There's things I don't like about the facility and also things I do. Heather, the general manager, makes herself available, responds quickly and has proven to be open to a conversation about the facility, the staff, my mother in law, or anything needing discussion. Putting your loved one in a facility is never easy. Not only is my loved one safe, but she's also always clean. She loves the food and the staff (most of the time). The care givers are so kind and hardworking. One day I went to visit. One of the staff painted her nails. My loved one was so happy. Literally brought tears to my eyes. Before my loved one moved into Memory Care she was not taking her medication consistently. She was not able to hold a conversation or watch a movie. That all has changed in the couple of months she has been in this facility. On her bad days staff is always there to support her and have great communication with me. Administrative staff take time to offer suggestions to help me and my loved one. This place isn't perfect but the Pro's out way the Con's by far. read more

I had my cousin there for 4 months in Memory Care on the first floor. Most of the staff was helpful, but it was hard to determine if they followed through on promises. I will list my observations by category. Cleanliness: It was clean. Cleaning staff was always present. However, the chemicals they use to clean the facility was so strong it took a day to get that smell out of my nostrils and weeks to get it out of my cousin's belongings. Facility needs some painting touch up, but they were working on that. Photos on website: The photos are misleading. I never saw tablecloths, dishes or tables set up nicely in the Memory Care unit. They were served on brown hospital style trays. Pictures framed on walls are not there. And because they are shown in glass, they should not be there, as most of the residents hug the walls as they walk. The rooms do not look nice like that. Care staff: They are understaffed. I once went in and the med tech was asleep sitting with the residents in a small back room. She never heard me come in, nor responded when I attempted to speak to her. Most of the caretakers were friendly and my cousin seemed to like them. He did seem clean and he never had an unclean smell. So he was getting assistance with bathing. Memory care activities: I saw very little. The location is not set up well for group activities other than in the dining room. The dining room is not well lit with natural lighting. Primarily the residents could wander down the hallway, in a small backroom and a small patio with limited seating. Grassy area is large where they can walk, but it looked more like they were trying to escape. Common for those with dementia. I didn't see much effort to keep them engaged. Personal Property: Because rooms were unlocked and residents were allowed to wander, and there was limited staff, many of my cousins' personal belongings went missing. I found his lamp in someone else's room. His socks went missing, and I had to buy him more, even though they were marked with his name, I never got them back. His wooden hairbrush, comb and mirror were gone. His fabric box with his snacks, gone. The box was supposed to be locked up in his closet and snacks supervised to help him gain weight. Some of his newer gym pants and his Roku stick, gone. I was supposed to get reimbursed by Becky in finance for at least his Roku stick, but it has been 7 months and they seem to have difficulty issuing me a check. They didn't have an issue cashing my checks, but apparently writing a check is a problem. Laundry: Staff would just dump the clothes in the bottom of the closet and not hang them, even though I provided hangers. For someone with dementia this causes even more confusion, since they can't comprehend the pile of stuff. Every week when I went to visit, I'd have his closet unlocked so I could place his items in an orderly fashion. The reception staff was always pleasant. I did have an opportunity to go to the Memory Care unit upstairs. It is extremely sad. They are just sitting in a room or walking up and down the hallways. No way to get any fresh air or walk outside. Fortunately, I had my cousin on a waiting list for another facility. It is extremely difficult to find an affordable Memory Care facility that meets high standards and care that you would want to see for your loved one. Affordable is the key word. If he had not had medi-cal he would have been homeless, so at least that is a blessing. As far as Lotus Villa, all I can say at this point is that he was clean, fed and safe and that's the most I could hope for. Could more be done, of course. I would recommend that they place a large gazebo in the grassy area with adequate seating for all the residents from the first floor to gather. Hire a full-time activities director and assistant so someone is there everyday. Reach out to the local area nursing schools to arrange for volunteers to come in to get experience with working with those who have dementia and Alzheimer's. Update the dining area in the Memory Care first floor to be more inviting. By having the residents all in one room, rather than wandering, when staffing is low, all the residents can still be looked after. Get adequate air conditioning for the small room on the first floor at the back. It gets extremely hot back there and the residents knock out due to the heat. While Lotus Villa is not the best, I can't say it's the worst. read more

