First time here. Just grooving through to see family (in TEXAS). Stopped because of rave reviews and found something special but couldn't give this 5 stars. 5 starts to me means nothing could possibly be better and every aspect of my visit was enjoyed. The food is really good, but not great. The brisket was dry but the sauce was good. My wife really enjoyed the sides as did I. The store was clean and the owner and staff were very kind and interactive. I love that this is a family owned and operated establishment, we need more of them. I think what disappointed me a bit was that the food was all kept in a cafeteria style warmer then served on Styrofoam with plastic silverware. Like a fast-food BBQ joint. Among the top BBQ in the area. If you're trying to choose between the chopped and sliced brisket, go with the sliced. The quartered chicken looked a little dry but other customers inside seemed to enjoy it. The spicy and non spicy sausage were up to par. The sauces were great. Neither completely satisfied my taste for the vinegary side but the Spicy Carolina came close. Both Carolina and Texas were great though. Certainly much better than Texas Roadhouse. If you were in North Ogden now it's certainly a better idea to come here then to get him to a franchise. Services very keen. And it is family owned. It has enough seating for about 40 here comfortably but if there is more than that they do have outdoor seating. A local favorite! Cool friendly place with great staff and great food! My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich with the spicy sauce and the ranch potatoes! Good for eat-in or take out. They just started a "frequent customer" card so pick one up! If you get your sandwiches to go, ask for the meat shaken out or packed separately so the bun doesn't get soggy. Be warned- the "Texas size" version of the sandwich is gigantic so make sure you're hungry! The kid's plate is a good size to split between my 7 and 5 year olds. And they serve Pepsi! read more

As far as Utah goes, the best BBQ you'll find in the state (coming from a Texan). Missing a few favorites like baked beans, corn, and TX toast. After reading about this place a while back, and being a "lost Texan" myself, I've been wanting to go try the BBQ. I finally found myself in the area on a Saturday that wasn't a total rush, so my daughter and I went for lunch. My 13 year-old said it best when she declared the BBQ beef sandwich tasted like Manwich. My mashed potatoes were cold. I asked where they got their pecan pie, and the reply was Sam's Club. At least she was honest, but ma'am...that's an insult to Texans everywhere. If you're going to put Texas in the name of your restaurant, represent the pie named after the state tree with some respect. No fried okra either. So disappointing. read more

I'm from Texas but now live outside of New Orleans and have a bit of experience with Texas style bbq (emphasis on the smoked brisket) Wow! Amazing BBQ! Amazing sides! Just ordered through Door Dash; got the two meat plate with two sides, but just requested double pulled pork because bbq pulled pork is my favorite. Mac and Cheese was Decent the Potato Salad was awful and tasted too heavily of pickle. White Bread with the meal was a waste - not to mention a gross decision. The pulled pork did not taste properly bbq'd and looked like it was partially bbq'd for a short while and then tossed in a slow cooker. The BBQ sauce was the worst I think I've ever had with a tremendous amount of Vinegar and Mustard flavor. If you're in the Ogden area, don't take any shortcuts and just go to Smokey's on 25th. Pinto beans are a little funky, the greens beans had Bacon but were rather flavorless. Potatoes were dry as were the meats. I paid for the "premium" sliced brisket and was disappointed. I got the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and the chopped brisket. The pulled pork was good but the brisket was not good at all. It was very mushy and nothing like Texas BBQ. They also put way too much sauce on it which made the meat even more mushy. I live in The South and work in Texas a lot. This is not a true representation of good Texas BBQ. The only really good thing was they were the only place I've been able to find that serves Sweet Tea. The bread is also nothing special. It's just a generic brand piece of white bread. If I can give them any advice it is to some how work on the brisket, go lighter on the sauce, and try making your own Texas Toast. read more

Our family of four went to this location. We each tried different meals with ribs and pulled pork. Our sides were mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. They have some of the best potatoes I've had. The Barbeque was good and meet was tender. Our meal cost about $50 and included two drinks and two desserts. The strawberry shortcake was phenomenal! Very good. I got the brisket and a pork rib with the spicy sauce. The brisket was really good. Pork was a little chewy and fatty. Difficult to get off the bone but tasted good. The spicy sauce was smokey, hot tangy and sweet. I loved it. The owner or manager was very hospitable and wanting to make sure that everyone was enjoying their meals and having a good time.
