After having our anniversary dinner at Pepp & Dolores, we stopped by Losanti for dessert and mentioned we were celebrating. What happened next completely changed our night. Our server, Cory, surprised us with complimentary dessert and their incredible vodka pasta with a meatball. The food was amazing, but the service stood out even more. The atmosphere was beautiful, with tasteful decor and a great music selection, so I was really hoping for a better experience for my birthday dinner. Unfortunately, the food and overall dining experience fell short. We were seated near the kitchen, and the conversations coming from staff were extremely loud throughout the evening. Our server was kind, but she seemed unfamiliar with the menu. She even agreed that the $23 crab cake appetizer was overpriced and appeared to be missing a crab cake. The crab cake itself was extremely salty and fried so hard that it left an unpleasant aftertaste. Later, the server brought out a second crab cake, which we assumed was the missing portion, but we were then charged an additional $16 for it. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was just okay at best. My steak was cooked correctly internally, but the outside was overly charred to the point that it affected the flavor. The broccolini was burnt and extremely salty, so we sent it back immediately. The potatoes were also overly salty, watery, and lacked the onion flavor described on the menu. Overall, the menu descriptions simply did not match the dishes that were brought to our table. I will say the espresso martini was honestly the best part of the evening. Also, the evening manager, whose name I believe was Kensley, did bring out a butter cake as an apology, which was appreciated. I enjoyed another great visit, but I've was more focused on dessert this time. Amy was great. She was attentive and considerate. She offered great service. There was a crowd because there was an opera at the music hall, so a lot of purple for the opening night. I had the 7oz filet mignon with charred onion mashed potatoes, elote-style corn, and grilled asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the $3 compound butter was absolutely worth it. The potatoes were amazing, and while I wish there was a bit more asparagus, the flavors were spot-on. Drinks were great too -- the espresso martini was fresh and not pre-made. Cozy and intimate seating (not small per se; you're close to other diners but it didn't seem that cramped, but then again we had a corner booth?). Food was EXCELLENT - my wife had a filet and I had the Lobster Americaine, which I thought was spectacular. We also ordered the burrata appetizer (good) and an onion mashed potatoes as a side - the mashed potatoes were shockingly good! We did order a side meatball as well, which was just OK. Once again they hit a home run - oysters from New Brunswick were delicious, a hearty Gem salad, the burrata and pear over the grilled bread was wonderful, the espresso martini was as good as everyone says it is (!), the filet mignon needed NO accompaniment of sauce because THAT'S the mark of a great steak well-prepared, and the service from entering to exiting and everything in between was top notch. Losanti is one of our top restaurants in Cincinnati and we take every opportunity we can to visit for a nice meal. We went for our anniversary most recently and it was excellent as usual. We had the burrata and crab cake appetizers. I don't usually like peach but the burrata was still excellent while the crab cake was meaty and delicious. The green beans with the crab cake were a little too rich for me but had a nice flavor. After the appetizers, I was already feeling full and wishing I'd paced myself better, but our entrees were worth it. I had the chicken parm which comes with spaghetti. It's a huge portion and such comfort food. My husband had the steak with roasted garlic on it and said it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. On the side, we shared the macaroni and cheese and truffle fries. I'm not the biggest fan of mac, but this one has a deep and delicious umami flavor, totally worth trying. The truffle fries were indulgent and one of my favorite things on the table! In previous visits, we've had the giant meatballs, mushrooms, and wedge salad - all are amazing so I included photos of those too. Service is always top notch and the setting is excellent too. Food was great, atmosphere was great. most of the staff was great. Our server was HORRIBLE. i hate giving two stars and almost never leave bad reviews but i was so disappointed. We had reservations and were sat quickly. Hosts were extremely kind and quick. 5-10 minutes after seating, our server comes to introduce himself. i dont recall his name but he had red short hair and a beard and some tattoos, had a tattoo on his hand. IF YOU GET THIS SERVER GO AHEAD AND ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE... this dude was blitzed out of his mind high or drunk or worse. he was moving at a snail speed, talking extremely low and slow, was giggling awkwardly at extremely awkward times, took abnormally long to ask us what we needed and took abnormally long to respond to questions. We put in 3 drink orders and he left. he lowkey looked like tyler childers. he didnt come back for, and yes we counted, 25 minutes. we were sat in view of the bar and saw our drinks MADE+ready after 10 mins. they just sat there for 15 mins untouched, other servers were very dilligent and running drinks made after ours were. we ran out of water in this time and was not refilled. for at least 5 minutes of that time our server was RIGHT NEXT TO the drinks, having a long lovely conversation with some guests next to him. which is fine, but run your drinks first dude. Eventually a food runner or bar tender who was very nice gave us our drinks. We asked if they could tell the server we were ready to order. they did and he came over. after a painful and weird long time trying to act normal with this extremely weird dude, we got our food order put in. not a single bit of food was given to us by our server. water was not refilled by him either apps came quickly and were DELICIOUS (foccacia and crab cake). soon after, our meals came. mac n cheese is great, potatoes were amazing, salmon and steaks were to die for. after food was dropped off we wanted more cocktails and had to ask another server to find our server. he came and got our drink orders. acting weird as hell the whole time obviously. drinks were again given to us by the bartender and not him. not a single time did he touch our table and ask if we needed anything. WE had to get him. thanks to the many staff who were kind enough to do this mans job for him! yall were amazing he only came back to give us the check. i tipped good obviously bc i know a cut goes to the helping staff. but truly i hope he takes home very little of that tip. LOSANTI you guys know who im talking about. please do something with this dude. he can smoke bowls and work in the kitchen i guess but this dude was NOT functioning well at all on the floor. it truly messed up our experience. i want to come back sometime but this dude needs to GOOOOO. im genuinely saying this to help you guys. We were seated outside, which was lit with strands of lights & heated. It was a very environment, & shockingly warm despite the cold weather. Our server was knowledgeable & kind, but I must complain that they did not do anything special for the birthday we were celebrating; I understand not adding a candle in the cake isn't a huge deal, but I was hoping for some celebratory flair. We thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails, but I was shocked to see that the non-alcoholic options were the same price as the alcohol-containing drinks. To me, that seems like a scam; I am a huge supporter of mocktails, but $15 is a crazy price to pay for one. We ordered the steak frites & the burger. Both were delicious, but the steak frites had some issues. First, the steak is tiny; when they first brought the order out, I thought it was a half portion, as the steak appeared to be half of a normal cut. For $40, it was an embarrassingly small amount of meat. Second, it was lukewarm at best. We told our server, who offered to reheat it, but it was brought back still barely warm. That being said, the entrees were delicious. I was especially impressed with the burger, which was well worth $18 price tag. We also got house salad, but it was incredibly bland, even with the salami & olives. I would not recommend this salad. Next was dessert: the immaculate butter cake. In the past, it was served hot & this cake was slightly warm, which was slightly disappointing. But temperature aside, it is one of the best desserts I've ever had. The service was prompt and friendly, and the server we had was very happy to help guide us with our choices. I always appreciate that. If you are drinking, they have an extensive wine list, all your classic cocktails, and even some non-alcoholic cocktail options. We ordered the shrimp scampi for our appetizer, and it was lovely. My wife and I had eaten at Losanti several times in the past few years. We always enjoyed our meals. Our visit this past Wednesday was really weird. First of all we went to Losanti's location and found a restaurant closed and under construction. We finally noticed the small sign on the door that said the restaurant was temporarily operating in Five's now closed space. So the food....we both had individual salads that were very good and large enough for a family of four! I had the wedge and she had the kale. She had the mussels and enjoyed them immensely. My steak (ribeye) was another story. When it was presented it really didn't look like an expensive steak which it was. I had never ordered steaks at Losanti but had read how great they were supposed to be. I thought that it was unusual that the steak appeared to be no thicker than 5/8". I've never had an expensive steak that was so thin. Anyway, when I cut into it, it was raw (I had ordered medium rare). A few minutes later it was brought back correctly cooked. Unfortunately while it tasted good, it was tough and hard to chew, so I took most of it home for my dog. So while I was very disappointed in the steak, the waitress was phenomenal. She took 30% off of the steak and also comped dessert. I can't say enough about the friendliness and caring of the waitress. She was perfect, and most of the food was fine.So we will definitely be back, but maybe not order steak. read more

