Before dining in at Lazy Dog, we had only ever ordered takeout - and every single time, we had to get the hot honey feta dip because it's genuinely addicting. Finally coming in for lunch did not disappoint. We tried their "3 Bites & Small Plates" deal for $25, and it was absolutely worth it. We went with the feta dip (of course), cheddar cheese curds, and tikka masala meatballs. For a non-Indian restaurant, the tikka masala was surprisingly on point - really flavorful and well-balanced. The cheese curds were super satisfying, especially dipped into the sauces they come with. But the star of the show is still the hot honey feta dip. The bread is lightly charred, giving it a subtle smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with the warm, salty, gooey feta and sweet honey. It's one of those dishes you think about after you leave. For drinks, I had the Wild Blueberry Lemon Drop - very refreshing and definitely on the stronger side (it is a martini, so no complaints). We also tried the watermelon margarita - pro tip: ask for it with tajin, it makes a huge difference. For entrées, we got the lunch grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was exactly what you'd hope for - comforting and classic. We added candied bacon to the grilled cheese and didn't regret it at all. We also had the quarter pound burger, which tasted fresh and really hit the spot. The fries were perfect - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. And yes - I loved the hot honey feta dip so much that I actually ordered it as my entrée too, no regrets at all. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and the overall vibe inside is very chill and lowkey. We sat outside by the fireplace, and even with the weather warming up, it was surprisingly comfortable with the fans going. Customer service, I'll give this place 5 stars but food, maybe a 2. We came for dinner on a Saturday wanting to try a place we've never been to. The menu is pretty diverse and there are a lot of options. Me and my daughter ordered the chicken Alfredo and maybe that's where I went wrong. It was lukewarm, chicken was dry and tough, we couldn't finish it. My other daughter had the beef birria. She seemed to enjoy it. Hers were significantly more hot as it came out later. It must have been busy because the manager came by and apologize. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. I ordered a rum punch. Dined in for dinner on a Sunday evening. This place was on my list because it has a burger served with peanut butter. But I didn't feel like having a burger so I skipped it. Instead I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken. It had a lot of delicious ingredients (chicken, yellow rice, tomato-cucumber-feta, tzatziki sauce, red pepper hummus) but it was just ok. For dessert I had the Campfire Cookies. These were amazing! Especially for looking not-so-special. The cookies were regular size so I really got my sweet tooth fix. And when I bit into them, I was greeted with delicious chocolate and white chocolate bits. So good! The menu mentions caramel pretzels and even though I asked about that, no idea where they were. Maybe it was the drizzle. I also had vanilla ice cream. The restaurant itself has a cozy vibe. That might be because I was sitting near the fireplace. But, a nice spot overall. Fair Oaks has got a real gem. For me. The convenience of a large parking lot right outside of the restaurant earns it 5 stars alone. Staff is so friendly. They approached us right away. Our server was very patient and came over to check on us regularly. We asked about their "famous to-go frozen TV dinners". It was something I'd never tried but the server was very good at explaining the concept. Food is good. I loved that they offer a small lunch portion of certain dishes. I ordered the fish and chip lunch. It came with 2 sides and I asked for double mashed potatoes. Those were slightly salty but tastes like home style Thanksgiving potatoes. The 2 fish sticks were crunchy and not greasy. To be honest, I probably could have eaten - more stick. The concept of bringing your pups to dine with you in their covered outdoor patio is amazing. Special thanks to Colin for making our visit special! He was patient and gave us choices from the menu and his favorite dishes. I visited the Chantilly location last weekend and the service, atmosphere and food were great at both locations. I again went with the Cowboy Ribeye burger and it was perfectly cooked - juicy and flavorful. Colin recommended the Tropical drink and inside out quesadilla, they were both delicious! The quesadilla was filled with shredded chicken and the drink had a nice subtle coconut flavor. Next weekend I'm going to have to come for brunch; the options looked tasty! read more

