Staff initiated life-saving measures without verifying her status, despite her DNR being on file in her binder and the office being only five doors away. They did not check her records or ask the office to confirm before acting. I filed a formal complaint with the Department of Social Services, and it was found to be substantiated of both a Type A and Type B violation. This is public record and available on the DSS website. Additionally, neither my brother nor I were notified when my mother passed away. I learned of her death two hours later when a Sheriff answered her phone when I called, which was devastating. Allara Senior Living was an absolute godsend when I needed respite care for my elderly mother! I instantly felt at home when I walked in the front door. Jennifer, the director of sales, showed me the entire facility and answered all of my many questions. I was able to meet the staff in Memory Care from the med nurse to the caregivers. They had many activities to enhance my mother's stay. Mom mostly loved the music and I was told she even came out of her shell and sang the songs from yesteryear. So Grateful for Allara Senior Living Community My Aunt moved into Allara Senior Living about four months ago, and we couldn't be happier. We viewed lots of facilities and Allara is by far, the best Senior Living in the area. From day one, the staff has been incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. Matt Ryan and Brenda have helped make this transition so smooth and have gone out of their way to help her feel comfortable and at home. My Aunt lived in her past home for 55 years, so this transition was not going to be easy. We sold her home, and she had to downsize into a smaller place, not an easy move when your Aunt is used to living in a big home. It took a few months to settle in, but once she did, it all worked out! Moving to Allara was the best decision. Room and laundry are cleaned once a week, she has three meals a day, plus activities she can engage in with others living at Allara and most importantly, her doctors come see her and make sure she's getting medical attention when needed. It's amazing to see how happy and engaged she is -- she's made new friends, enjoys the activities, and always talks about how much she enjoys her new friends she's made. The facility itself is clean, cheerful, and full of warmth, but it's really the people who make it special. You can tell they truly care about every resident. Everytime I visit the staff is so friendly, I'm filled with gratitude seeing my Aunt smile, and I'm so happy that she lives close so that I can see her every week. Don't be fouled by Allara's beauty, or you may find yourself fouled by the staff. During our search for a memory care facility, I encountered shady sales practices that I feel compelled to share with other families. After the initial visit there was several back-and-forth text, negotiating price we were quoted a certain price to that fit our price range to entice us into leaving a deposit. We made a special trip to Allara and submitted our deposit, expecting to lock in the offer. The following morning, we received a text message inform us of a price change and with rude comments like " I'm not sure if you understood correctly-the care staff needs to get paid and we need to get on the right page". The difference in price from the original quote was $2000 more. This sudden change left us questioning whether it was a deliberate bait and switch tactic or simply a careless mistake on the part of the staff. Regardless, Allara has lost all trust and credibility. Although we were initially excited about the prospect of Allara being a suitable home for my father, we now see this disappointment as a blessing in disguise. It has given us the opportunity to reevaluate our options and choose a facility that is not only competent but also trustworthy. We toured this facility with Gina the Sales Director. We had a very nice experience while touring the facility. Gina even took us back to rooms for repeat looks. Allara is certainly beautiful as far as construction, layout, and "apartment style" rooms. It is very clean, and modern looking. I cannot speak to the quality of care , as we have not selected an Assisted Living facility yet; however the communication from Allara has been positive and consistent. read more

Pros: - Nice facility - Nice staff Cons: - Shadiness and lying - No nurse at the facility on weekends. (This was revealed in response to a question during our tour.) My family was considering moving our dad here. In fact, we had agreed on a price and the terms. We'd confirmed these in writing via email because we were considering multiple places and needed to share and compare the details among all of us who were making the decision. We paid the deposit. But just hours later, Allara contacted us to casually tell us that, oh, by the way, the price didn't include something they'd told us during our conversations and in the confirmation email that it did, and that we'd have to pay a couple thousand dollars extra for it. They also said that they'd called Sunlit Gardens--the memory-care facility across the street that Allara knew we were also considering--and that any pricing Sunlit Gardens told us didn't include this "extra" element either. What Allara didn't know was that we'd also gotten Sunlit Gardens' pricing and terms in writing, and their offer hadn't changed. (We confirmed with them again after Allara's claim about calling them.) So, it was wild to have a facility that we were considering trusting with our father and his care so openly, easily, and repeatedly lie to us as soon as they had our money. No way could we trust them. We canceled our dad's move, got our deposit back, and got away from Allara ASAP. read more