Some of the residents have not been taken out of bed in a long time. The dinning room doesn't even get used. The memory care patients just walk up and down a hallway. Sit in a tiny living room. Not even a TV. Truly sad and I don't and the big turn around of staff. Caregivers won't stay. The owners do bring u a donut hole each on Sundays after there church. Left overs of course. The food is not very good for the residents. They shower 2xs a week unless they soiled themselves. I wouldn't put my family here. No real activities for them or yard time outside. read more

My mom has been at Lotus Villa Memory Care unit for about seven months. I have nothing but high regard and praise for the caregivers there. Becky, an administrator, saw that my mom was not doing well, called me that night and helped me put her on hospice care, which has helped her so much. The staff has been supportive and treat my mom with care since she is so frail. I'm there a few times a week and am able to observe the caregivers and cleaning staff. I know some staff by name and they always greet me with a smile and keep me updated on my mom's condition. They treat all the residents with care, even though they are sometimes verbally abused by the residents, yet they keep smiling and treat them kindly, which I'm sure is difficult at times. Her clothes are cleaned and put away on a weekly basis as well as her room which is cleaned frequently. I'm glad I chose Lotus Villa for my mom's long term care. read more

My mom has lived here a little over a year. I know she is now safe. They exercise in the morning, play different games, and have socials to keep their minds stimulated. I go there a few times a week to check in on her. I bring my grandchildren of all ages to visit. Everyone is kind and caring. My mom still likes to look pretty so caregivers help her put makeup on, do her hair. Anytime I have a question about my mom's meds, I can go to the Med room. They keep the door locked so none of the residents can go in. I knock, and I am allowed to go in at any time to ask questions. Also, the office is always welcoming if I have any questions. I am very involved in my mom's care and love Lotus Villa. It has truly been a blessing knowing my mom is safe. I couldn't keep her safe. Dementia is a horrible disease. Please don't bring your family here. The day I finally quit was because the receptionist called me up to the front office asking me why I kept going up stairs which caught me off guard because well the med room is upstairs where we have to check our daily showers, if a patient wants a food change we have to go up there and I also took up some blankets from a patient that were all covered in urine. I had complained multiple times about how one of the caregivers and the maintenance man were having an inappropriate sexual relationship and nothing was done about it. The main med tech desire was always running late in her meds which to where my patient always had to track her down and ask for their medications a few days I found spit out pills on the floor from her just handing over medication and not watching our dementia patient actually take them. There was always a low supply of diapers to which the maintenance man actually kept a couple of diapers from one of the patients and "didn't know where they went " she never received her packages of diapers. They are so understaffed that they are constantly asking for caregivers to work doubles and even triple shift. On pay day your check is always under paid even when you constantly remind Eli of the hours you were missing. Becky who is also the director she is very rude towards the employees and unprofessional. Please do not send your family here. I asked the office many times to change the shower curtains to multiple of my patients rooms and they never did I only lasted 2 months here. read more

I am just wanting people out there looking for work as a caregiver DO NOT APPLY at Lotus Villa in Fontana this facility is not ran by the owners or the Administrator that is there it is ran by the RN that is there let's just say she is not people savvy the only good thing I can say about her she knows her Medications she also has an agenda when new people apply and that come in to work she makes them feel good and is very nice at first until you are there awhile then she makes you feel very uncomfortable and starts harassing you by telling your coworkers things about you that are not true and then your coworkers side with her and it becomes the whole facility against you for what this RN has said I know it happened to me It got to the point that I felt so uncomfortable working there that I was forced to quit because of her and I was told later that she was glad that I left because if I didn't she was going to make it worse for me and get me out of there and this was said to me by another employee that worked there and to this day she has made it to where 6 other people have quit because of her and you would think that the management or the Administrator would know what is going on and what kind of people they have working there but they dont they dont have a clue or care to know .And the people that are suffering is the residents that live there because there is not enough workers I did go the the Administrator when I was there but nothing was done she advised me that we could all sit and talk about it and I refused because it would have made it worst for me SO AGAIN CAREGIVERS DON'T APPLY THERE read more
