On top of that, the price for an meat empanada is now $6! Of it was good then the price wouldn't be as much of a shock, but it was tasteless and soggy! I bought two, and ended up throwing one out. I used to come often for the fresh empanadas. I moved away from the area and when I was nearby I dropped in for a few spinach baked empanadas. I looked to buy some goodies, but the wine selection wasn't carrying a few items I enjoyed. The place was empty the service sub par, but ok if the food was what I remembered. I really wanted to like this place, especially since my husband hadn't been here in years and remembered it as amazing. Unfortunately, we were so disappointed with the signature bowls. The portions were shockingly small, and there was nothing special about them--it honestly felt like something you could throw together at home with a bottle of Thousand Island dressing. It's a bad thing for me that Los Tanitos is walking distance from my house... I have to hold myself back from going there DAILY! There are so many food options AND you can customize specialized menu plates with whatever is on the menu. Even better, you can buy food from the market and make the meal you loved at the restaurant at your own home! The service is always phenomenal whenever we show up and we instantly get helped and the food is always fire and comes out quick. It's a quirky and cute place that sells the best meat at an amazing price. You can't go wrong ESPECIALLY that they use certified angus beef and you have a celebrity chef & butcher cooking and cutting your meat. Chef Carla is one of the ONLY female butchers in Miami and she's Argentinian, so you know she knows her meat. Get out there ASAP if you haven't been. I just had the worst experience with Los Tanitos. I purchased 3 churrasco empanadas and they are inedible. That meat is extremely salty and the dough is rubbery and gross. I called to make them aware of my dissatisfaction and the lady that answered was extremely rude and standoffish. Unfortunately the way that Los Tanitos are operating their business both in quality control and customer service is not conducive to a returning clientele. I will not be going back. read more

I came here for a media event. There were 2 chefs releasing a cookbook so it was quite exciting. I don't normally go to this part of town but I'm glad that I did because the food was amazing. Upon arrival, there were literally mountains of empanadas including carne and pollo. They also had chipos, torta de maiz and Sandwich de Matambre. OMG. I love Argentinian empanadas. They're so meaty inside and the ones here were legit. I think I ate like 6 of them. Also, this was my first time trying the torta de maiz. Where was this all my life? I'm hooked..LOL. After the book signing, the pièce de résistance was this enormous Tomahawk Steak prepped by Chef Carla Dilorenzo. Folks, I'm not kidding. This earned a spot in my top 10 steaks. It was perfectly cooked. The char was smoky and added a little bit of crunch. And once she started slicing, this sexy meat had the perfect pink. It was so juicy and just melted like butter in my mouth. I love this butcher/restaurant. I wish I lived closer because I'll be stalking them for their empanadas and pastries. So I'm seriously obsessed with Los Tanitos! Not only is it a meat market where you can get high quality product, but it's also a delicious restaurant where you can sit down and enjoy an amazing meal. Everything there is amazing, their steaks, the molleja/sweetbread, morcilla/blood sausage, ALL of the empanadas, their sweet treats and they rock it with the mate, and wine selection ! I had the pleasure to try their food at Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah. The Steak Bowl was absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked to perfection. It's definitely one of the best steaks I had in a while. I also had some of their Churros. Churros are one of these desserts that are nice, but I never crave them. THESE CHURROS must have had crack in them (just kidding). I went back for more. They are filled with Dulce de Leche or some caramel goodness (not sure). They are plenty of Argentinian products and Deli meats made by themselves ( you have to try the Matambre!!!) , Also they have an amazing butchery and, yes! the best empanadas in Miami. They have like 30 or more types of empanadas full of meat, churrasco, chicken, various cheeses, vegetarians, etc. They have mollejas and blood sausage empanadas! My wife love's their pastas and gnocchi, I am a meat lover so my favorite dish there is the parrillada mixta with ribs, chicken, meat, chorizo, morcilla and sweetbread... I've been here a few times - although not a regular, I do try and support a small business. Last week is the last time I will support this restaurant. I met with a friend for a midweek lunch. The restaurant was basically empty. We ordered a pitcher of sangria that we were not able to drink. The sangria was acidic and although we tried to water it down with ice - we couldn't drink it. We attempted to buy a bottle of wine, but were told we would have to pay a corkage fee above the sticker price. We then asked for a glass of the house wine and were told that it was the same wine as the sangria, so basically since we complained about the sangria we weren't likely to like the wine either. The waitresses both gave us attitude about it even though we never asked for a credit and were just trying to get through a nice lunch with a friend. This will be the last time I come here - if I want a decent Argentinian meal and a glass of wine I'll go to Gauchos. read more

