These chiles make an awesome addition to my plate.

Three tacos, beans, rice, and drink for $10.50 with card. Amazing. Rice and beans are good, and tacos have so much flavor. I got everything loaded on them, which added a great spicy twist. Really great meal. Family owned and operated. Small place with an intimate family friendly environment.

Fast service, good ambiance, AMAZING FOOD!!!! Ordered 2 tacos de tripa and 1 cabeza Good size and well portioned. Definitely recommend and will return!!

Metal bristle found in my dad's taco.

My parents go to this restaurant a lot, but after my dad found this metal bristle in his taco, he says he does not feel comfortable eating there. My mom still has the bristle because they wanted to show it to the owner but I told her I rather upload it into yelp so others can see and maybe the restaurant can really change their food handling/ cleaning techniques. This is so dangerous! My dad was eating his taco when he bit into something hard in the meat and to pull this out! I'm shocked!

Got some menudo from this spot on Saturday & I was left utterly disgusted. I proceeded to prepare my menudo as I usually do & as I was about to eat I noticed a thick dark hair on my first spoonful. I then examined my menudo & found that many pieces of meat had hair. While examining the meat I noticed that the hair still intact with the skin looked normal, but the hair floating on the caldito was dark & coarse leaving me to think it was a mustache/beard hair or something else. I was left disgusted & nauseous from this experience. My man sadly didn't examine his menudo & it wasn't until after I noticed mine that he then examined his & found hair in his too. He ate half his menudo by the time I noticed mine & he was equally disgusted & upset. I've tried the menudo from here other times when my man lived in Maywood, & I remembered it being good, but this experience was just too horrible. By the way this place also failed to provide cilantro for our menudos (the cilantro in the menudo I had in the fridge & added it myself) they gave a little bit of lemon, & over all skimped on ingredients. I wouldn't buy from here again.

    Nasty shit

This place is disgusting we just purchased Menudo with a nice Big green worm in it ! I called the lady literally called me a liar

Screw driver piece in my wet burrito

Food was great but I found a screw driver piece biting cutting into my wet burrito. I was barely on my second bite too but it made me not even want to eat the rest. I told the lady that it was my first time there too. I will not be going back

    Steak nachos.
    Krishna C.

I ordered their super nachos based on other reviews on yelp. They were good. However the steak was a bit dry to my taste. -1 star for that. I also ordered couple of tacos. They were delicious. But as you can see they might win the Guinness record for the smallest tacos ever? J/K Colleagues ordered steak sope's but they did not like their meal. They had the same complaint as mine regarding their steak.

I did not look like a clean place and the neighborhood looks bad and unsafe the place is small and doesn't look too clean and people are a bit rude the menudo is disgusting no flavor so greasy and the lady that serves has a cup where she hides the pata to add to your order when u ask for some in your order

Today I bit into a small rock and it broke in 3 pieces. I also found another rock in the bag of carrots.

I first visited while I was in the area with my best friend, who is also half Argentinian like me and does modeling as a hobby. She had just finished another successful photoshoot on the Eastside of Los Angeles, made great connections, and got some amazing content. It was getting late, and we wanted to start heading back home toward the freeway, but we were starving. We both love food and get the munchies now and then, but we also wanted to celebrate her latest milestone, so I suggested La Casita Mexicana. The ambiance was like stepping into a little casita in Mexico -- bright, colorful, vibrant, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, too. We tried an appetizer and shared the Enchiladas Tres Moles. Granted, I've never had truly authentic mole, but I've had versions of mole that were not good. The mole here, however, was out of this world delicious. Even the mole that came with the dinner chips as their "salsa mole" was fantastic. I remember thinking, I feel like I'm experiencing Michelin-star-level food in the middle of the LA barrio. And honestly, that's the beauty of the barrio. There are culinary diamonds all over Los Angeles -- you just have to give them a chance and be willing to try somewhere new. I've since returned with my boyfriend, and the food has never disappointed. For a little personal context, I'm half Argentinian and half Mexican. Although the Mexican side of my family is from Guadalajara and Sonora, I didn't grow up eating Jalisco-style cuisine, so exploring different regional Mexican cooking has been especially fun for me. It's always interesting discovering flavors and traditions that are part of my own heritage but weren't necessarily part of my upbringing. La Casita Mexicana is definitely one of those places I'm glad I ventured out for -- and another successful Eat the World LA discovery.

