Shameful practice. Dr Prunski has completely lost grip of Illinois PAIN and spine institute…read more I get it. You guys want to be all procedure and surgery based because that's where the MONEY IS. There's no money in feeding people $3.99 bottles of pills (I checked. That's what they pay for them. The price you see on the sticker is a lie) $20 for a month of medicine. Or having someone come in four times a year for $4000 injections. I am not injection compatible. My pain is in deep nerves that require a specialized team. A team that UIC will be assembling. A team that UIC has ready. The registration desk people were the nicest people as were the nurses. The physicians here? They have no bedside manners and they don't care that they don't care about you. If you aren't "their kind" of patient read: someone ready to drop boats of money on dubiously effective procedures. Dr Prunski, wake up. Start Managing PAIN. Or at the least stop making a joke of your office and change the name. Illinois SPINE institute. You guys don't want to deal with chronic regional pain syndrome or fibro or anything complex. You just want simple run of the mill facet block patients. You. STEEEEEENK

I used to love Dr. Wilkin when I first met him to treat and manage my fibromyalgia and related…read moreconditions. He listened as long as I needed him to, as I went through my lists of questions and new symptoms. After several visits, however, I came to realize that his patience with talkative patients was partly to blame for his consistent tardiness (over an hour) for my appointments. I thought making first-of-the-day appointments would solve that problem. I was disappointed to arrive on time, only to greet a locked door with no one inside to let me in! I had to stand in rain for several minutes, waiting, only to see a dry Dr. Wilkin open the door for me, eventually. In my several years with Dr. Wilkin, I can say that he will be nice to his patients, listens to them, and empathizes with their pain, as he suffers as well. This is what I liked about him. What I didn't like about him was that he was non-responsive with regard to any requests via fax or phone, regarding prescriptions, FMLA forms, and the worst was when he ignored me through terrible side effects. I had dealt with two episodes causing me a lot of unnecessary grief. One was when I endured severe withdrawals over a week's time without any call back from his office. The withdrawal effects would have been avoided if he'd given me the proper instructions for switching meds. (I learned all of this from people online, and after the fact.) The other was when severe side effects from a combination of two medications he instructed me to use caused a near-crisis. He also failed to call me back after I'd left him multiple messages about what was happening to me. The last communication I had was when a staff member called me (not the doctor himself) to tell me that the doctor "tried to call me" a few days earlier. They have my mobile phone number and nobody called me that day. I told the staff member that this was the last time I'd have to go through hell like this and fire Dr. Wilkin. I could not trust him to look out for my health. What good is a doctor that isn't looking out for my health? I don't know what his deal is about not calling people back or helping them when they need him, but I'd had enough and cannot recommend him at all. The crisis I had was about 9 months ago and I just found out that my body has not recovered from the incident. I cannot vouch for the other doctors in this office, but my experience with Dr. Wilkin was lengthy, and I'd given him more than enough opportunities to redeem himself. He seems to have given up on me, so I've given up on him.

I was a bit concerned when I read the one other review about him. I'm glad I went forward. Mom had her last appointment with him today. He was very caring...she has dementia and he allowed for that in all of his visits with her. Very patient. Because she couldn't stand at her first follow-up appointment, he wrote a script so she could get an x-ray at the rehab facility. He was cautious with his recommendations re weight-bearing, his follow-up appointments were right on time (nice, considering we had to use a Medi-Van. His staff was courteous and professional. He gets 5 Stars from me. She was released today after her second appointment....60 days after surgery. No pain since about 3 weeks after surgery. He'd be my guy if I ever broke my hip. Excellent doctor, in my opinion.
