I ordered a large Lemon custard, price just over $8 with tax. I pulled in back to eat it. I took about 3 bites and it tasted nothing like lemon. It tasted like sour milk. Took it up to get it exchanged for something else. I settled on a Non Dairy cherry item. They tried to charge me an additional $7 for it. I stated that I was not going to pay. They stated that I had eaten it 3 bites and it was what I ordered so they would not exchange it. Created a bit of an argument with the employees in order to get my new one without charge. They still did not understand the concept of honoring or standing behind their product, and probably did not check the rest of the stuff for future sales. At least the kids addressed me as sir. I love Rita's Italian Ice and when we discovered North Ogden had their own Italian ice spot, we had to try (also because it's so dang hot!). What's good to note is that they have a "drive thru" option where you pull up and someone comes out to take your order. We opted to park on the street since the drive thru was blocking our path to the back parking lot. We ordered two kid sized custards with Italian ice: one with strawberry and vanilla custard and strawberry peach ice, and a vanilla custard with root beer ice. Takeaway only applies to this place, unless it's warm outside. There are a few places to sit and enjoy your Italian ice. The flavors are great, the custard is incredible. They tend to get very busy on really warm summer nights, but the wait is worth it. They had a special cinco de Mayo concoction with mango and pineapple flavors served with chamoy and Tajin, it was so delicious. I really hope they bring it back next year! read more

There was a super nice Lady today with platinum short hair, which i never ended up figuring out her name, but she was the kindest lady ever! I was a little short and took a second to get all the correct change when my 8 year old brother decided he wanted to switch up his order after paying, he wanted strawberry instead of vanilla, and she came up with the idea to drizzle strawberry ontop, and give him a cone like he asked without making it a hassle on me, it was so kind of her since i was already stressed about money and with her help it made my day a lot better . ATTENTION YELPERS: I LOVE ZEPPES. When I was in high school this place was a nightly stop during the summers!!! This place is amazing. My favorite Italian water ice - nowhere else has compared yet. I love that they carry so many flavors nowadays and you can check out their FaceBook page to see what they have daily. My favorite is gelata (not gelata shake). It comes with custard at the bottom, Italian ice, and more custard!!! Mmmm, it's a perfect summer treat. I like root beer and orange creme the best, but I'll get other flavors based on my mood. They'll let you sample flavors too! Had to check it out, after ALL the hoopla from the locals. Grew up on the northeast US shore, so I grew up with really tasty, zesty Italian ices. Guess the bar, for me, is set a bit higher than what Utahns expect, in terms of this product, anyway. Found it to be mediocre and grossly overpriced. But, if you don't know any better, they can have you believe their ices are "out of this world" and worth every penny they're willing to have you pay for it. If you've had it from somewhere where people compete for your business by offering superior quality, these ices simply pale in comparison. Freakin' Zeppe's... Every dang time we pass this place when they're closed, it makes me mad. Because I want it!!! I don't remember what they're called, but they have frozen custard in the bottom, the water ice stuff in the middle, and then another heap of frozen custard on top. I think the flavor I am obsessed with has the word "sunset" in there somewhere... Absolutely DEEEELISH! I've also had their Sour Blue Raspberry, and that's yummy, too. One of the best places to stop for a cool summer treat. They have a huge variety of flavors, ranging in sizes small to however much your party needs. The price cannot be beat. The staff is super friendly and fast. Parking is limited, but eating it on the way home is just as much fun. I recommend my personal favorite, Lime Rickey. This place hits the spot after spending long hours out in the sun. There is usually a line at both order windows but it moves fairly fast. They also let you sample any of the ice. Staff is always friendly. Over the years they have added additional flavors so on a typical night there will be 20 or so flavors. Black cherry is our favorite. I recommend always getting the gelata which is the ice with custard on the bottom and top of the cup with the Italian ice on the middle. Get two flavors at a time to try different ones out. You can also get an ice cream cone if you want. Plan on about 4.50 for a small and about 5.00 for a large. The small is enough for me. They also have kids sizes. I frequent this place quite often, since it is on the way to my parent's house. I couldn't tell you how it compares (or doesn't compare) to real Italian ice, but I think the gelatas (custard with flavored ice) are quite delicious. Though gelata may be the main star, their soft pretzels are downright divine. I've never had the urge to drive out of my way for the gelata, but the pretzels are pretty tempting. I love Zeppes! Cotton candy gellata shake is delicious if you can tolerate insane levels of cotton candy sweet. I sure can, so it's a must. My hubby is a little bit more normal with his flavors and prefers Mango. There's a sweet treat for everybody's palate. My husband and I LOVE Zeppe's! They have so many different flavors that rotate so it's good to have more than one favorite flavor. Some of our favorite flavors include- Sunset Splash, Lime Rickey, Grape, Aqua Fusion, Coconut Creme and Orange Cream- these last two are especially delicious with the vanilla Gelato.
