My mom and I stopped by here for lunch, and we both agree this is a great spot that we would highly recommend to others in the Homewood area or nearby. We got two tostadas with marinated pork and a chicken quesadilla to share. The weather was nice but too windy to eat outside so we ate our meals in the car instead. I go to Los Valedores Taco Truck in Homewood pretty often, and it's honestly one of my favorite spots for quick Mexican food. I usually order the steak tacos and the shrimp ceviche with a tostada, and they never disappoint. The steak tacos are always well seasoned and juicy, and the tortillas taste really fresh, which makes a big difference. The shrimp ceviche is probably my favorite thing on the menu. It tastes super fresh, with a good mix of lime, shrimp, and veggies. When you put it on the tostada, it has a really nice crunch and flavor. Los Valedores is a Mexican food truck in Birmingham, Alabama that I had been hearing a lit about, so when business took me back here, I knew what would be my dinner choice. This humble food truck sits in a vacant parking lot across the street from a brick and mortar Mexican restaurant and as I pulled up I was encouraged to see a line of people lining up, always a good sign. I opted to go with three tacos and this was a solid choice. I went with an asada taco, a ouerco taco and a cabeza taco and all three were excellent. There was a good amount of meat within each taco, the onions and cilantro only added to the quality and their homemade sauces were definitely on point. Service was a bit slow, but the end result was worth the wait. If you find yourself in the Birmingham area, head over to nearby Homewood and seek this taco truck out. The tacos were amazingly fresh! I ordered 6 tacos and they came out extremely quickly. The person taking the orders was super helpful and upbeat. I liked that the tacos included an onion bulb that was grilled, it was a delicious surprise. The salsas were amazing and added a great touch to the meal. I only wish the chipotle was a little hotter and not as thick. The peanut and green salsa was better consistency. The seating area was very basic and offered a few places. How have I gone all my life without eating a gordita!? I've lived in Los Angeles and the tri-state area, and have been exposed to all sorts of authentic food. I've always overlooked this gem until eating at this truck and ordering it on a whim. Got it with steak and also ordered a cabeza (cachets) burrito. I fell in love with the Gordita from the first bite: crispy, fresh, masa taste comes through, a touch of heat. I don't know if I was just starving but I went right back and got another. Oh my god. Getting Mexican food this good in Hoover, Alabama should be Illegal. We got a chicken quesadilla, a pastor quesadilla and the Gordita chicharron with pastor. So we gave it a shot. The ordering process was very easy. Covid safe and really only to-go available. We ordered 7 different tacos and two quesadillas. We usually eat these type of meals while we are there. But with distancing and being with two 3-year-olds, we decided to take it home. When we got home, it was really tough to tell the tacos apart. Iffen you'se a reader of da' ol' Panoche, you'se knows dat I loves Meskin. Me and Sweet Thang were passing through Birmingham recently and I saw on Yelp that this joint was close and had decent reviews. I checked the address and drove over to see if I could score some of that yummy south-of-the-border goodness Birminghamians, er..., Birminghamsters, er...uh..., folks from Birmingham were talkin' about. I completely blew past it the first time, so if you do the same, don't feel bad. Look at the pictures and you'll see why. It is not a "taco truck". It is, technically speaking, a "taco trailer". When I pulled up at around 4pm it looked, at first glance, to be deserted. I approached the trailer cautiously, going over to what I thought might be an order window. Sure enough, inside said taco trailer was a lovely young lady taking orders. Delighted that it appeared as if I might be able to transact some business, I placed my order. A Burrito asada (con todo, meaning "with everything"), an asada quesadilla and two tacos, al pastor, (also con todo, "kon toedoe"). Price? $19 clams. Put the change of a buck in the tip jar. (That's how I roll.) Since I saw that their business hours were not posted on Yelp, I asked the pretty lady what they were. She asked the guy cooking, (Did she call him "Nacho"?), and then proceeded to try to tell me verbally. Even though I am fluent in the mother tongue of the King of Spain, I asked her to write them down as they were not straight away easily remembered. Her penmanship was so outstanding that I thought it only proper to immortalize it here on Yelp. (See photo.) 500 years from now her handwriting may be all that history has to remember her by, but it will be fine enough. Now to the moment of truth. Was the chow in question any good? Oh my, most certainly yes! Yeah, I could be biased as we's was starvinatin', but the flavors were excellent! Great quality, (for a taco truc.., wagon, er, ...trailer). Go get you some fer yer' piehole! Tell 'em Panochey sent you. They won't have a clue who that is, but I delight sometimes in leaving folks with baffled looks on their faces. This is located usually on the corner of Oxmoor and Green Springs on the Publix side of the street. I have tried the al pastor taco, asada taco, tostada, and AL Pastor burrito. Honestly, I want to keep this place my little secret because it's amazing. It's not Mexico city tacos, but it's an amazing little spot for us who live in Alabama. Not because they use different ingredients, but from what I hear it's the water, town, etc. The people are really nice, quick, and let you try both homemade hot sauces. One is red and smoky, and the other green deliciousness. They are spicy though so beware. I think they need to bottle it and sell it at the truck. I would buy both of them. read more

I tend to go here quite a few weekends out of the month. I most recently went on Thursday. I got three chicken tacos and three steak tacos. I always ask for no onions but add jalapeños. The jalapeños help to add even more spice to the sauces they give you. The meat on the taco is seasoned very well. So much so that the taco doesn't need the sauce. I like to use the sauce just for the extra kick. During Covid they have been wearing masks and making sure to sanitize the surroundings of the food truck such as drinks (people get their own from the cooler). No matter what you order, definitely go for the sauces; one light green and creamy, one dark red and smoky. I highly recommend the flautas; this is my favorite dish at this taco truck. The flautas are filled with chicken and fried to crispy perfection, covered in queso Fresca and lettuce with chopped avocado. Fried eggs top the entree and add a nice, yet unexpected touch.
