Sorry, I expected better. I had heard great things, but was disappointed. Having a son living in the Houston Texas area, I've had some of the best BBQ. We had a family dinner there on April 10th. The meats were good, just not a wow factor. I had the Brisket Nachos, which were good, but it looked like a kids portion. My son had a 3 meat plate, again, good, not great, and the portions were small. I understand things are more expensive, just didn't feel the value was great. Service was good and the place is cool, but small. Loved the tribute to our military! I'll give it another try and hopefully it will impress me then! read more

There aren't too many BBQ joints that I've found in the Ogden area so I was happy to find this place one day. We loved everything about this restaurant and our meal!!! Update! We took a chance and had Lost Texan cater a party for us. We were not disappointed! We ordered the sliced brisket. (As our only meat) It was so tender and smokey. It went so fast I didn't get a single picture. We enjoyed the seasoning and juices without the BBQ sauce. Great price! Lost Texan provided everything in wrapped and boxed, then packed in a cooler for easy transport. It stayed very hot for over two hours before serving. We ordered three sides with dinner roles, Everyone was impressed. Thanks Lost Texan! read more

Out of lots of food options. While I was ordering was told that the rest of one of the meats was now reserved for another order that came in after I had started my order already. Only a half portion left of the pulled pork, so they wouldn't let me get that. I asked if the would do that and a half portion of another meat and said no we can't do that. So the remaining bit of pork would just be wasted. Portion of the meat was so small. Extremely overpriced for the amount of food I walked out with. Especially considering the limited amount of options as well. Plenty of the meat available that have an upcharge though. read more

We went about an hour before they closed and the food was still hot and very fresh. The chicken was super tender and juicy, the brisket was tender and flavorful, the sausage was tasty and the chopped brisket was delicious. The sides were REALLY good too, my husband really enjoyed the coleslaw, I loved the green beans, the mac n' cheese was creamy and the smashed ranch potatoes were yummy. I had the sweet tea to drink and that was cold and refreshing. We will definitely be eating here again. The customer service was great, they checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and asked if we liked the good. The staff was super attentive and didn't seem to mind we asked to eat-in the restaurant despite it being so late. read more

Being from Texas, I have a high expectation already. However, I heard this place was really good. We decided to give it a try. The sliced brisket was brought out to the STEAM TABLE already sliced and ready to serve. First rule broken in the religion of true Texas bbq. Apparently they keep the brisket ore sliced and ready to "heat and serve". 2nd rule broken. It was dry and tough. The Cole slaw was good. The jalapeño sausage was amazing. However, this is NOT a true representation of good Texas style bbq. It was a sad day. read more

The Lost Texan is a bbq with big aspirations, but somewhat has a mediocre result. The ribs and chicken were not bad, had a good smoke, but had been over cooked. That is the problem with most bbqs in Utah. The brisket was dry. The sauce not bad, and the sides were mostly forgettable. Try it and you might have better luck than we did, but I bet you won't. Great service, good BBQ and friendly faces at this little hole-in-the-wall in Pleasant View! We met our big family here after finding it on Yelp and it was an all around win. I had the Texas beans because the cole slaw was gone : ( but I was not disappointed! : ) They were full of flavor and tasted like chili. The smoked chicken was alright and the chopped brisket was great! I loved the twice baked ranch potatoes, and would absolutely eat here, again. This was our first visit and we definitely will be back!! We had quarter chicken, brisket and polish sausage. Our sides were the green beans, Mac and cheese and the smash potatoes. Everything was so delicious!! Our course the brisket was so tender we cut it with a fork!! My husband really like the sausage and the chicken was juicy and tasty. The food was great! We got two meat plates and were please with the flavorful, juicy BBQ. The mac and cheese is also bomb, definitely recommend. The customer service was good, the person I spoke to on the phone was polite and helpful when I asked for recommendations. My issue is that while I was in the restaurant picking up my food, i noticed that one of employees wasn't wearing a mask. The two girls working in the front were good, wearing their masks, but the guy that came out from the back carrying food had no mask in sight. If he can't follow basic safety/sanitation standards in the midst of a global pandemic, then how can I expect him to follow any other basic food safety practices? I haven't experienced this issue at any other restaurant I've been since masks became mandatory in restaurants. read more

