Centro reopened with outside patio service in the "reclaimed" parking spaces on Jackson St. which make for a nice open socially distanced seating area. The host seated us quickly and in under a minute our server arrived with ice water, a smile underneath her mask, ready to take drink orders. Two margaritas to start the evening, a toast to beautiful weather and the first meal out in almost three months! (I can't shake the feeling of guilt though) We each ordered three tacos, I had a grilled shrimp, chorizo, and, on our servers recommendation, steak; my wife had a breaded tilapia, veggie, and pork. All the tacos were delicious with the chorizo and shrimp my favorite! The great service, delicious tacos and refreshing margaritas made for a wonderful evening out. We'll definitely be back soon! (Can you imagine reading this review in the beginning of 2020? Socially distanced seating, servers with masks! Crazy new world.)

These tacos had such good flavors. They were more authentic tacos, and tasted amazing. We also had chips queso, and guacamole. The queso was so yummy. I have heard some shady stuff people do here with drinks, which concerns me. So I don't recommend the bar, but the food was spot on

Already had dug in, steak fries AMAZING!

You won't be disappointed, hands down THE best tacos I've ever had. You can good quality meats, fresh, homemade sauces. Authenticity you can taste. Wish this was closer to home, but for now glad I have a place to come to when visiting my Hokie.

Great to-go service and a variety of food choices on the menu. We ordered birria tacos with ramen, black bean burritos, mozzarella sticks, chorizo asada waffle fries and a few tasty margaritas ! Definitely a must-try in Blacksburg !

Three tacos - el pastor, chorizo, and steak. Overall really tasty, good salsa

Tried this place out for the first time tonight in the outdoor seating they now have. Overall we where really happy with the food. The tacos are your standard flavors but really solid. I hope in the future they have some more specialty tacos with different flavors and combinations. 2-3 tacos is a standard order, we also ordered 1 chips and guacamole to share and it was plenty.

We got their Chicken Quesadilla, Birria Tacos (3) with noodles. And the Centro sampler

Best Mexican food in Blacksburg and Christiansburg. I've tried most if not all Mexican spots in both areas and even though some were good but the portions were too little for their price.:: and some places had really dry chicken or the food wasn't good at all. But so far centro is my absolute favorite. The Birria tacos were too salty for my liking but they were good. One thing I didn't like was the chips and salsa, the salsa wasn't good at all.

Ask the Community - Centro Taco Bar

It is difficult to review a restaurant to which I have never been; however what is keeping me away from Centro Taco are the usual items I see on the menu like rice, beans, salsa types, spiciness of the food, etc. Can one get a full mean here?

Depends what you mean...I'm assuming you're asking about a full 'meal' vs wanting to see a full 'menu'? And if you meant 'meal', depends on what your definition of 'full meal' is.… Read more

Lost in space?) From the shiny chrome restaurant exterior that resembles a space ship, to the menu that has things on it like The Black Hole (a black bean burger) to the Creamy Spudnik Soup (potato cheddar soup, basically). It's all outer space, all the time, at Lost in Taste. I visited Lost in Taste with a group, and we all got a bunch of different things. One of the things that was first on my list to order was a cup of coffee. And even though I was visiting for a late lunch, they had coffee brewed and ready to go. Sweet! That perked me right up. My group got a few different appetizers for the table. We got the Canis Comets, which are huge hush puppies (think palm-sized) served with blackberry jam and round balls of soft, salted butter. They came three to an order, and they were delicious, and definitely enough to feed six people because we cut them in half. Another appetizer we ordered was the Big Bang Shrimp, which was breaded shrimp topped with a drizzle of signature sauce. These were delicious, too! The Big Bang Shrimp come eight to an order. One of the people in our group was a wing aficionado, so we also got the traditional, jumbo, bone-in wings, which are served with chips. There are nine different sauces to choose from, and we got the wings slathered in Jupiter's Storm, a mango habanero sauce. Very good! I don't typically like bone-in wings because I think they are a scam, but I appreciated the sweet and savory flavors of these wings. As for me, I got the Caesar salad (meh) and the B.L.I.T. sandwich: bacon, lettuce, interstellar tomato and mayo. It was very good and huge! If you like bacon, then this is the sandwich for you. Lost in Taste is space themed, but it also has an old-fashioned diner vibe. It's a fun restaurant to visit if you want diner food, and also be surrounded by space.

The space theme is clever -- from the play on words in the restaurant name to the decor and menu items (I have to give credit for "Bobba Fettucine Alfredo"). It was a fun touch, although the restaurant itself has more of a casual diner feel inside and out. I ordered the ribeye sandwich, and while what little ribeye there was tasted good, I definitely wished there had been more of it. We also tried the grilled squash and zucchini, which improved once we added our own seasoning. My sister ordered the potato soup, but unfortunately it was way too salty to enjoy. Overall, the staff was friendly and the concept was creative, but the food itself never quite launched into orbit. There are definitely some bright stars in the idea behind the restaurant, but the flavors didn't quite reach escape velocity for us. I'm glad we explored this little corner of the food galaxy, but based on this visit, it probably wouldn't be a repeat mission.

