Tucked in the back of the store, with a hot bar and amazing taco menu, these tacos were the best I have had in Charlotte. I do not speak Spanish (every other customer did) and they were so welcoming to me and my friend. Everyday taco special is 3 for $5. We went on a Saturday so the special was Asada. Delicious! The birria tacos were really yummy too, 3 for $10. If just ordering tacos, 4 tacos was the perfect amount for me. Next time will try the soup and pupusas! Order at the counter, wait for your food, they give you a receipt and you bring it up to the front cash register to pay. read more

A tasty taco spot that's almost a speakeasy! Los Reyes #2 from its facade looks like a convenient store, but like many other delicious taco places, it's hidden in the back. As you step in you can smell the delicious aromas from the front door. There's a small menu hung above a doorway and a glass window where several delectable delights await. The best part is that they have taco specials throughout the week! My favorite tacos were the Al pastor. Not what I've had in Mexico, but pretty good for being back in the states. They also sell large amounts to take home for family meals and there's tamales! The folks working were so nice! You'll have to be patient to place an order as they are cooking up magic in the back. This is also a great opportunity to practice your Spanish, as it seems preferred. While you wait there's plenty of yummy snacks and a whole dairy fridge to consider taking home. They also sell tortillas from Milagros. My personal favorite. Pair that with some oaxacan cheese and you'll have a yummy quesadilla. Lots of future meals to daydream about. After you get your order you'll pay at the front! Definitely worth a stop if you're in independence or shopping at Super G! It's right across the street. read more

Quaint little place with Great food. Great service. I got the 3 tacos asada and a large plate for later. The tacos had a good amount of meat and a great price. For the plate, I had the black bean rice, the black beans, beef, pork, and tortillas (instead of plantains). Everything was very good, but the pork and the black beans stood out. The beans were seasoned and very flavorful. Usually I prefer beef over pork, but the pork was wow. I would definitely recommend to others and will be back. read more

I'm so glad I found this place. Little bit of a hole in the wall place but the food is outstanding. They have a daily special for 4 tacos. It's kinda silly how inexpensive if is. I have been ordering lunch at this establishment every other week for the past 8 weeks. I'm amazed how tasty everything is each time I get a meal. The hot sauce is homemade like everything on the menu. It's really tasty but super spicy. I added a bit to much the first time in and learned my lesson. This hispanic market has a hidden jewel inside ! There is a Taqueria in the back that has the best Mexican food around. Burritos, Tacos and the likes. Call in to go orders around lunchtime as the blue collar crowd is here dining and there is a line. . There are about six tables for dine in, nothing fancy, but genuine Mexican grub ! Be sure to pick up a real Coca cola while you're there. Imported, made with real cane sugar, not the artificial crap. Any Latino groceries you need will be readily available also. This is the worst place ever! Besides the store stinks, their customer service sucks! We had to wait around 20 minutes for the lady to hang up the phone. Apparently she was too busy talking with her "comadre". Not happy with that, she was aggressive and mean while taking care of what we needed. YUUMM!!! This our favorite spot for authentic northern Mexican food. The tacos are FREASH and sooo delicious. Its a party in my mouth with each bite. I get upset when I get full because I just want to keep tasting! It's not fancy. You won't get chips/salsa at the table and the menu is posted on the wall. But they are so sweet and accommodating to what you want. And everything is made to order. I love their tacos de carne asada. I can't eat more than 3-they come STUFFED w meat, onion, and cilantro and come w red and green salsas. They have white and yellow rice and 3 types of beans. The kitchen is VERY clean.
