Great spot for lunch today. 50 sandwiches made it honestly hard to pick from. They also have DIY sandwiches, pizza and pastas. Great outdoor patio to enjoy the weather today. Their big schtick is dogs and dog rescues which I love as the owner of a rescue dog myself. My only complaint was the Italian waffle fry appetizer for like $7 is literally stor bought seasoned waffle fries. Those are a $3 side not a $7 app. I was expecting some sort of Italian seasoning mix or something made in house dusted on hot waffle fries fresh from fryer. read more

We were all super impressed by our first visit to Lost Dog several weekends ago. They have a huge menu and there's something for everyone. So much seating and cool things like trivia on weekends. I have heard of this place often but never tried it till tonight. We ordered a few appetizers for the table, then me and a friend got a pizza to share. The food was really great. The crab dip and garlic bread with marinara was perfect. Fries were yum. The pizza (Italian) was decent. The guac and salsa was fresh. The place was a good family restaurant with a nice size bar area. The only thing that was annoying was the menu print with the sandwiches and pizza sections are like lull you to sleep trying to read through all of them. The font just seemed like that peanuts cartoon teacher talking "wah wah wah, wa wa wah". Our server was very nice, quick, offered suggestions when we asked. read more

We came in tonight for an early dinner. It was a little bit before 5 PM and I think they just weren't ready for guests yet. It took them a while to figure out seating us even though there was no one they're eating. Once they got that figured out everything was great. The food was wonderful. The atmosphere was nice and chill as well. I would definitely come here again! I was having my car serviced nearby, and required some sustenance. I saw the positive reviews for Lost Dog, so walked over to get a bite. It was after the lunch rush, and service was great. We were well taken care of. The decor is lovely. Lots of cartoonish artwork depicting dogs and Fairfax history. Fun and cute. The menu is large, mostly sandwiches and pizza. Also, a selection of salads and a couple of soup options. I ordered the half salad, Greek, and a bowl of the chicken corn chowder. The salad was fresh and the greens were nice. The soup had very fresh corn and nice cubes of chicken. The broth was very tasty and homemade. My daughter ordered a chicken sandwich, which she liked as well. I'd love to come back to try their pizza. I'm guessing it's pretty good! I recommend this place for casual dining and light fare. For the first time in years, I went back to a Lost Dog Cafe location. I used to spend time at the Arlington location every month for six, maybe seven, years. To the point where I at one point had eaten every single sandwich on the menu (many dozens!). I was also a fan of the pizza, and the price point for a sandwich with fries was spectacular "back in the day." Fast forward to last week, when I dropped in for a meal at the Dunn Loring location. The space felt like a Lost Dog, with the cute painted paw prints and the younger servers and the trivia night in the bar space off the main dining area. So, look and feel? So far, so good. Then we ordered. Lost Dog has fallen a long way from the olden times, or maybe my original feelings of the chain were way off. Either way, I opened the menu and decided I would dive back in with The Phoenix, one of my previous favorites. I don't know how the prices have spiked to make a pita sandwich cost $12.75, but 2024/25 is a wild time to try and eat out. Then, insult to injury--the Italian fries (the waffle fries) cost an extra $6.25. So, you're telling me that a pita sammie and fries costs NINETEEN DOLLARS, plus tax? Are you freakin' kidding me??? For the first time in months, maybe all year, I ordered a sandwich "naked", so just the sandwich, no fries/chips on the side. The price took my breath away, and then the sandwich arrived and it was a minor disappointment. Was I wrong about you, The Phoenix? Were you always this messy? Were you always this average? My Allagash White was served somewhat warm, my wife didn't enjoy her sandwich, and after tallying up everything, it felt weird to say that we spent $94 for sandwiches and pizza at Lost Dog. The value proposition feels a bit off now, but more importantly, the quality of the meal just wasn't special. It's sad to say goodbye, but this visit confirmed that Lost Dog is now off the list when I come back to visit the DC area. It had to happen sometime! read more

Lost dog cafe is like that mediocre guy you dated that you don't really like but go back to when you're bored. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bland af but at least you won't starve. The turkey Reuben is the most tasty option I have tried but the salads aren't bad either. Just be sure to eat it quick or you'll be left with soggy bread and waffle fries. read more

The service wasn't great, I felt unheard. The fries were actually so expensive but yet there's barely any fries in the bag. It wasn't clean. I do not recommend this place. I personally didn't like it since the mac and cheese seems like it was reheated. There's no extra special ingredients to that. No flavor. read more