I remember my visit was a special one as it was busy, yet the service and food were impeccable. Bull & Bones put their best foot forward that night and I left Blacksburg thinking that B&B was one reliable dining spot. Neal & I returned on 11/15/25 to check out Tech's football game at Florida State (our hotel wasn't televising the game). We were in town to check out VT v. Charlotte - a basketball game that featured some promising young talent for the Hokies. Of course, I arrived at B&B with high hopes since my previous experience was a memorable one. Unfortunately, my latest visit wasn't quite as good. The evening began well enough - there were plenty of available seats at the bar and we were greeted almost immediately. Our server was nice and pleasant, and returned with our drink orders promptly. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and we were able to order without issue. We weren't in a rush, and the vibe was fairly chill. I didn't expect top tier service, but there were stretches in which an employee couldn't be located in order to get continued service. For example, our server was cut (yet no one informed us) - we didn't see her after she took our dinner orders. I looked around constantly to ask for another round of drinks, but she wasn't around. While waiting for our entrees, what appeared to be the manager on duty stopped by to tell us that our entrees may take a while because our ticket was sent to the kitchen right behind a 40-top's order. He was apologetic, but we were cool with it because of the game. Surprisingly, our food arrived less than 10 minutes after the manager's table visit - we probably wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong if he hadn't said anything. I appreciated the transparency, though. I saw it as one of the evening's highlights. After the food arrived, it was a constant struggle to find any available server (as a reminder, no one told us she was cut). Refills and/or more rounds of drinks were held to a minimum. That irked me - it got to the point where I went to bar whenever I needed something (I wouldn't have minded doing that during the visit, but they set the expectation by providing table service - meaning I want table service for the duration). Neal ordered wings, while I decided to go big with a ribeye. Neal devoured his entree but I wasn't happy with mine. I ordered the ribeye rare - it came out nearly well-done. My entree came with two sides - I ordered sweet potato fries and rice. The sweet potato fries were overcooked and burnt. I tried one fry and one fry only because it was charred and inedible. The rice wasn't much better as it was cold and mushy. Since a garlic parm fries appetizer was already at our table, I loaded up on that since they were pretty good. The steak was passable since it wasn't completely dry, so I ate about half of that before I became full. So, B&B was a miss, imo, this time around. It would be easy to dismiss this as things going haywire during a busy Saturday night dinner service but, outside of the 40-top, they were empty. So, this visit felt like B&B's quality has gone downhill. I hope this isn't the norm for B&B because they honestly are a good place. But after time, some businesses lose their focus, and it felt like B&B reached that stage. Hopefully they can re-evaluate, reinvent, refocus and improve, but if their food quality continues to suffer, they won't last. Thank you, Bull & Bones. JV

My top-tier chum who…read moreliterally went to the school of hospitality (down the street at VA Tech!) and I came by here this past Tuesday night after a few other potential dinner spots fell through - the week after graduation is not the best for college town restaurant reliability. This was one of the few businesses with a kitchen still open, and had the distinction of being the only restaurant she'd actually been to when she was in college here over 20 years ago. Certainly a testament to the power of Mexican food and the young pups who will eat it any hour of the day and night. Unlike her last visit, El Rodeo apparently isn't as dark and divey as it used to be. A shame in my view, but it is what it is. The walls are painted a bright white, and if you didn't have the menus and margaritas roaming around, it could have hosted any genre of cuisine. There was an outdoor dining area that was pretty hopping but we opted for indoors and were immediately seated in a spacious booth with views of giant TVs showing a wild Cavs/Knicks playoff game. I wasn't obscenely hungry so I avoided eye contact with the burritos and instead went for a chicken/cheese quesadilla and a large glass of water. The quesadilla showed up within a few minutes and honestly really hit the spot. It was SUPER cheesy (in terms of flavor, not quantity, which I liked - I'm all about an ingredient equilibrium with my food), and I loved the crispness of the tortilla. The chicken was nicely shredded and seasoned, and it was generous portion to the point where I was only able to eat about half of it. The rest came back to the hotel with us to be consumed at a later time. The service was excellent. The turnaround time of the food was insanely quick, and the only noticeable delay was when our waiter understandably needed to attend to a wild 21st birthday celebration at a nearby table. Happy Birthday to her, and I hope the margaritas treated her well. College town restaurants kind of are what they are - it's not really the land of bougie gastropubs but rather affordable tasty shizzle that you might impulsively eat in the middle of the night. Solid recommend.

I was especially a big fan of the grilled onions and the peppers, as these were cooked really well. however, the tomatoes weren't great. charging extra for these was a little strange, but I didn't mind it what really brings the dish overall together and takes it to another level is the cheese dip that mixes throughout everything if this was too cheesy - it would ruin the entire dish by making it practically inedible if it didn't have a strong flavor, the entire dish would basically feel plain however, this was just perfect. It had a hint of cheese, but most surprisingly, it had a bunch of other flavors in there too that created a sauce that coated every part of the dish and significantly increased the flavor of everything it touched this resulted in the overall meal having a comforting, deep flavor profile that was really, really good The margarita was also decent - it was super sugary and you couldn't taste the alcohol that much, but it was enjoyable to drink For the price, this was a pretty great deal. When adding the vegetables onto the ACP, it came out to around 15 dollars, and this was a really nice portion size given that price. The jumbo margarita was also a really large drink for around 9 dollars