Caution: check your bill before leaving the restaurant when you purchase to go. I purchased this single serving dessert to go along with other items. It's called Mil hojas. I did not check the price until I got home and I saw they charged me a "portion torta" which translates to a portion of a cake. It was $8.99!! A single portion! You can get this same dessert at a local bakery for less than $4. When I called the restaurant to ask what was the price of this single portion dessert to check if they may have made a mistake, they took a while to answer and replied $9.50. It was a joke. Went here to pick up some empanadas on a Sunday at around 10 am. Place was empty. When I ordered about 4 empanadas, the lady proceeded to take them from the display case and heat them up in a microwave. Who knows how long those empanadas were sitting there. Microwaving them causes the dough to become rubbery, and heats up the inside uneven. Needless to say, I will not be back. The empanadas were subpar. read more

I was in the mood for Argentinian food and this was the closest one to our location. Upon entering, it reminded me a lot of "Grazianos" on Bird Road, which made me excited as I love their food! We ordered empanadas and parrillada along with French fries. The empanadas were amazing! the parrillada was ok . The meat was a bit chewy for my liking, on the other hand, the fries were fresh and crunchy . It is "market style" and they had a variety of items to choose from such as jarred dulce de leche, grilling spices, packaged alfajores, meat market, etc. The service was a 6 out of 10. I've been here a couple of times for working lunches. The parking is practically nonexistent- the spaces are always full mid-day. That being said. The restaurant is a sweet little space with a few tables (15?) flanked on one side by a meat/deli/wine station and on the other by delicious smelling baked goods. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and are served with your choice of sides (noted on the back of the menu) and a glass of wine. I ordered the lunch selection without the wine and the server actually pointed out that it was a better deal to just order the full portion if I wasn't going to have wine. I was certainly surprised until I commented and he explained he was the owner. While we waited for the food to arrive I noted a wide array if meats and cheeses and sweetbreads and other butcher worthy selections available for purchase in the glass display counter. Prices were reasonable compared to that if my local butcher. When the food arrived (promptly) the churrasco was flavorful and tender. The portion was perfect for lunch. The service was efficient and friendly. The owner delivered the food himself and checked back to make sure the meal was enjoyable. (The cheese selection appetizer was enough to share and there was a variety of cheese offered - I wish someone would have told us what was on the plate or cheese markers would have been used- it may have resulted in a purchase of cheese to go. This was a comment from a previous visit which I feel I should point out as if it had happened when the owner was present the experience would likely have been different). Overall a lovely experience in a restaurant with nice ambience and really good food (better parking and cheese explanation would equal a home run). They also have groupons available. read more