They serve them with three different moles, and honestly, nobody is beating them on that. All three are good, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'm going with the pipian mole. That one really stood out. I tried a few other things off the menu, and they were okay, but nothing made me want to come back the way those mole flautas did. I'd literally return just for that plate. I also really like the inside of the restaurant. The paintings and artwork give the place a lot of character and make you feel tapped into the culture while you're eating. Service has always been good too. They actually check back on you and make sure you're taken care of, which I appreciate. Overall, I'm coming back for one thing: those mole flautas--especially the pipian.

For us, that's El Ranchito in Huntington Park. It's a family-owned, authentic Mexican restaurant that has had the community on its back for the last 6 decades. They hand-make the tortillas right in front of you, serve up fresh chunky guac, and make their iconic Mama Avila's soup fresh daily. It's rare that a soup has me hitting a stank face, but here we are. The Camarones al mojo de ajo is a can't miss appetizer. It's succulent shrimp sauteed in butter and fresh garlic, made to be eaten with the piping hot homemade tortillas. They have all the traditional Mexican dishes, my brothers go to is the chile relleno, but I always just run the fajitas. I'm sure I'll get clowned for this, but nothing heals my trauma and existential dread like a plate of sizzling fajitas. My pops has worked in the area for longer than I've been alive, so El Ranchito has seen every iteration of me, and of my family. For that, I am grateful. We walked in and it was a few minutes to get recognized by the hostess. Not a big deal but that bled over into the waitstaff. We were sat and ignored for quite a bit. We waited and we got chips and salsa and someone came for drink orders. The salsa was some of the best I've had. Drinks came back pretty fast but they were average. Something was off about them. We ordered the food and we got it fast! I was surprised how quick it came! It was good Mexican food. Not great but good. All in all, it was a good place for a sit down dinner with drinks.

My favorite appetizer are the Molletes which are toasted bolillos with chorizo and bean spread topped with cheese and pico de gallo. My favorite plates are the Carne en su Jugo, which is pork in green chilli sauce, and the Albondigas beef meatball soup. The soup is plentiful and doesn't disappoint in flavor. The meatballs are tender and have a perfect flavor profile of herbs and spice. Honestly, nothing disappoints here. The Pollo in Mole is also delicious. The tortillas are fresh and hand made. The Pollo con Rajas is creamy, cheesy, flavorful and the chicken has always been juicy underneath all that sauce, cooked perfectly. I've also had the teak tacos and they're filling, tasty, and a perfectly compliment to anything you will order. The sides are usually rice and beans and they've always been perfect. The rice is soft and the beans are addicting. Javier is always warm and friendly, he does an amazing job with his restaurant. Service is attentive, the food has its charm with in-house made tortillas. It really was a hard review to write because all the elements of a great restaurant is embodied in this hidden gem. I chalk it up to ordering the wrong items. The flavors did not pop for me. Hubby opted for the chorizo and he said it was decent and he described it as "diet chorizo"--that he'd probably needed to go back to Sinaloa to capture the true essence of "real" chorizo, the way it's meant to be. The star of his meal was the in-house made flour tortillas-now that's authentic! This is/was the reason that it leaned towards a 4 star. These looked and tasted phenomenal. The aroma took me back to the times when we visited Rosarito's Puerto Nuevo, as the lady made the tortillas by hand & pressed them in the comal, ahh, good times. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with beans & potatoes. The omelette was decent with fresh bell peppers & onions but the seasoning was so mild that I requested for salt & pepper. The potatoes appeared well seasoned in color but lacked that oomph that salt & pepper couldn't fix. My apple pancakes were average. While I appreciated the strawberry compote, there was no apple or apple taste in them. To wash everything down, I had cafe de olla, that was good. The aroma of the brown sugar & cinnamon was ever present. Estrella, our server was very welcoming, attentive and friendly, she gets 5 stars for her service with a smile & hospitality. Their lunch & dinner menu looked very appealing but we wanted breakfast items. We wish we were both molé enthusiasts then perhaps we would've better appreciated & enjoyed those offerings. Both indoor & outdoor seating (front & rear), parking is free & shared with their liquor store at this corner small plaza. Beware, no restrooms available. I'm glad we gave this little shop a try.