Looked all over in our area for Respite Care for my 83yr old mother who has dementia and Allara Senior Living provided us with EXACTLY what we were looking for. Facility is clean but most importantly is the entire staff. Because of mom's dementia she stayed in their Memory Care Floor & the staff takes great care of her during her stay (it was our 3rd time for mom staying there). From the beginning of the process with the required paperwork & signatures to mom's move-in date & her move-out date the staff is supportive to both you and your loved one & makes sure you're comfortable & have everything you need. The Executive Director Patricia along with the Director of Sales and Marketing Gina, have personally taken us step-by-step with mom's last two stays & made sure all prerequisites were met AND even setup a doctor visit utilizing Zoom making it easier for mom & my work schedule (i travel out of town weekly). UPDATE: What I though was happening at this facility, and truth were diametrically different. I'm moving my father asap. Look past the newness, look past the "I'm here for you 24/7, you've got my number..." all smoke and no mirror. My father has NOT received living assistance -- I have not received calls, texts, responses, emails...NO communication from anyone. Caregivers are threatened with their jobs if they communicate with family. Specific issues we have experienced: --Significant weight loss - my father lost 22lbs in 4 mos, --Lack of staff attentiveness - how do staff not notice food left on counters, tables, consistent refusal of care?, --Lack of resident hygiene care - how does he get charged for grooming and I trim nails over 3/8 in long, his beard never shaved, teeth not brushed, broken and more???, --Lack of maintenance of a healthy living environment -- the stench in the apartment is palpable and unavoidable -- how does someone NOT report this and everything else to me???, How do I walk in and find filthy bed linens rolled up next to his head on the bed? --Poor communication with myself by staff/management -- I have NOT received ONE text, call, email, snail mail -- NOTHING regarding any of the above (not even after identifying all of the egregious reasons I'm removing him, and --Leadership attitude and behavior toward my friend who's acting as engager/companion for my father as his wife has abandoned him after 17 years. Every possible roadblock and extraordinary effort toward making her feel uncomfortable. (and I haven't even begun to relay her reports). Obviously his wife was trying to let him die -- part of this is her fault. However, I have never balked at upping his care (in fact I'm the only initiator-- refer to NO communication on Allara's part) Leadership attitude gets relayed to care staff. Ask these questions and get answers in writing: How many "refusals" before resolution is attempted (communication? to family?) Offerring 3 nutrition meals a day is fine, who is making sure there is consumption? How many pounds lost before alarms go off and communication occurs? How does housekeeping NOT clean well enough to remove stench? How long does someone lay in wet/soiled linens before they are changed when that resident is being 'checked' on at least 5x a day and if you pay more 12? How long before someone sounds the alarm that a bedsore is beginning? Yes, I have photos, contact me directly if desired. Yes I have notified corporate. My 30 day notice to vacate was sent 7/15 to both the Exec Director and her corp boss -- it's 7/19, "crickets" -- no response to any of my questions, concerns, etc. I cannot be happier to move him. read more

I had my mother at allara senior living for around 15 months , the caregivers were great monique, jackie ,mary ... etc i feel like everything is base on $$$ I understand everything cost money but if your paying top dollar , i would expect top dollar care . i fill that there understaff and possibly underpaid , there was times i would go visit my mom and there was no supervision residents were falling with no help around ...... i also feel that they need more activities to keep residents busy allara seems to be more focused on assistant Living rather than memory care residents they truly get the short end of the stick ....... there were also times i would go visit and my moms room smelled like pee and was dirty you would think they would clean residents room more than once a week ... just like they only get showered once a week ... before we left they had a covid out break and were still allowing visitors ... things happen for a reason im glad i moved my mom out ..... My experience with Allara has been pleasant. I won't say that there weren't any issues to be worked out but they definitely got handled and I appreciate the effort made by the staff to ensure my loved ones well being. I love the nurse, Ruth, she communicates with you on a level you can understand and she is so professional. There are also two medtechs that are incredible I believe their names are Aleatha and Sonia. These ladies know their job and are extremely helpful, kind, and go out of their way. I see them in the building more than anyone and they treat every resident with such tenderness. I don't remember all of the caregivers names but many of them are very kind and sweet as well. Unfortunately I can't sing all the same praises for the Executive Director LeeAnn. She comes off very unapproachable and dismissive. She could learn a few things from her staff. read more

This place is absolutely awful. They're not in the business to help the elderly, nor will they care about your loved one. While someone i know was a resident there multiple problems occurred. While trying to visit someone they will try denying you, telling you you must have a covid shot or your unable to visit anyone. Which that is not true, if they do tell that tell them you'll report them. unfortunately that is what i had to do to visit a friend. they make is so hard for friends and family. Residents do not have phone in there room and if you call the office they say they do not transfer calls. There's no way for residents to contact anyone outside. This place has been nothing but hell to deal with. Currently im filing many more complaints as well as a few on LeAnn the head person running it.