The server who sat us, Tom, was rude to my grandfather. He was walking us to be seated at a 4 top table with wooden chairs. Fine, cool. But my grandfather has a poor back so he asked if we could get a booth instead. Tom then proceeds to roll his eyes, turn away to a booth, slam the menus and silverware on the table, and walk away without a word. Usually I wouldn't care because who knows, maybe he's having a bad day. But my grandfather is a kind man, and he is visiting from out of town. So it was really hard to see him being treated like that in my hometown, it's embarrassing. So please, talk to your seaters/servers. The crunchy ahi tuna over rice was fresh (ginger was a nice touch), nicely seasoned, plus some veggies, and the rice also had good flavor from the spicy seasoning and furikake. I had visited this place a few months ago and my wife loved the PB&J burger. She loved the taste and she finished it all before I finished my meal. We came back for the PB&J burger and brought our family friends. Her burger was great. However not so great service. Our waiter brought us small dishes for our small plate selections. We were brought dishes with leftover food on them. We returned them. Our waiter also didn't come back regularly to see if we needed drink refills or how we were doing. I decided to try the Loco Moco (new item on the menu and it looked good). The dish was good but they forgot to put the side of gravy on the side. Other family dishes were good (fish and chips, bison burger, omelette). We will probably come back again for the PB&J burger. Hope the dishes and service is better next visit. read more

To be honest, I'm always skeptical of big franchises, but this restaurant was surprisingly good! The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and it has like a "cabin" feel inside with wood decor. The place was very lively. For a weeknight. I got the Grill Idaho Trout and it was very delicious. It comes with potatoes and green beans as a side. I love fish and it was very tender and not dry at all. This was the best item that I tried. Cowboy Ribeye Burger In concept it sounded great, in application it was lacking. The shaved ribeye was so over cooked it was leathery, maybe they microwaved the whole thing? As the temperature on the burger was well past the medium I ordered. Creamy horseradish sauce was good. All in all not a fan. Onion rings were over cooked to the point that it was onion ring chips. I prefer my onion rings to still have tender onions on the inside. They still had a nice color to them, just fried too hard for me. Fried Chicken Sandwich This was like warm at best. It really felt like they reheated the chicken as the other cold toppings made the overall sandwich cold to eat. Also the cheese wasn't fully melted so gives off the whole reheated or sat under hot lamp vibe. The slaw was a bit too sweet. The cucumber salad was overly sweet. Strawberry Lemonade Good balance of tart and sweet. All in all, the appetizers were a hit as those seem to be made to order. The other items seemed more like reheated or made a white ago kept under heat lamp to stay warm, which I prefer freshly cooked items. My wife and I typically don't visit chain restaurants that focus on American food. However, Lazy Dog in Fair Oaks is among the few restaurants near our home to offer a bison burger, so we gave it a shot when a strong craving for burgers and fries hit my then pregnant, non-beef-eating wife. When we arrived on a weeknight, we were surprised to find the dining room half full of patrons. We were seated immediately and put our orders in quickly. Our burgers were satisfactory. Though cooked a bit over our requested medium, the patties remained juicy and the burgers themselves had great flavor combinations. The fries stayed crispy throughout our meal and made for pleasant munching. We have since returned to Lazy Dog for brunch with our new baby in tow. We find the brunch offerings here tastier and more compelling than the routine menu. Standouts include an indulgent brunch burger as well as addictive and creative pancake tacos with bacon and eggs. The vibe here is definitely classic American restaurant including a cavernous dining room, wood accents, and multiple TVs playing sports. The restaurant does boast a large, covered patio which makes for pleasant outdoor dining. Service is hit or miss. During our first meal, our waiter was initially helpful and attentive, but hovered over our table before we were done eating waiting for us to pay the check so he could leave. On our second outing for brunch, our waitress was MIA 90% of our meal and I had to flag down other servers to receive help. Overall though, for above average American food with some creative touches, you could do much worse than Lazy Dog. While it won't fully supplant our favorite brunch or bison burger places, for an easy, family friendly meal we will surely return. read more

I don't eat dairy and the staff was kind enough to provide us with a special nutrition menu that told us which of the menu items contains milk. The bottom line: solid bar food, great service, and a nice open atmosphere. Other than having a slightly soft spoken server, the service was a strong part of the a recent outing. On the food front, the Cuban sandwich was well made, with melty meat and cheese and nicely toasted bread. The umami fries were perfectly cooked, but pretty lame that they cost $2.50 for a few sprinkles of furikake to make them "umami." I would definitely choose different fries next time. The free garlic Parmesan chips were a tasty surprise (since it was a first visit). For deals, the build you own lunch seemed to come with a giant salad and half sandwich and side, which seemed like a bargain given the relatively high prices. Also, the side of fries was enough for a family of four, another bargain! On to the drinks, the huckleberry IPA was tasty and refreshing for summer. One member of the group could smell the berries as the beer passed in front of her, but it wasn't hazy as advertised--I could see straight through it.