I usually, depending upon the employees greeting the customers and the friendly felt atmosphere, leave excellent compliments and rate the place of business above Done starts. Since Yelp doesn't offer but five, you, your wife and your pleasant employees deserve a "10" start rating. We have experienced a lot of BBQ during it vacations and your business has had the better off all reviews left here on eating establishments. We have eaten here twice - the location is easy to miss and a bit out of the way for us, but it came recommended, and we're glad we made the trip. Atmosphere is very laid back and restaurant is not large. Food is ordered and served cafeteria style. Meats include brisket, chopped brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and two types of sausage. Four BBQ sauces varying in spiciness and flavor are available. Ribs were good but husband's chopped brisket sandwich with the slaw on the sandwich has been the better choice both visits. Mac & cheese is great, macaroni salad and twice smashed potatoes are very good, green beans were a bit peppery, and wasn't a fan of the potato salad nor the pinto beans. (I'm always more interested in the veggie at a BBQ joint.) Service is friendly, pricing reasonable and portions large. Having previously lived in the South for 35 yrs, a good portion of that in Texas, I'm used to having lots of good BBQ choices; here in Utah, not so much. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I absolutely love the concept and ambience of this store. It was incredibly moving to see the pictures of our gold star heroes. I really want to support this type of store. On the positive side, I loved the pecan pie. So good. And the staff was super friendly and nice. But ... the rest of the food was terrible. I got the sliced brisket and shredded chicken combo plate with green beans and pinto beans. The brisket wasn't bad. It was ok. Not a ton of flavor. The chicken was a little dry and totally tasteless. I only ate a few bites. I added barbecue sauce to help, but really didn't care for one of the styles of barbecue sauce. Even the good barbecue sauce wasn't quite enough to make the chicken good. The pinto beans had a weird flavor. I tried several bites thinking maybe I'd start to like it, but I ended up throwing almost the entire cup away. The green beans were straight out of the can and somehow still kind of mushy. The toast was just a piece of not very good white bread, not toasted. At least they could throw in some Grandma Sycamore's :). My husband had the sliced brisket with twice smashed potatoes, which were decent, and coleslaw. But two days later, he's still talking about what a disappointing meal it was. I typically loved smoked meats and I really want to love this place because of what it stands for, but we were pretty disappointed. read more

I'm a Texan. And I was REEEEALLY Rootin for this place! Walked in, and was excited to try this BBQ considering one of the owners is actually from Texas as well and obviously spent some time and money on the decor. This place has a nice BBQy ambiance and the staff was friendly! There aren't a ton of options. Immediately I knew I wanted Brisket. I wasn't thrilled that I had to pay $2 more for sliced brisket, which is the only way it's served in the part of TX where I'm from (Austin). I wasn't expecting much considering we are in Utah and most "TX BBQ" places don't usually live up to the name. I kind of knew the meat wouldn't be up to par. I got the One Meat plate which comes with two sides. I chose the Smashed Potatoes which taste like loaded mashed potatoes so I LOVED these and the Macaroni Salad which was sour tasting and not creamy. There are two types of "Macaroni Salad" in this world and the sour type is definitely not my favorite. But if it's yours, you will probably like it! The Brisket was definitely tender enough but not juicy at all (greasy isn't juicy). So immediately falls just short of my high standards for TX BBQ. So far the items I've mentioned are all good enough to come again. My main disappointment is with the Sauces. I tried the Regular Mild, Regular Spicy and Mild Carolina. Hated all of them. It totally ruined my brisket. The brisket I paid an extra $2 for. Yeah super disappointed. So the regular sauces (that's not the name I forgot what they are called) tasted like tomato sauce and chili powder with a sourish type flavor. And the Carolina sauce was super sour. I really wanted a sweet BBQ sauce. Come on guys!! If their sauces were better or they had more options with a much sweeter, fuller sauce I would give it a high four star rating. But the sauces literally killed it for me and for that reason alone my husband and I won't come back. So here's my scoring breakdown: -1.0 for the Sauces (major disappointment) -0.3 for the Macaroni Salad -0.2 for the non-juicy brisket -0.5 for the up charge on sliced brisket. Like what the actual heck?? Just charge by the weight for the meat and you're all good. Overall if you aren't from TX and don't know any better you will probably like this place. Also there aren't tons of BBQ options close by so... there's that. If they get a better sauce (something resembling Sweet Baby Rays) I will for sure come back!! Also, I would suggest an experimental taste testing with the Macaroni Salad bc I'd be curious to know if people prefer the sour over creamy flavor... maybe make two and ask people to try samples of both for a period of time? read more

Amazing experience! First, the food was freaking scrumptious! Tried the pulled pork, shredded chicken, meatloaf and sausage. All were so moist and delicious. My fave was the chicken which isn't normally my top choice but they do it right here. For sides, we tried the macaroni and cheese, macaroni salad, potato salad, and green beans (they have bacon ). Each were so flavorful. Not a dud in the bunch. Personally, I think the macaroni salad was my favorite. For dessert, we tried the peach cobbler cake and Texas sheet cake. The cobbler was the clear winner for me. Great texture and flavor. While the food was amazing it was all made even better by the phenomenal customer service. The owner helped us carry trays to our table, brought food to us when it was ready, and gave all the kids otter pops. 10/10 would recommend and would be willing to drive out here again to relive the experience. read more
