OCEAN CITY, MD -- OCMD gave us the perfect mix of sunrise magic, quiet beaches, and dog friendly…read morefreedom. With 10 miles of beautiful coastline and 27 blocks of boardwalk open to leashed pups from October 1 to April 30, we got to start every morning watching the sun rise over the ocean with Brie trotting beside the waves. Pure bliss. Pro tip: pack those waste bags - you will want long, slow walks on the sand. The boardwalk (down toward the southern end) is packed with gems: Being able to enjoy the beach and the boardwalk with your pup? Truly the best part of OCMD.

The water was clean, the sand was soft, and the whole place had such a fun, welcoming vibe. I wasn't even scared of the ocean like I thought I'd be. They literally had to pull me out of the water, and I can't even swim!! Everything about the trip was perfect. The beach was spotless, and the boardwalk added so much to the experience. Between the food, the little shops, and all the attractions, it felt like there was always something to enjoy. Ocean City completely changed how I feel about the beach. I really can't wait to go back!! PS: I am accepting offers to teach me to swim to better prepare for when I head back, LOL.

I parked and spent about 20 minutes enjoying the beach and the sunshine. The beach is beautiful. No trash, firm sand and a smooth include down into the water. The waves were pretty calm today which was good because I did not spot any lifeguards on duty. A great spot to spend some time at the ocean. [Review 18162 overall - 84 in Delaware - 1684 of 2022.]

By the time we got here the facilities up front were closed so I have no idea what was available sans for restrooms and an outdoor shower. According to the website, shower and changing facilities are available, along with a food concession, chair & umbrella rentals, even a Mobi-Mat which allows wheelchairs to be pushed onto the beach (such a great idea). The sandy area is very wide and stretches for 3 miles with zero shady spots or trees. Lifeguards were gone for the day with their stands turned upside down. I noticed some vehicles actually parked on the beach near the northern end, a very cool perk that is not allowed back home. Ocean conditions were fairly calm but most folks were in waist-high water at most. OVERALL: Spacious real estate, but coming from Hawaii, my expectations are set too high, LOL.

It was so much fun-even my 16 year old who doesn't impress easily had a good time. We were lucky enough to see TONS of wildlife including horses and dolphins- sorry no picture of that. We were the only family of color on the boat, and I couldn't help but notice a pattern in how the host interacted with the passengers. Each time he came around with the sea creatures, he passed over my family and went directly to the White families. Their children were given the opportunity to hold, touch, and see the animals up close, while my family was skipped. The first time it happened, I spoke up and said, "Hey, my kids would like to hold them too," and only then did he come back to us. The second time, I intentionally stayed quiet to see if it would happen again--and it did. Once again, my family was passed over. My daughter was especially upset because she didn't get the same opportunity to participate as the other children. I can't say for certain why we were treated differently, but based on what I personally observed, it left me feeling singled out and unwelcome. No family should leave an experience feeling that way. I've attached a photo of the host from our excursion. If you're a family of color considering Assateague Adventure, I wanted to share my experience so you can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, this was not the welcoming, inclusive family outing we were expecting.

The kitchen had everything that we needed with the exception of not having any additional kitchen trash bags. All the appliances were relatively new (washer, dryer, oven, refrigerator and microwave). The wifi also worked great. Our group consisted of three families with 3 cars and there was enough parking for all the cars in the back of the house. We really liked the fact that there was a deck/patio off the front and back of the kitchen/living room level. The kids really loved the fact that their bedroom had bunk beds. We also liked that there was some security at the entrance to the community to check entering cars but it appeared that anyone could walk on the property. The property was very well maintained. It had a very nice pool and private beach. There were a lot of tree lined streets and a very large duck pond in the middle. Though there were a lot of people staying in the community, it was very quiet and was a great environment to relax. There were a number of shops within walking distance and there were some great restaurants within a very short drive. Overall our experience was great and we would stay in this community again.
