism, integrity, and community spirit. Given their alumni connection and that they were highly suggested by staff members, this lack of care was especially disheartening. I would not recommend partnering with or hiring Chuy's Tacos for any school, family, or community event. read more

I should have known that when I walk into a completely empty Mexican restaurant at 12:10 PM, there's something wrong! This is a very over-priced, under delivered restaurant! First of all, who has to pay for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant?!? OK, set that aside for now. The chicken tortilla soup was overly salted, something my husband never complains about, but boy did he complain about this! My taco was served in a soft tortilla that was soaked in grease, such that I couldn't eat it with my hand, I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The rice and beans that came with my classic taco "plate" arrived jammed together in a bowl. I'm pretty sure the rice was some type of parboiled rice and the beans were also super salty like the soup. On top of all of this, the check came and had an additional charge called "Advantage Plan." We wanted something quick because we were starving and we aren't fast foodies. Taqueria Del Mar worked out perfectly. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was right on the spot taking our drink order and getting our appetizer going right away. The quesadilla with chicken and various tacos were fresh and delicious. Went here on a Wednesday bc my friend had a coupon. I got the Tres Amigos Enchiladas ($14) and traded the cheese for another brisket. My friend got three tacos including the skinny shrimp (which had a lettuce wrap instead of tortilla). We shared a pitcher of frozen margs (free with the coupon). Wooo those were strong and good but with only two of us we have about 3/4 to the table next to us haha. My food was VERY good. The chicken enchilada was my favorite and you get complimentary chips and salsa. There's plenty of parking out front as it's in a strip mall. So sad. Went back on day where it seemed like the owner was not there and was served absolute trash. The tortillas for the tacos fell apart as you picked them up. The meat was disgusting and my dish was inedible. It went from the place I was hoping to be my local Mexican to a place where I'm totally grossed out by. I was pleasantly surprised during my first visit to Taqueria Del Mar. We just missed the cutoff time of 2pm to dine from the lunch menu. Our server was friendly and invited us to sit anywhere we like. Chips and salsa came out quickly and our beverage orders were taken. I had the nachos with thinly sliced steak, refried beans, with guacamole and pico de Gallo on the side. The steak was fairly tender and had good flavor. Since the dinner size serving is large enough to share be warned if you order it. The other meal was a chicken quesadilla which was ok. Our dessert was a homemade ice cream which had a very good taste without being too sweet or creamy. Overall, it was a good dining experience with Taqueria Del Mar. I would have liked more flavor and tenderness, but our meal was still enjoyable. read more

I just moved in this area and had high hopes for this place as it is right next to us. Two stars for the server doing his best, he did everything right. Food was almost inedible. The red salsa was really salty. I managed to eat most of the bland pork shoulder, as I was super hungry and had to eat something. We walked in right at 9pm to a sign that says "seat yourself" so we scan the menu and start walking to a table! We were then "greeted" by a man who said "we're closed, we are usually open until 10 but there haven't been very many people here tonight so we're closing early" We obviously walked out. The light snow started falling this evening, and we wanted tasty food close to home. It took us no time at all to settle on Taqueria del Mar. We arrived on the early side, probably around 6 pm. We found a seat right away, but by the time we left, there was a short wait for seating. Tonight, I ordered the short rib taco and the pork shoulder taco with a combination of rice and beans. The short rib taco was the stand out for me - perfectly savory and flavorful. The pork shoulder was good, too, with fruit giving it a nice twist. The rice and refried beans were a great side. My husband's charro beans were even better, with a great smoky flavor. He says the oyster po'boy taco was his favorite of the night. Great, attentive service. Casual, fun vibe. Stopped by this little MEXICAN joint in Johns creek/Duluth to grab lunch to go. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and gave me ice water w lemon and chips n salsa while I waited for my order. Got cheese dip and a chicken fajitas quesadilla. Got jalapeños on the side. It was good but the chicken wasn't great that's my only issue with not giving it a "5 star review"... I Admit I'm picky about chicken it was sort of hard and cut into long pieces not warm and chunk/diced pieces. Not a huge deal but that's my only issue. I love this place! I am a regular who orders texas margaritas with extra gala. They serve the BEST margaritas in peachtree corners! They are always frozen to perfection, have just the right amount of ingredients and they serve more than what you ask for. The employees are the best part. I always have amazing service, quickly seated, served, and followed up on. Victor has been our server and his personality and professionalism are superb! So I went here with some friends on a Tuesday night because she had a coupon or something. It was only 20% off but it gave us an excuse to drink. We walked in and everything was cool and we placed an order for queso to go along with the chips and salsa. The chips were good and warm but they don't put that many in a basket so we kept having to get refills, but the server was not attentive enough. Also the queso I ordered was extremely runny. Like it was more like watered cheese or something because I could barely keep any on a tortilla. Every dip was a balancing act so I didn't spill the watery dip on myself. Now there's a lot of things on the menu that seems good but what stood out to me that was cool was that they have an all day breakfast menu you can choose from. I was vegetarian for the month so I had to be very picky and ask questions about the food and unfortunately the servers could not answer my questions. One was new, so I let that pass but then the one she asked didn't know and they had to ask the chef. That bothered me a bit but I let it pass and whatnot. We ordered a pitcher while I was deciding and it was decent. It was a lime flavor but I will say it had a unique taste. Like it was not bad or anything but it was definitely different from any margarita I've ever had. I ended ordering breakfast quesadilla and they were really good but I was slightly underwhelmed by what I got. I genuinely didn't know what to expect but I think it might've been the portion size that left me underwhelmed, but it was delicious. All in all I would say this restaurant is just okay. Like it is genuinely 3 stars. It's not a bad place to eat but it's not an omg lets go here to eat, type of place as well.
