Here I am again in a very relaxed ambiance eating a delicious breakfast home style Chilaquiles with Eggs and carne Asada at very affordable prices in the city of Downey. Every time I have a chance to enjoy a delicious meal here I enjoy it the maximum. I give it out of . You could ask them spicy or very mild to your taste. I recommend them to my friends and family. They also have Caldos (Soups) and many more delicious homemade style dishes for the whole family and different tastes.

Good food but there was hair all thru my salsa everytime I dipped a chip in it it came bacc out with hair strings

    Lime margarita ($8.25) & Michelada w/Pacifico ($8.25) 5/11/20

Cancer recently took the life of a dear sweet friend of mine. On Mother's Day actually. She was 36-years-young and left behind a husband and 6-year-old daughter. Of course I sobbed hard about it, then my own daughters, ages 5 and 6 asked if I was okay... and reminded me that they were hungry. Lol. Life is beautiful! Los Sombreros was on Postmates. Delivery is available for margaritas (strawberry or lime) and Micheladas (one or two beers) upon ID check. Our order came to our door really fast (5/11/20). Like only a half hour for the following: + Kid combo - cheese enchilada & fries $9.25... she gobbled most of it up + #13 flautas con guacamole (chicken or beef) $12.75... hubby really liked the moist chicken with the crispy outer fried tortilla plus they omitted the sour cream as requested + two shrimp tacos $6.75... our first-born requested these and didn't give me a chance to try them. Not a single leftover smaller-sized shrimp. + Cameron's al mojo de ajo $15.25... this was savory and comforting. The larger shrimp was a bit cold and slightly overcooked, but still good & flavorful. It came on a bed of rice, a side of seasoned fries, and a small salad along with my choice of two tortillas. Definitely recommend the flour ones, but wish I could have tried their corn too. Filling meal. + lime margarita $8.25... this came salted, sealed and frozen-style, however, it was pretty good (hubby let me try it - he's learning finally. Lol.) + Michelada $8.25 for one choice of beer. I went for Pacifico which was delivered ice cold. Two beers is also an option, but I already had my at-home tequila buzz going in honor of the aforementioned friend. Takeout is also available during the COVID-19 quarantine. Please support small businesses & family-owned restaurants like this one especially at this time.

    Chips, salsa and XX!

Decided to give Los Sombreros a try. Came well after dinner rush, so there were only 3 other tables with guests when I walked in. Was greeted quickly and asked for XX, when I received my cerveza it was good and cold. Placed my order for #14 plate, Chicken Mole, Beans & Rice with four tortillas. (came with also a small salad with thousand island dressing) When I received my food it was piping hot. And was pretty darn good. If you decide to try this plate, be prepared it's spicy. But I like it that way. Waitress also let me know it was spicy, which was fine. Waitress was attentive and nice. Since I went after "dinner" time/rush I have no idea how service would be then during the dinner rush. Can only comment for period I was there. The salsa that came with the chips was really good. I'm a person that never give full stars, where it may be deserved. But my theory is, there is always room for improvement. I don't have anything bad to say about Los Sombreros. My 4 stars should be 4.5, as the .5 is the part where there is always room for improvement. Restaurant was nice and clean, seats/booths were not worn. I didn't make a trip to the restroom, but from the appearance of the interior I trust the mens restroom was clean. I'll definitely go back. And try another plate. Cheers!

This place is terrible. Food was cold I asked the waitress if she can heat it up and gave me attitude. I kept my cool didn't want to start shit. Plus I was really hungry. When the waitress came back with my food the plate was hot and the food was still cold. I had a choice to leave but I was really hungry. So I ate the enchiladas I was so disappointed. This was the a lot to come and eat good food back in the day.

    Tacos and Chile rellenos
    Al M.

Not only did they make me get a stomach ache but both Chile Rellenos had to be the worst tasting canned Chile Rellenos I've ever eaten. Cool literally just stuffed cheese into some canned Chiles and added some canned tomato sauce. No salt no flavor and no eggs or breading on Chile Rellenos. Wow talk about cafeteria food I can't believe how bad the food here is. Should have known when I walked in on a Friday night and nobody was eating inside. I give them an F and if you want good Mexican tacos don't come here go to Gavilan across the street. Maybe I'll try them another day but my stomach hurts so bad from their badly cooked food.

I waited a half hour for iceberg lettuce and cold dry chicken. The server Maria was especially rude. The restaurant was dead and the food took so long. Maria was nice to everyone... but only the Mexicans. Racism is real!

    Mojarra Frita,

I don't care what anyone say. I love eating here. Almost everything I've tried is delicious.. I have not yet been disappointed..

They don't cheap out on drinks or food, and the quality is consistently great. Portions are generous, and you get far more sides and extras here than at most Mexican restaurants in the area. The staff of ladies who work here are phenomenal--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. There is only one older gentleman I've seen be rude to customers, but aside from that single exception, the service is excellent across the board. I judge Mexican restaurants heavily based on how they make a Cadillac margarita, and this place absolutely delivers. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is perfectly cooked, plentiful, and clearly made with care. For me, this restaurant is a solid five out of five. It's one of those spots that deserves far more credit than it gets. If you're looking for quality, authenticity, and great value, it's worth a visit.

The meal started with complimentary chips served alongside both a sweet mole and a savory, tangy mole sauce. It was something I'd never experienced before, and it was incredibly delicious. I ordered the chicken enmoladas, and they were generously stuffed with chicken and smothered in rich, flavorful mole. Every bite tasted authentic, comforting, and incredibly satisfying. For dessert, our waiter recommended the plantains in tequila sauce paired with a café de olla. They were so amazing that we completely devoured the dessert before I even remembered to take a picture! As first-time visitors, my guests and I were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food, the authentic flavors, and the warm service. Service is attentive, the food has its charm with in-house made tortillas. It really was a hard review to write because all the elements of a great restaurant is embodied in this hidden gem. I chalk it up to ordering the wrong items. The flavors did not pop for me. Hubby opted for the chorizo and he said it was decent and he described it as "diet chorizo"--that he'd probably needed to go back to Sinaloa to capture the true essence of "real" chorizo, the way it's meant to be. The star of his meal was the in-house made flour tortillas-now that's authentic! This is/was the reason that it leaned towards a 4 star. These looked and tasted phenomenal. The aroma took me back to the times when we visited Rosarito's Puerto Nuevo, as the lady made the tortillas by hand & pressed them in the comal, ahh, good times. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with beans & potatoes. The omelette was decent with fresh bell peppers & onions but the seasoning was so mild that I requested for salt & pepper. The potatoes appeared well seasoned in color but lacked that oomph that salt & pepper couldn't fix. My apple pancakes were average. While I appreciated the strawberry compote, there was no apple or apple taste in them. To wash everything down, I had cafe de olla, that was good. The aroma of the brown sugar & cinnamon was ever present. Estrella, our server was very welcoming, attentive and friendly, she gets 5 stars for her service with a smile & hospitality. Their lunch & dinner menu looked very appealing but we wanted breakfast items. We wish we were both molé enthusiasts then perhaps we would've better appreciated & enjoyed those offerings. Both indoor & outdoor seating (front & rear), parking is free & shared with their liquor store at this corner small plaza. Beware, no restrooms available. I'm glad we gave this little shop a try.
