Got the 3 tacos with rice and beans, really good price! These were the fish tacos, my partner got carne asada. The fish was ok, they weren't breaded which I didn't like but the purple onion and cabbage was a nice touch very appealing. You can tell these people care about how their food looks and tastes. As a person who is always on the hunt for some of the best food, I wasn't impressed with this place. Overall, ir was just kind of bland, ingredients seemed to lack quality, and salsa choices are limited and not great. I would much rather go to Chipotle than here. That's not saying that it didn't taste good, but it didn't give me a reason to come back nor would I recommend it to friends. If I were looking for good street tacos, I'd choose a place off of McDowell Rd. If you're curious, here's the breakdown of what my group thought: Shrimp taco: my favorite of the order. I'll admit that they make a VERY good shrimp taco. The rest is downhill from this though. Chicken taco: it's just plain chicken with their kinda-gross green salsa (described later in this review). Al pastor: This was the biggest disappointment for me. If al pastor is gonna be street taco-style, I expect it to be similar to the kind that's off a trompo. This, however, was more of an American bbq flavor with hints of pineapple. Not bad, but not true al pastor in my opinion. Asada Arizona burrito: the potatoes were unseasoned and just meh. It didn't have much salsa on it, and the meat (asada) was overcooked to the point where it fell apart like pot roast. Some people may like that, but I like asada to be more like a tender steak. Quesdilla w/ carnitas: the quesadilla was weirdly sweet. My wife wasn't a fan. The tortilla has a more rough, rustic, homemade feel similar to the ones I had in Mexico, so that was nice. They're a little dry though. Rice: Dry and bland Refried beans: always good, but still not great Chips: They tasted like the bargain price kind you get at the grocery store. They're a thicker chip that is barely salted. Bombero sauce: they seem to pride themselves on this sauce, and it is good; however, it is really just a spicy chipotle bbq sauce. Green Salsa: loaded with cumin, so it tastes more like jarred green salsa than fresh tangy tomatillo. Not a fan Red salsa (Chile de árbol?): this was my least favorite alone, but MOST favorite on their meats. It complemented them well. Heard good things about Los Taquitos so my wife and I decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere was great (we were here on a weekday for lunch and the place was packed) - very good energy. I had four tacos with a side of beans and rice. I had a variety of tacos but the beef was by far my favorite - i would do all beef tacos the next time. My wife had the chicken enchiladas and enjoyed that as well. This was a popular spot during the time I was here. It seemed like the whole conference loved this place. I think it was the cheap price and the fast lunch that allured them here. This is definitely a take out or dine in spot, it's fast, and they basically have it set up like a fast food chain. You get in line, go to the counter, order, you get a number if you are eating there, then pick a seat. Seats are limited, so if there's a ton of people there is a chance that you probably won't get a seat. Now, to the food. I ordered the Pastor Burrito and I got it smothered. Don't follow my footsteps and get it smothered. Get it plain, if you want the sauce, get it on the side because to me it took all the flavor of the pastor in the burrito and the overall taste out of it and you're just eating a burrito drenched in sauce. The overall pastor was good, I wish that I never got it smothered and just got it on the side. On the other hand, the fish tacos were good which I would recommend if that's what you want. Overall, this place was good. Great place for quick lunches. Nothing exciting or memorable other than the option to smother the sauce all over the burrito. At one time in the past staff was hospitable, welcoming, and accommodating... this is no longer the case. They now go as far as to charge you extra if you ask for more than 2 red & 2 green tiny salsas. So get this... you pay for your pick up order from the prepubescent wench who was upset you made her confirm the order that is for your postpartum wife... then you go to the right of the register for someone to ask you what salsa you want.... then after you tell them they say it's extra for more than 2 tiny red and 2 tiny green salas. I WANTED THREE OF EACH....... So, here is a word of advice for your restaurant as you serve people who are dumb enough or unlucky enough to find themselves in your establishment...How about you tell them at the end of their order "would you like to buy extra salsa... your order comes with the maximum of 4..." Have been here a couple times and did not know it was the same people with the restaurant in Ahwatukee that was on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. This location is very nice and contemporary compared to the original location. This could do very well in North Scottsdale with the decor if it was located somewhere else. The burritos are very good but if you come here you must have the street tacos and the carne asada in particular. The Carna Asada is awesome in the burrito or tacos and you can't go wrong, but would recommend trying other items. I like the fact that you order at the counter and that they call your name. This visit was a long time coming. My husband has came home from work a few times saying he got the BEST street tacos for $1 each on taco Tuesdays for lunch. Frankly she had no personality and may have been the most miserable person I have ever met. Cheer up buttercup! My husband was surprised because all the other ladies previously have been very nice to him. So erasing the first impression the lady at the register gave me, I moved on to the food with a clean slate. I got the 3 street taco combo with 1 carnitas, 1 carne asada, and 1 el pastor. They were all super good! All the meat was very juicy and flavorful. The El Pastor was my favorite! Very good with so much flavorful. The carnitas was my second favorite. I added sour cream and their green sauce which made it over the top good. The rice and beans were simple but good.
