First time visiting Los Tres Magueyes, glad we went! Once you're inside, everything around you is bursting with colors and culture, definitely different than brown walls with a few pictures on them. Even the booths were creatively decorated. Our waiter brought us some chips and salsa. The chips were good, they held up well to the salsa and did not break. They probably could have used a bit more salt, but they were very crunchy, not too thick and freshly made. The salsa was ok, not as much flavor and a little thinner consistency than I prefer after visiting some other similar restaurants, but not bad at all. My wife had he Burrito Supremo and I had the Burrito California. Wow, they don't skimp on the portions!!! Large burrito, with lots of meat, I was so happy to see that! Well seasoned meat. I substituted the rice for the beans on my order. The pico de gallo was a nice addition inside of the burrito to cut through some of the heaviness of the meat and cheese, but I felt there was not enough of it. However, I found a solution. The green salad was mainly a mixture of roughly chopped bell pepper, white onion and shredded cheese with a little bit of lettuce. I don't think I could have eaten the salad by itself as I felt the amount of onions was too much on a salad, but I opened the burrito and added the onions and peppers to it and that really helped an already very tasty burrito! The additional flavors from the onion and peppers were great, as well as the texture contrast from the meat. The meat was very tender; there was no chewing on tough steak. The cheese added some richness and fat. My wife echoed my comments about the size of the burrito and the tenderness and flavor of the steak. She also enjoyed the black beans, which had a lot of flavor and mixed well with the rice on the side. We both had leftovers to take with us as there was so much food. It's definitely a good value: reasonable prices, large portions and great tasting dishes. We'll definitely return and make sure to try some new items next time! read more

Los Tres Magueyes is a busy place. The menu is large and the prices are reasonable. Service was good but the food not so good. The Mexican Coke was my favorite part of the meal. I liked the rice and shrimp too but I'm not sure what meat they call steak as it was overcooked and tough. The chicken was dry. I'd rather pay more for better quality meat. This place has some of the best Mexican Food around. My wife and I love their chicken, fish, and their shrimp dishes the most. We highly recommend their chicken taco salad, their Tilapia Veracruzana, their chicken or shrimp a la crema (or the hotter version, a la Chipotle), their chicken quesadillas, and their traditional chicken, shrimp, steak or tilapia dishes. We are fans of their Mexican ground beef as it is not flavored the way I like that. Their prices have gone up but not as much as many other restaurants and their portion sizes almost always allow you to bring food home for an additional one or even two meals. And they have their "Taco Tuesday" special where you can get a large chicken, veggie or ground beef taco for just a $1.50. I think their flour tortillas are homemade and are very good. read more

You know, I am really disappointed. I came here for a late lunch with my friend. Her and her family come here a lot, so she was excited - that made me excited because she loves a great restaurant. When we arrived, we were one of maybe three other tables - so they weren't busy (at that moment). The waitress came with fresh salsa and chips - delicious! Since we were talking we did take a while to decide on what we wanted. The waitress was very pleasant and allows us to chat and take our time without pressure to order. We placed our order and well...that's when things went a little down hill. We probably waited about 20 to 25 mins for the food. Not a problem at all. While waiting the restaurant got busy! Like a group of over 15 people came to dine. It was crazy busy then. The hostess comes to the table with our food. My friend and I said at the same time, this is it?! It was such a sad looking burrito and it gets worse from there. The beans were salty, the rice was cold, the burrito was COLD. Like not even a little warm - the cheese hadn't melted! We waved down the hostess, she told us she would get the waitress. Y'all it took her forever to come because of the big party. When she arrived we explained and she was like it's cold? Ma'am, I have no reason to lie...it was the tone. At that moment, I was over it and told her I was good. She then changed up and offered to have it remade or maybe something else - no thank you. My friend and I finished our convo and she brought the check once she realized my friend was done. The low down: You can't help but feel festive when you eat at this location. The decor is top notch (see photos) food is good, large portions but it's typical to any other Mexican restaurant in my opinion. Service was adequate A great experience overall, enjoyed it more than the one I typically frequent in Rolesville. I just so happen to have a BOGO coupon for LTM that will expire in December so for a change of pace decided to try the one located in Wake Forest. When I walked I immediately felt as though I was at a fiesta and wishing I had brought a sombrero. The restaurant had quite a few patrons given it was 1:30 on a Sat. In the past I have frequented the LTM in Rolesville, so I was surprised to see how differently this one was decorated, but loved it ( yea, same owner, I asked). Three meals were ordered, Arroz con Pollo, Fajita quesadilla and a kids chicken nugget w fries (don't judge, she's 10). The portion sizes for all 3 meals were more than adequate. In total, with the BOGO coupon we spent 24$ (that included 2 waters and a beer). Food came out quickly, our server attended to our needs in a timely manner. The only reason I give a 4 versus 5 is because there was nothing that was above and beyond ( other than the decor). read more

I was deciding between a 3 or a 4 star. Going with a 4. Placing a take out order was fast and easy and pick up was fast as well. I didn't have to wait. Burrito Tejano - as in other reviews, this was very good , I love the creamy sauce and the meat and shrimp inside are well seasoned. Quesadilla combo - not too impressed. My son didn't find it enticing. Tilapia Cancun - the sauce was way too overpowering and a bit too spicy. Otherwise this could be a good dish. Will come again to try sth else. read more