I had never been here before and came in for lunch with my boyfriend which ended up being an overall wonderful experience. It was a Wednesday during lunch time and they weren't too busy. The interior feels very homey and is run by the same Argentinian family that used to own Che Tano. They have a bakery, wine selection, and meat counter where they also butcher everything in house which is probably why my meal was so delicious. When you first walk in you can immediately see the HUGE selection of empanadas they offer so we decided to start our meal with some of those. We got two assortments, baked and fried, both being cooked to perfection where the baked empanadas weren't too doughy or dry and the fried ones far from greasy. My favorites of the empanadas that I highly recommend were the mushroom, ham/cheese, corn, and sausage. The sausage was outrageously good and I have never had an empanada that could compete with it! For our entrees I went with something off their lunch menu which is very well priced considering that you could get Argentinian sandwiches with soup or something off the grill with a side and cup of wine. I got the NY strip steak cooked at the perfect Medium-Rare with their recommended beets potato salad which I loved. My boyfriend and I shared this and some smaller menu items: morcilla (blood sausage), Argentinian chorizo, and their sweet breads. The blood sausage was the best I've ever had, really, and I order it at other places often. I had never had sweet breads but it was AMAZING and I will surely be back just to have them---again, cooked perfectly. Can't wait to return and their owner Carla was such a pleasure to meet. She is a true butcher babe and took the time to explain her menu to us. I have been waiting to try this place for the longest time. I found them online months ago and followed them on Instagram. I loved their story and loved even more the fact that their butcher is female (one of the only ones here!) which is so cool in my opinion. With everything going on right now, I wanted to support them and decided to stop by for some empanadas and market goods. I got there and the butcher herself was working the counter! It felt like seeing a celebrity to me, I was a little starstruck to be honest. She was helping another lady and was the only one working there. So I took this time to look around and see what I wanted. I'm not sure if she saw me but I wasn't acknowledged despite being there for a few minutes already. I didn't mind though, I know she was busy so I just kept waiting and looking. About ten minutes pass and this man walks in and goes behind the counter near where I was standing. He was wearing regular clothing so I didn't know he worked there. He just asks me what I want and I point to the various empanadas I want. I wait by the cashier as he and the butcher are conversing. He rings me up, puts my receipt on the counter and continues his conversation. And that seemed to be the end of my first experience there. I grab the receipt and walk out very disappointed. I'm not a fan of giving little, hometown places like this a critical review, but my experience was not good, at all. My expectations were pretty high (I'll admit) because of their social media presence. They seemed so great and down to earth, I was honestly excited to meet one of the only female butchers in South Florida (like seriously too cool!) and get a taste of her delicious food. Though the empanadas were tasty and the market goods as well, I just can't get past the lack of customer service I received here. No hellos, no good byes, not even a thank you. Just a "what do you want". I never noticed the other reviews on here until a few hours before I decided to go to this place. I was honestly shocked they only have 3 stars and went on to read some of the reviews. A lot of them had similar experiences like me. Knowing how some people on here can be a bit nit-picky at times, I decided to still visit because I was already determined to come here. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a place before (nor have I ever written a review this long...proof of how upset I am). Especially since I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I understand some places have bad days and I'm sure with everything going on, stress levels are high. So I've been here several times already. The food is absolutely amazing. The owner really knows her stuff. I was listening in on a convo she was having with another customer educating him in the types of cuts of meats which led to me asking a few questions myself. Let me tell you, you can really tell when someone has a passion for something. This isn't work for her, she clearly goes above and beyond and I think she would've talked to me all day if I let her but I had a meeting to get to. I would say that I'm surprised at some of the reviews in here, but having worked in this industry before I know some ppl are.....well, let's just call them an Astonishingly Special Species ;) Anyway, I highly suggest if you're thinking of trying this place you go and decide for yourself. The food is good, so today I try to grab a bit at 7:24 just to find out they close the Kitchen at 7pm but the advertised hours of operation say until 8 pm .. the restaurant still had plenty of tables occupied by customers and some without food on the table still waiting for their food. I was drawn to Los Tanitos (LT) because my wife had a Groupon deal for lunch. LT is located in one of those ubiquitous too-small West Kendall strip malls where you have to shoehorn your car into a space. Ugh! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the co-owner/chef/butcher (and on this day our server) Carla, aka Che Tanita. LT is a cozy, small clean space. In addition to the tables, it has a small bar, a butcher counter and a pastry counter. It has a nice ambiance with just- right volume Argentinian accordion music, and 5 TV's. We decided on an advertised lunch deal (not the Groupon offer) which was 8 oz. NY Strip steak, fries, glass of wine (or soda) and a pastry for $15.00. We were served very delicious, piping hot fresh baked bread with homemade sauces for starters. We got an app of grilled provolone which was delicious and fun to dip the bread in. However, I didn't like that it congealed rather quickly and became unwieldy to handle. The French fries served were really just MEH...LT has another lunch special at $13 which is the same that we had, with no pastry but you get your choice of side, several of which looked interesting. The steak tho!!! This steak definitely earns its Angus certified cred...you could cut through it like butter, it was juicy, tender, and flavorful, and Carla grilled it exactly to order! The best steak I've had in some time. For my pastry, I had the caramel stuffed churro...yaaaass it was incredibly delicious! Our entire dining experience was heightened by Carla's service. You can tell she takes pride in her business. In passing, I mentioned to her it was our wedding anniversary. After the meal, she brought us a large complimentary slice of Imperial Russo cake ( which was verrry delicious) along with a cute placard (see photo). I was disappointed in the aspect of the churrasco I expected it to be s skirt steak and what I got was a 8 ounce thick piece of meat, it had taste but not a churrasco for sure attached are photos so you can see. The passionfruit mousse had a bit of refrigerator taste. The staff is very pleasant and attentive to us. But, I would change the churrasco and the mousse. read more

Few things: - They microwave their empanadas to heat them up. This made them a little soggy and they lost the baked goodness. - the dough itself was undercooked. I opened one and the inside part of the dough felt like it needed more time in the oven. Too doughy. - too much oil. (Posted pics) - the humita one is so horrible. Probably the worst one I tried. - the pastries are ok. But nothing remarkable. I'd return to try more things but I'm so discouraged. Not even worth it. After reading all the negative reviews I thought this place would be a total dump....my wife was scared of going. We used a Groupon deal and we did not have the same problems others are mentioning about substituting Churrasco for chicken, etc. The place is clean, the wine they served me was great and the bread they bring before the dinner was excellent. I have to disagree with all the negative posts and we go to nice restaurants all the time.