A nice place to grab a beer and a bite (been coming here occasionally since 2013)... not to mention that the indoor mural artwork is great and creative! Just hope to see more craft beers added to the menu (can never have too many), and tater tots would be a nice addition to the appetizers, as well as chicken wings in my opinion. We've been wanting to come here for awhile now and finally made it one afternoon. Walking in you're immediately greeted with a lot of funky artwork. I stared absent-mindedly while I waited for our lunch trying to make sense of some of the art. Why is that dog wearing pants but the one next to him not? I made a major mistake when I decided to go rogue and order a sandwich that I created. I essentially wanted a tuna melt and made the mistake of not getting extra mayo on it and so it ate extremely dry and bready with cold tuna that wasn't really warmed up. But again, my mistake. I should have went for one of the pre-made sammies like the boyfriend did. Because after taking a few bites of his El Paso Pup, I was sorely jealous. It was very tasty. Ugh, so much food regret. I will definitely come back and try their other sandwiches as there's so much to choose from. And the brews like great too. Ordered food through Uber Eats and this is the $10 slice of peanut butter pie that was delivered. It is so tiny that I'm sure that they probably get 16 slices out of a single pie. I'm a big fan of their mission to support rescuing area dogs and cats. Otherwise, this place is just okay but nothing special. Their salads are okay (I usually have the howling hound) but nothing amazing and same for the sandwiches. The waffle fries are pretty good but the onion rings alternate between tasty and way too soggy. They have trivia on Sunday nights which is fun but the layout in the bar area is kinda awkward and it's hard for more than maybe 2-3 people to really sit together to play on a team. They do have a good beer selection and the staff is really friendly. I come here occasionally and hope they're around for a really long time since I like their mission a lot but overall it's just an average place. read more

Sometimes a wide array of choices is great, but in this case I don't know that it works since my sandwich was average. The service was great at the bar area and they have TVs for sporting events, so this is a plus if looking for a place in the area with a game or two on. In addition, there is plenty of parking available in a nearby garage. Lost Dog Cafe will be worth another shot in the future and perhaps I will try a different sandwich from their menu of 50 or so featured on the menu. read more

Ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza for 23 dollars. Apart from the large not actually living up to its name (was I given a medium Instead or something?) This is an insulting joke for a 23 dollar pizza. The crust is as thin as a crepe and is extraordinarily floppy soggy. If you're going to make thin crust, make sure it's crispy. You literally cannot pick up and eat a slice without everything just completely sliding off. It's unacceptable guys. Please put some more care into what you're making. It's not cool. read more

After years of ordering here....dine in, take out & delivery, the time has come to part ways. The last 3 deivery orders were wrong, and/or missing items. When you call to inquire there is clear indifference in the employee's voice. The last time we dined in, we(party of 2) were the only customers in the bar and patio. The bartender was handling both areas, and was doing poorly. Empty beer glasses, empty water glasses, never checked on us after food was brought out. Nothing. We picked up a couple of to-go sandwiches without much waiting. The sandwiches were good enough but nothing special, fairly bland and a mistake on the wife's. I will say that the fries did taste like they were from a frozen bag however they were crispy and lightly seasoned. The staff are all very calm and friendly. Very welcoming restaurant. I dined in. I have just recently moved to the apartments upstairs, so this place is very convenient to go to whenever I want a quick meal or beer. Turns out last night the Caps won the Stanley Cup which brings the first time in my young life that I've seen a DC sports team bring home a trophy. I was happy to share that moment with my girlfriend and the patrons at The Lost Dog Cafe! Any who, I like the beer selection here and the bar area. Seems to have plenty of space. I also like how they have the means to open up the wall for the patio seating which I can see being amazing on Summer evenings. The one thing I've noticed are the pizza boxes. Pizza boxes everywhere. I see empty ones in the trash room on my floor in the apartments. Great way to advertise, it got me. I had to try out the pizza. I tried out the Rin Tin Tin Pie which I thought was good because it came with a wheat crust. My girlfriend didn't like it as much as I did only because that's not her style of pizza. A big plus is that they do deliver at least to the connecting apartments. I am not sure about other places in the area. As a big plus, with my card connected on yelp, I currently get 7% cash back when I dine here. That's awesome!! For that reason a lone, I think I will be a regular. Cheers! read more

Update: the manager messaged me to offer a replacement pizza and I didn't see his message for a long time! (My fault). I have continued to order from this location though, regardless of my past experience, and even the Big Red pizza has majorly improved! (Looked just like the menu photo and included all the correct ingredients) huge improvement and will continue to patronize this and their other locations. This review is for the Dunn Loring Lost Dog location. I ordered delivery which was fast, but little care was taken when making this "gourmet" pizza. I ordered the Big Red with added pepperoni which I've had before at the Westover and Alexandria locations. This one was totally undercooked, overloaded with cheese (usually it's a pleasant surprise to get "extra" of something but this was not the good kind of extra,) and completely missing the basil that makes this specific pizza good. It also looked like it had been dropped, with the cheese all shifted over one side. I barely ate it and had to make myself something to eat which defeated the whole point of ordering delivery on a relaxing Sunday night. I was initially really annoyed that the pizza I regularly order was totally different than normal with a super thin crust and burnt and brown on the ends. So I was honestly ready to stop ordering from them due to my disappointment in the food quality. But after calling them, they were super with their customer service and sent me a new one and this one looked and tasted great as it normally does. What impressed me about Lost Dog is the value you get. The food portions are huge compared to the price! The Italian fries were only a few bucks and they gave us so much. My bf's Italian Pie was also a good size and he thought it had good flavors. I got the Baked Chicken Pesto and they did not skimp on the cheese! I would come back for this dish. I'd recommend sitting on the patio when it's nice out to see all the different dogs with their owners. Lost Dog lost stars from me due to their service. We ate for maybe 30 minutes but had to stay for about 2 hours. Granted there were only a few servers but no one came to check on us and it took forever to flag someone down to get the check.