Ate here when we were traveling in Wake Forest...it had a good size parking lot, the restaraunt was festive and servers were great. I are there on Saturday, Tuesday and today. First day waiter brought rice when I ordered the beans. Then brought cold beans. Went back Tuesday to get a better feel, and it was better. Today there were a few ants on the table. Got 3 with my napkin thinking that was it. Then along comes another one and I got the attention of one of the waiters. Paying for my meal was not an issue for me but all the manager seemed to care about was whether I had my ticket in order to pay. Went on to speak about being a small business and a customer could have brought the ant in or the weather. She concentrated on the 1 ant her waiter saw when I had already smashed 3 in the napkin. Service was prompt and excellent. Chips are thicker which I like. Salsa is perfectly robust. Queso is quite thin but white and tasty. Everyone's food was impressive. Fajitas, a massive loaded quesadilla, cheese enchiladas, and a loaded chicken burrito thing. Portions are HUGE! The 3 men at our table had plenty of leftovers. The best part saved for last: I don't like margaritas... but whimsically decided to order a strawberry(?) margarita, extra sweet. He said he made it special just for me, and he's absolutely right about that! If words could describe the yummiest yummy I've ever had... Drove 1.8 miles back to home opened the food and it was room temperature. A family who walked in when I arrived ate their meal there, paid, and left all while I was standing there, awaiting the completion of my pickup order. If I could give this place a zero I would, I was in the mood for Mexican food, I placed an order for pick up consisting of a number 23 (burrito,taco,rice and beans). I requested steak in the burrito I ordered. When I got home I opened up the foil which contained a "taco" to my surprised this was not a Mexican taco that I know and was expecting to receive. If I wanted a taco that looked like one from tacobell I would have bought one from their. I cut open the burrito and noticed it did not contain steak rather it had ground beef!!! I drove over 15min for this food and expect it to be how I ordered it!!! The ground beef had no taste, looked like dog food to me. First off let me say it's super cute inside and considering how busy it is it's pretty clean. HOWEVER...the food was horrific!!! It was either incomplete (missing sides or ingredients that were described on the menu), soggy or drowning in sauce. My chili relleno, normally my favorite dish, was inedible, completely filled with seeds! Now I can understand the kitchen having an off day but the customer service here was the worst. As Mexican is not usually my first choice, I'm happy that we decided to try this. They have a nice selection of veggie options. I ordered the veggie fajitas minus the shrooms and while I would have liked more peppers, it was quite tasty with zucchini, broccoli, peppers and onions. Also came with a side of guacamole on top of lettuce. Theses are served with flour tortillas but no problem switching out for corn. The decor is very colorful and service was great. Again, as with every other Mexican place in the area this has the same menu. It's like there is some Mexican mafia that says you shall only serve this. It's not a bad menu I just like my restaurants that are locally owned to have some variety. I mean I could go to on the border if wanted the same every where. Service is very fast. They really have a great way of taking the order and turning out molten hot food. I have tried many dishes there and they are quite good. Just there as good as the three other places within a two mile radius that have totally different names and layouts but the. Same. Damn. Menu. So if your in the Mexican mood you can just hit the closest place because they are all the same. This is our Go to Mexican spot in Wake Forest! The food is always good and we have never had anything bad. I am addicted to the ACPC, it's a dish with Chicken and Shrimp, rice and queso and you get tortillas with it , always awesome! The tacos are good and when my wife gets a cold she always wants the chicken tortilla soup! They do take out as well as some in. For the true Southerners in the crowd they make good sweet tea as well. If you have not been for some reason , give it a go. read more

Worst Mexican food our family has ever eaten. The super nachos were made of a liquid cheese sauce (not queso), that was soggy and had no flavor. The ground beef in the enchilada and burrito were terrible. And the salsa is bland, tastes like blended tomatoes with nothing in it. Worst thing, they didn't even get our order correct. This little place was a lot better than I'd remembered. We headed out in the rain on the search for some nachos. We stumbled into Los Tres and the joint was packed on a Friday night. We read over the menu for some margaritas and settled on the Texas Margarita after the waiter gave us the description that contained three types of alcohol. Come to momma! Their chips are light and crisp and the salsa had a bit of a kick to it. It all paired nicely with the delicious margarita. Hubbs loves the chorizo dip which is nothing put pure artery clogging heaven. Its fried chorizo layered in melted queso served on a plate. Enjoy with these crispy chips and you have yourself a really comforting and relaxing appetizer! For dinner I found my nachos and added guacamole, pico de gallo, and jalapenos. The portion was large and the flavors were delish. The pico was super spicy and I enjoyed every bite! The jalapenos were HUGE and hubbs and I fought over who got the last one. Hubbs ordered some ginormous combination platter that contained about 3 plates full of food for $10. Pretty unbelievable amount of yummy goodness. The favorite thing on his plates was his enchilada, but nothing much was left when he was done! The food at Los Tres is standard Americanized Mexican fare. I was here both Friday for lunch and again, Sunday for lunch. The food was good, though, very good. Another recommendation from the engineer at the studio. Friday, the service was extremely lacking and I was swearing to myself I was going to give the place a two star review. Refills were few and far between and our table had to flag down another server to finally get some refills on our drinks. When I talked to a friend at church about our experience, he asked me to bring my family there again for lunch after church to give it another try. The service was remarkably better on Sunday. Apparently, my friend is a regular at this Los Tres location and knew exactly which server we had for lunch on Friday. My next biggest complaint for this and other Mexican places - no habanero hot sauce! read more
