I really tried to love bean and cheese burritos at other Mexican restaurants. I've had nearly every bean and cheese in Phoenix including one within walking distance from my house. I still crave and travel for Regios. Regios is quick, no fuss, no frills. Don't let the unassuming building beneath a freeway with a faded drive through menu decieve you. The ingredients are top notch. Fresh flour tortilla, perfectly refried pinto beans, both yellow and white cheese, and perfectly complimentary and spice in the red and green salsa. It is my ultimate comfort stop. My only critique is that I wish the burrito was warmer when served. My easy fix is warming up in a toaster over for 5 min at 325* which makes everything inside melty and crisps up the tortilla. read more

I'm glad i finally stopped by early in the morning. I've heard so many good things about the breakfast burritos here. And woah, this burrito is over 2lbs. It will feed 2 people easily. Best of all it's delicious. No processed ingredients to be found. They also have a vast menu to be explored at another time. Restaurant has a decent size dining room very clean. I promised to update my previous review after trying the Carne Asada Burrito. I just finished it, and I am happy to report it is a good representative of the art of burrito making. Pros: Generous amount of carne No gristle, bone, etc. Good guacamole Good Pico de Gallo Carne is cooked and mildly charred Tortilla is thin and warmed Cons: Carne is a bit tough, but not too tough Flavor is acceptable, but the meat needs seasoning It's hard for me to separate my personal tastes for this iconic dish from just simply a well-executed burrito. This one was well-executed, but far from my personal ideal, i.e., the Southern California taco shop style I grew up on. In other words, it's a good burrito by most standards, just not the flavor I know and love. I like Carne Asada that has been marinated in garlic, lime juice, and cilantro, then grilled over an open flame. Many kitchens do that, and then, right before constructing the burrito, they heat the meat on the flattop, then chunk it and pile it into the tortilla. That's my favorite, and it will always be my ultimate standard. Regio's serves a good burrito, but just not my favorite style. read more

I bought a breakfast burrito there today, after visiting for the first time last week. So far, these were easily the best Chorizo, Egg, and Cheese breakfast burritos I've had in AZ. I also added potatoes, and I think they charge $0.80 extra for them. Yeah, it was delicious, hot, and filled with tender egg, melty cheese, and a meaty, nicely spiced chorizo. The flour tortilla is thin and has a little bit of char from the grill. All the right characters, in all the right proportions! I have to point out that I'm really not a big fan of chorizo. Most chorizo I've had tends to be very salty and greasy, and the spicing isn't done right. This is not the case here! The chorizo was excellent, and the burrito has an aroma that tells you "this is gonna be good". Don't miss the salsa bar. It's not large, and both times I went, it had one red salsa (perfect, with the taste of chile and garlic) and two green salsas (a chunkier tomatillo and a smoother jalapeño version, both absolutely delicious!). I used all three on my burritos. The burrito alone (no drinks or sides), plus a 10% tip (optional), comes to $14 and change, which I've found to be the going rate these days. I've paid the same for burritos that weren't even HALF as good, so I didn't mind the price. Plus, this one was thick and over 8 inches long. Generous portion size. My first time in Arizona and i had to try some tacos. So i came across this Mexican restaurant. The Mexican chicken tacos were so good! The chicken was super tender and flavorful, and the seasoning had just the right kick. The tortillas were warm and fresh, and I loved the toppings -- especially the lettuce and tomatoes. Everything tasted homemade and authentic. The service was so good they got my food out so fast and the foood was really hot. Now it is righr off the highway next to a smoke shop. OMG!!! BEST CHURROS IN THE VALLEY! I just picked up a sausage breakfast burrito and churro for lunch and am so glad I gave Regio's a try. Their churros are hands down the BEST churro I've had in AZ. Most places that sell churros never put enough cinnamon and sugar. Regio's did not disappoint. It was perfecto! My order was made quickly and as fresh as you can get and service was wonderful. Was visiting from out of town and this place seemed to fit what we were looking for- they had good reviews, was a mom/pop shop, and they had French fries. The place was very spacious and all the tables were clean. There were four of us and everyone loved what they ordered. I got their rolled taco plate with a side of fries. Their rolled tacos were hot, fresh, crunchy and full of meat. They did not skimp on the meat in any of our dishes. The beans and rice were flavorful- probably the best beans and rice I've had at a Mexican restaurant. The guy who took our order was polite and answered the questions we had about the menu. You can see who is working in the kitchen, and it happened to be someone who looked like a grandma and a grandpa- maybe that's why the food tasted so good. We don't live anywhere near here, but if we're ever back in Phoenix, we'd def be back. read more

I hate to give this low of a rating but my burrito was just not good. Could it be a one off? Sure. Would I come back and try this place again? I would. Went in early on a Friday morning before work for a breakfast burrito. There was one guy already waiting for his food and a guy came in after to pick up an order. I asked for a chorizo/egg burrito with potato's and beans added. It's a nice hefty burrito. Came with salsas. The problem with my burrito and I'm not sure if this is how they serve them or it was just mine but the chorizo was sooo mushy. Usually when I make it, it's nice and fluffy from the eggs but the texture on this was absolutely disgusting. I honestly only took a few bites and I couldn't take it. I can't even give an answer on the taste of it cause I can't get past the texture. The gentleman that took my order was relatively friendly and service was adequate. I did have to wait a few minutes but that was acceptable. I don't think I'll try another chorizo burrito but I'd be willing to try something else and give this place another chance. read more

