I think I found my go to for Tripitas. I ordered a meat only burrito with Tripas Dorada and it was exactly what I was looking for. Excellent flavor and the perfect crispness to the tripas. Little gem in Downey across from The Downey Landing. We go often for the asada tacos. I like the meat because it's thin with hardly any fat; the corn tortillas are hand made to order. The Aguas are fresh and not too sweet! They don't have fountain drinks but you can get can soda or Mexican bottle sodas. It's clean, they're fast, and it's affordable. read more

I was in the area and crazing a breakfast burrito that I could eat in my car. This place came up on Yelp with mixed but mostly positive reviews. The big menu on the wall shows lots of breakfast plates and dinner plates that all cost about the same $10-$12. There is a smaller breakfast burrito menu that just lists the meats available. There is no price on this breakfast burrito menu but it turns out they are all $9.95, an average price these days. Hope it's big! After I ordered a machaca breakfast burrito, the cashier gave me some sandwich bags a cups so that I could help myself at the ample salsa bar (red and green salsa, marinated carrots, radishes, onions, and cilantro). The burrito was heavy and perfectly cylindrical. Inside there was lots of rice and meat and a little bit of eggs and beans. It was underseasoned but I couldn't tell whether it was the rice or the meat was lacking the flavor. Normally this would not be a problem because I have all that salsa to use, but I was driving so I have yet to try the salsa. Note to self: Next time try chorizo and say 'no rice'. Maybe I'll get more beans and egg inside. The atmosphere inside was not inviting. It was as cold inside- like 60 degrees. Also, everything looked old and cluttered, with no concept of design. It's a decent taqueria located near me. It's been there for quite some time. The prices are moderate compared to other local taco spots. Nothing special about the interior of the taqueria, decent amount of space to dine in and decent amount of parking. My rating is more based of their carne asada tacos and service. I've only tried their carne asada tacos and they were good. They have a good salsa / condiment bar. The only reason I didn't rate them five stars is because their tacos were a little too greasy for my liking. Also, the service was great because the cashier speaks both english and spanish and was friendly. read more

I had previously eaten at the Zavala on Garfield before. I have been driving on Stewart & Gray twice a day, and had been noticing this Zavala # 2 all these years. I finally said enough is enough, and ordered food to go from here. I requested couple of Tacos, a Mulita and their Horchata. Total came to $16.45 with taxes Atmosphere: Surprisingly there is decent amount of seating at the restaurant. I was expecting this to be a hole in the wall like the other Zavala I had been to. There are couple of TV's inside. Parking lot is shared with several business. There is always parking available. The salsa bar had Pickled Radish & Carrots, Red and Green Salsa, Onion Cilantro mix and Lemon wedges. Service: A lady that took my order over the phone was polite and respectful. Employee that assisted with the receipt, and my order at the restaurant was also courteous. Food: Taco at $1.85 had very good amount of meat. (+1) Chicken was kind of bland. Al Pastor was very flavorful. Adding all the condiments and salsa made for 1 very delicious taco and 1 OK taco. The largest Horchata Foam Container ever for $3.50. I asked for easy Ice while ordering and boy was it a lot of Horchata!!!! The drink itself was smooth, and not too sweet. Mulita was still hot even after I drove back to work. I could taste more cheese than the Asada I had ordered. The price at $7.75 is definitely couple of Dollars more than what I would have paid for. Review #472 None Elite Squad I got take out..I got a Wet Burrito, A Divorced Burrito! Which I guess it's a Burrito with 2 different sauces..1 red and 1 green. The Burrito was Al Pastor and even though the Al Pastor Meat was dry and I'm not used to ever eating Al Pastor Dry..it was Delicious! The Sauce helped this Burrito from being Dry..but so much flavor that I have to recommend it. The Size is Great, what a Burrito Size should be..price is ok..customer service is great.. location is good but it gets over shadowed and over looked with what's across the street with the Big Plaza and Stores like Best Buy, Old Navy, Chilis, Hawaiian Ono, ETC. But I say try it..its good. My only thing even though the flavor is there.. they need to add another portion of meat because it's not enough.. we also got a Crazy Quesadilla and not enough meat and a torta and not enough meat again. The woman that took our order had a negative attitude, since this was the first time I asked questions about the food, she pointed to the sign behind her and told us that whats there it's all they have. we placed the order and we were told they let us know when the food will be ready, waited 15 minutes and then went to check, that woman was sitting at one of the tables texting on her cell and the plates we ordered were sitting at the counter, I grabbed the food, finished it and left. We are never going back to this poor service. I have been to their other location in Bellflower and the service there is top notch, unfortunately the sitting suck.