We visited Losanti for my son's birthday and decided to make an experience out of it. Although it's an upscale steak house the vibe inside felt a little more casual and relaxed. We started with the meatballs as an appetizer. They did not disappoint. Then we ordered our meat. I got the filet mignon- Philly style, so it came with a yummy cream sauce on it. Cooked to perfection! The sides are all shareable. You do not get any sides with your steak. We ordered the asparagus, mac and cheese, and elote corn. All were excellent, but the elote corn stole the show and I'm a Mac and cheese girl all day. Lastly, we split the butter cake. Do not go here without getting the butter cake- it was AMAZING! They have a full bar- we enjoyed an old fashioned. Definitely pricey and the service was pretty good, but not fantastic for the price we paid. I would definitely visit this establishment again! One negative note- you have to give them a credit card number to hold a reservation and if you're a no-show they charge you $20 per head. Didn't really like that. read more

We have been here several times and have had good experiences. We went the other night with two other couples for a birthday celebration. Most of the food was very good. Two of us had pasta dishes that came out cold. One of us asked to get some Parmesan on top of the pasta, which was not a problem. However, when we got the bill we noticed a $1.25 charge for the Parmesan. It's not that it's that much but when the table is spending over $500 it seems very chintzy to charge for a sprinkle of cheese. I've never been to a restaurant that charged extra for a sprinkle of cheese on a pasta dish. I hope it was worth $1.25 to leave a bad taste in the mouths of 6 customers. read more

This spot is named in honor of the city's founding name, Losantiville, which combines words in four languages to mean "the city across from the mouth of the Licking River." I sat on the patio and ordered the Caesar salad with tons of shaved parm. And you know I got the swordfish. We're at a steakhouse and steakhouses over compensate for their fish dishes and this is just more evidence of that. The swordfish had a Mediterranean flare with olives and capers. Delicious.