It's the kind of casual place where you can eat in or grab it to go. Convenient stop if you're coming from the airport or need a break from the nearby hospitals. We ordered the chile rellenos appetizer and the green chile pork burrito. Everything was really good. The chile rellenos were flavorful and not overly heavy. The green chile pork burrito was seriously packed with meat -- when people say it's loaded, they're not kidding. It felt like every bite had plenty of pork, and the green chile had a nice flavor without being overwhelming. Googled Mexican restaurants nearby and decided to give this dive a try (very glad we did). Not in the best of areas and also next to a sketchy pawn shop and smoke shop. There was also a homeless man who approached one of the front entrances and I assumed he was going to be panhandling but apparently he knows the owner and he graciously allowed him to get some ice and food. My bean and cheese burrito was very tasty and a good size for around 5 bucks. My friend ordered the two hard shelled taco plate and enjoyed it as well. Dining room is clean but very old. If pleasing aesthetics and decor is your thing, this isn't your place. If you want some good authentic Mexican food, I recommend it (try going during daylight when it is safer though). read more

I found myself needing a late night snack and driving through south phoenix on my way to Glendale and came across this late night spot. They have a drive thru which was very convenient and the service was quick. Even at 9 o'clock at night the place was busy and lively. When I got my bag with my bean and cheese burrito, the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was, this was a big burrito! The breakfast burrito was awesome, enough to share between 2 people. We got eggs bacon and cheese and added potatoes. We had both red and green salsas that were great. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tables and chairs were very dirty. Like all the tables and chairs had food bits on them. We went in at like 8 am too so I think it was probably from the night before. We will be going here again, but will try to hope the kitchen is more clean than the seating area! read more

First time here. Got the carne asada plate. Honestly was not too impressed. Good quality for rice & beans. I was actually thinking of getting a whole steak but it was in bits and pieces. A little disappointing because of a photo I've seen of it, it looked good but it was literally bits no longer than an inch. Regio's is on the South West corner of the intersection of Indian School Road and Route 51. No very apparent, there is a parking lot in front. There is an entrance from N. 17th St., which will lead you past their take out window, to the front of the Regio's. The floor is white tile, filled with black grout. There is no place to hide any dirt. It is clean for sure. The extensive menu back behind the counter is too far away to read the fine print. They do have one printed menu on the counter. The counter is where you pick up your food then bring it to your table. Look to your right while you pick out what to order. There are posters there offering New Mexican style cooking. They served the Cheese Enchilada special at $8 was marginally hot. The refried beans were densely liquid, but extremely smooth, and flavorful. This comes with a mild version of Mexican Rice. It was not spicy hot, nor was it strongly infused with broth or other Mexican Spices. It fit together nicely. The Cheese Enchiladas were big and filled with cheese. The enchiladas did not contain the gooey liquid that melted cheese forms. The check came to $24.00 for two people with soft drinks. This was a Saturday. Business may be more brisk during the week. No matter, good food is great at any time. There is no loud music to turn your stomach. If you like, a place where you can have conversation and concentrate on the food you came there for, this is it. This would get five stars but for the temperature of the food. I will go back for a recheck. I do want it to get five stars, but it was very good, but not so perfect. read more

I haven't seeing a lot of social media posts on this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Right next to State route 51 in Phoenix so easy to get to. The restaurant is pretty basic. The counter with some booths. Clean inside and super friendly service. A huge menu with tons of options. Reasonably priced food that tastes delicious and significant portion sizes. The only thing I would recommend would be to have silverware that is a little bit more sturdy because the plastic fork I had really couldn't handle cutting into the burrito I ordered. And they don't have knives. I definitely recommend this place and will be stopping back. read more

Nothing competes with the flavor options and SIZE of their burritos. They even have a red chili chicken burrito in addition to the outrageous grilled chicken burrito. I need to try other items from the menu, but this is now my go-to when I'm in the mood for a burrito and don't feel like going out to a sit-down spot. I ate here a long time ago and went in and got one taco and the owner assured me that I would be back because they were that good. I found it to be just OK and rather bland. I've been eating at a similar place down the road a bit for years and they are always consistent. I recently went in and ordered a burrito and got sour cream cheese and lettuce added the price was not horribly expensive, and the burrito was outstanding and it was gigantic and extremely filling and all three of the sauces that I got were great, now comes today a week later I ordered another burrito right after they opened. I guess that's where I went wrong as it tasted disgusting I threw the whole thing away. What a complete waste of quite a bit of money as I had it delivered on Uber eats it was piping hot when it arrived at my house because I don't live far but something was massively off. I'm in taco HEAVEN!!! I visited this spot for the *Virtual* International Supper Club UYE on Cinco de Mayo organized by Monica O & Ursula D and i'm so glad that I did!! These were the best carne asada tacos that I've ever had. They were SO big (honestly probably a pound of meat total), had loads of guac, fresh onions and tomatoes, and the corn tortillas were homemade. The rice and beans were also dreamy. I think that I've found my new favorite authentic Mexican food takeout spot! They also have a drive-thru which is fantastic, especially during this time. Dad had the menudo and he said that was delicious. The Menudo is only served on the weekends. I had the red beef tamale combination plate and that was pretty good. I requested red sauce on the side, which is basically enchilada sauce and I topped with green chili (my preference). The tamale was a good size, similar to a dollar bill size. I tipped only to find out that it's self-serve, you pick up your food from the counter and gather your own utensils, napkins, sauce, cucumbers, condiments, etc. The fountain drinks are non-refillable. It's a very clean place. However, it was pretty warm with multiple fans running and it feels like they have a swamp cooler, but I'm not sure. The utensils are plastic and very flimsy. Staff is friendly and bilingual (Spanish and English). They also have a drive-through for your convenience. I'm not certain if we will return. read more
