The omelet has bacon, sausage, tomato, onions and peppers. It was a hearty breakfast and the portion size was just enough to join the clean plate club. One thing to know is bring cash. No cards accepted. They didn't give me a hard time. They pointed me to the "service station" a block up the road to the nearest ATM and they save my coffee and breakfast for when I returned. We were greeted and given menus which we then found a high top table, sat down and looked it over. We decided on the Alyssa crepes and morning glory sandwich. Allysa crepe- I would have ordered another plate if we didn't have another 2 hr drive to go. Between the fluffy eggs and the combination of the ingredients with absolutely mouth watering. I asked for hot sauce and it was complete. I would drive out of my way to come back here again. Morning glory sandwich- I don't know who raised these chickens to give such a different taste to them, but they were raised right. These were definitely happy chickens. Hard to explain but this sandwich and those fluffy eggs will keep you wanting more. Everyone there is so sweet and I'm happy to have had the experience of such an excellent breakfast. The footlong was really good. The dog itself might have been fried and it was great to see pretty full coverage across the full dog. Onion rings were pretty greasy, as evidenced by the dark spot soaking through the paper bag. They were tasty though. I did go back in to ask for an extra couple ketchup packets. If I'm in the area, I'd return to Goody Shop cafe and try some of their other offerings.

The grass looks like it hasn't been mowed for quite a while, and much of the shrubbery is dead or dying. Also, there are weeds everywhere. It's disappointing to see a nice restaurant like this look so unsightly on the outside. Perhaps they should hire a company to pull up the dead shrubs, get rid of the weeds, put in new shrubbery and mulch, then maintain it with pride. That includes the porch as well. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu.
