    Breakfast Burrito
    Jack M.

I stopped by Los Taquitos Taco Shop during breakfast. I had the "breakfast" burrito for $10.99 plus tax, which comes with eggs, ham, cheese, and fries, but I axed the fries. If they were regular potatoes, I would have kept them. You can get a simple ham and eggs breakfast burrito for $9.99 plus tax as well. They offer good prices for their breakfast burritos. The burrito was pretty good. They put a lot of savory ham in the burrito. The eggs were a little over cooked and had browning all around them. The burrito came with a decent amount of cheese in them. They use a good quality flour tortilla, but they need to definitely wrap the burrito better so that it does not open up. They should also put it on the hot griddle, at the very least on the fold, so that it firms up the burrito. I had the burrito with the red hot sauce and it was good. It had good heat and good flavor. The hospitality was friendly enough and It was a little challenging to get a smile out of the lady behind the counter, but I eventually got one. The place has no thrills and is pretty straight forward. They offer outside seating only.

La Especial 5 rolled tacos $11.29

$11.20 for the best Rolled Tacos aka "La Especial" in San Diego. I stopped by Los Taquitos in Chula Vista today for lunch and ordered my favorite rolled tacos. They are the crispiest and crunchiest rolled tacos I've ever tasted. I ordered 5, and they come with sour cream, a ton of REAL guacamole, and shredded cheese. The meat is seasoned well, and they put a good amount in each taco. They also included 3 small red salsas, which pair perfectly with the rolled tacos. They are spicy and have a hint of garlic. These tacos hit the spot! I've been coming here for about 35 years, and the menu is still the same, and so is the food. It's located along 3rd Avenue and Zenith. They have a drive-thru and only take cash. If using the drive-thru, it's best to enter from 3rd Avenue. There is an ATM on the front side of the taco shop. There are tables with umbrellas where you can sit and enjoy your food. There is also plenty of parking. The service is quick; I only waited about 8 minutes from start to finish. Try this place next time you are craving rolled tacos. If you're a roll taco fan, they are worth a trip.

    Outside

I was sent here by my brother who heard this was the best rolled tacos. It's 24/7 with drive through which is cool but let's see if it's worth the hype! I made a YouTube video about it on "This Japanese American Life" if you're interested on full details. Overall i waited a bit for the rolled tacos but they were light, crunchy shells which were delish and the meat was flavorful. I would absolutely eat it again but not sure I'd travel far for it. If I'm in the area, yup! There is only seating outside and cash only so prepare accordingly! People said I should also try the burritos so maybe next time!

The taquitos here are hands down the best rolled tacos in town. The oil is amazingly fresh. The crispy texture is legendary. This is a small, cash only, walk up/drive thru. The customer service is so great. I love how simple it is. Order at a counter outside, there are no tables inside. Just outside tables and a drive thru. I am sure you will find this place to be delicious. Highly recommend! Five hard stars.

Where has Los Taquitos been all my life?! Came here on Easter for a quick bite and there were already customers in line/waiting for their food (all good signs!). Ordered the 5 rolled beef tacos to-go and was impressed by how flavorful the beef & how crunchy the fried tortilla was--all without being oily or skimping out on filling/ guac & cheese toppings. 10/10 rating!

Heard on social media that this spot had the best rolled tacos in Chula... turns out that was cap. The tacos were crispy and stuffed, I'll give them that, but flavor was missing. Guac-sour cream combo wasn't hitting and was begging for some pico de gallo to wake it up. Salsa was mid, cash-only setup with an ATM guarding the entrance like a bouncer, and outside seating only. Honestly, this is more of a 2 AM with the homies after a night out type spot not a let's go back again destination. Service was friendly though!

This place is a classic!!!!! Been coming here since the rolled taco special was $2.50. Starving in my 20s we would dig for change. Oh the memories, but I just had to stop and shout this place out. These are the crispiest, crunchest, rolled tacos in San Diego. Salsa is just as good cant get any better than the OG rolled taco spot. Burrito was huge for sure you get your money's worth.

I'd heard good things about Los Taquitos so I decided to try it out and it did not disappoint. I went through their drive-thru and ordered their 5 rolled tacos. I was pleasantly surprised it came with both guacamole and sour cream. The crunch was very present and pleasant. The taste was very good - probably the best rolled tacos I've had so far in San Diego. Thinking I wouldn't get full I also ordered a fish taco. The fish taco was good but not great but it did hit the spot and I left Los Taquitos very content. This place will definitely be in the rotation and I will for sure try their different offerings.

I've been coming here for over 30 years! With that said I can honestly say they aren't the best. But why I do and still come here are for 2 reasons. It's for their rolled tacos and hamburgers (not life changing but solid) They're just a nostalgic thing for me that I still enjoy!

    Rolled tacos missing sourcream
    A D.

Seeing them on IG all over for "best rolled tacos." Ordered 10, $24. Cash only. Came home and saw that it's missing the sourcream. Called them, confirmed that yes it's supposed to have sourcream and that they forgot. How am I supposed to enjoy this without sourcream? Not going to drive back 20 minutes to get sourcream. Overhyped, over priced rolled taco 3/5.

If you're a millennial, this place is probably not your place. More of a nostalgic experience for us older people. Same quality of food, same employees, same salsa recipe for 30+ years. Nothing has changed except the prices! Cash only! ATM's available

My family is from Chula Vista but as most Mexican families do, we eat Mexican food at home. However, this spot has been here forever and is known for their rolled tacos and having a drive thru. I shared a 5 rolled tacos especial with a friend and, though the beef was delicious and tender and the taco itself was extra crispy, the salsas and guacamole lacked flavor. The sour cream was also fluffy like it was whipped, loved that. The menu is huge so I'll need to try more things but for being known for taquitos we were not living the rolled tacos. Food comes out fast, lots of parking and seating.

Quick 24/7 stop that always hits the spot. Really love the hardshell beef tacos and rolled. They aren't super greasy and topped with fresh lettuce cheese and tomato.

The tacos were around $4 which is pretty average but I thought their tacos were a bit bigger than average and had a good amount of meat. I usually can do two bites at other taco places but I have to take three bites here lol. The cabeza tacos were so tender and the carne asada tacos had a nice smoking taste to them. I also like how they came with a good amount of guac and you can also get a side or extra guac if you want more which was very nice of them. The plain quesadillas are simple but something about it was taste soo good, might be the cheese that they use and their handmade tortilla. I'm not too fan of their ordering system as there are around 5-7 different lines depending on what item/meat you want. If you want carne asada, you have to line up and then you have to line up at another line if you want another type of meat. Some lines are longer than others so I feel like my food gets cold by the time I get my second order and then I have to line up to pay. Both times I came, I came around 10-11pm and they ran out of the green sauce. They have a parking lot in the back so I prefer this location than the one at gaslamp.

I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present.
