It took me a couple of years but I finally made it to the rooftop of the Grand Hyatt. It's every bit as attractive and well-appointed as you might imagine by the address. Despite the hotel setting, it feels a bit more 'for the locals' than lower Broad does these days. So whether you are entertaining out of town guests or want to have drinks Downtown, this just might be the spot you're looking for. I had something to celebrate and I wanted to do so in style. It was mid-spring and the weather was perfect so I wanted to take advantage of the short window. I took a ride share to the hotel bc ain't no one got time for Downtown parking rates and bee-lined it to the Lou/Na elevator at the back of the lobby. Once I hit the rooftop, my Friday night began. The atmosphere is every bit as dark, moody (in a good way) and smartly-illuminated as expected. Since I was here for views and good weather, I asked the hostess for an outdoor table. She obliged and I was soon perched along the edge of the roof, staring into the twinkling lights of our ever-expanding skyline. It was well-past the dinner hour and I was craving something sweet. After chatting with my helpful server, I decided on the creme brulee and an espresso martini. Both were excellent. The brulee had a perfect crust and delectable custard that paired well with the martini that veered closer to dry than sweet. I appreciated that. It showed effort went into making the cocktail. I was in my own head so I minded my business and didn't do too much people watching. Despite the time of year and good weather, the roof wasn't too packed. It wasn't empty but it wasn't bustling. That was fine by me but I'm sure the management would disagree. I would point out that Lou/Na has gotten even more popular since when I visited so I'm confident that the crowd on good weather nights has increased. If that's your thing, head over on a Friday. If not, check it out during the week. But if well-made cocktails in a beautiful environment outside the madness of Lower Broad but still Downtown is on your radar, you know where you need to go and what to do. Such a beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant! We stopped here before a nearby concert and were completely blown away. The views are stunning and it is a nice break from the hoopla of Broadway, while still having the Nashville feel. We ordered a couple drinks and found a place to sit. There were lots of groups around us but it didn't feel crowded. They also put the fireplaces on and that was super cozy. I'm giving 3 stars only for the environment, drinks and food. The service was horrendous. This rooftop bar is located on the 25th floor of the Grand Hyatt. Only two elevators go to this floor and we waited for over 10 minutes for one to show up to take us up here. When we got up to the top around 10PM on a Friday evening, there was live music and a packed house. The bar itself was strewn with empty cups and plates that hadn't been cleaned. It looked filthy. A server told us we could seat ourselves so we chose a table outside to enjoy the brisk night and city lights. It was a packed Friday night and this bar was severely understaffed. I only spotted one bartender, two servers and one person bussing tables. We waited over 15 minutes for a server to notice us. And that was just to get a menu. The two servers were not communicating with each other which led to confusion and double work on their part. One server took our order, then another server came over 5 minutes later asking to take our order. One server brought water but no one ever brought us plates, napkins or silverware. Our food arrived and we were picking at it with no utensils or napkins. I had to physically walk up to their computer station and get their attention to give us silverware and napkins. They didn't bring straws for our drinks and one server had to be tracked down to give us these as well. Multiple empty tables were sitting with dirty cups and plates for over 20 minutes. I observed multiple people having to physically go up to the bar to get attention for service. People were getting annoyed. I was able to flag down a server to close out. I specified I wanted to split the check with my friend. 5 minutes later she returned, and had processed only my credit card and didn't follow my instructions for payment. The servers were trying their best but ultimately failed. The service was terrible because more staff was needed on a busy Friday night. I have no idea if it is always like this or if they fumbled staffing on this night only. This bar could be really great, as the food and drinks are actually high quality. However, much more attention to hospitality and service is needed. read more

Lou|Na is an excellent rooftop bar for when you're not in the mood for a bunch of Nashville tourist. On the rooftop of the Grand Hyatt, this bar hands down has one of the best views of Broadway as well as Downtown Nashville Outside of the amazing views, their drinks are top tier & perfectly crafted every-time! You can tell that every bartender takes pride in crafting you some of the best cocktails that you will have in downtown Nashville. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars, it's because of the food. All the plates are very small, so do not come hungry. They are also pretty pricey for the amount of food that you receive. This place had great ambiance. It's at the top of the Grand Hyatt and has glass all around overlooking the entire city with mountains in the background. There was a conference/business meeting at the time we went but they were kept in one area mostly. Kyle greeted us as we sat at the bar and started us off with a beautiful and tasty whiskey sour. We decided to try the spicy tuna, mahi tacos, and wagyu. The spicy tuna is the best I have had. You may be able to tell because I forgot to take the picture until we were halfway through the plate. It was so pretty and had every flavor I wanted it to have (it is spicy so if you are heat sensitive watch yourself and maybe ask if they can reduce the spice) Kyle warned us in advance but we told him to bring the spice. Delicious!! The mahi wasn't my favorite but I'm not a huge fish taco person, that was my husband's choice and he thought they were pretty good. The Wagyu was good, I loved the different flavors that came together but I did think the chimichuri might not be necessary on a piece of Wagyu but it was tasty and so very tender. All in all I plan on going back before we leave town! I really wanted to sit outside but the wind was crazy and we only stopped to grab some pictures. read more

The garden party is a nice refreshing cocktail. The biggest issues were problems with our bill we didn't have time to fix. My husband didn't see a cocktail he liked so he asked for a mezcal Margarita. Drinks on the menu were $16 (plus Nashville tax on liquor old 9 + 15 extra for liquor). They charged us $26 plus tax and tip. That's a lot for a drink! We never would have ordered that and would have chosen something else. Our server was attentive and super sweet. read more

This place has been on my list for a minute. Went last night for a date night with my husband and was not disappointed. Made a reservation weeks in advance, everyone was super nice as soon as we stepped foot in the hotel. They do validate your parking which makes it complimentary which was super nice. From the time you walk into Lou Ana you can see the beautiful views of the city. I wish I had a captured a picture of the beautiful sunset. I had the pink (Lounacy) cocktail , the herbed potatoes and pork belly. The food and the drink was amazing. Our waiter was very accommodating and very nice. Simply put: Rooftop done right! This elegant, well-appointed space sits majestically on top of the new Hyatt Grand in Downtown Nashville, just at the gateway to the famous Lower Broadway. You may valet at the hotel (two hours free). You enter through the Gatsby inspired lobby, (Take a moment to appreciate the lighting!) and head to the elevator banks, where two dedicated elevators will get you to the top floor. The outdoor seating is inviting: couches, chairs, and tables all presented in lovely gray and black hues, with a hint of green. The small plates menu is special.... not to be considered bar food! Scallops, shrimp, oysters, cauliflower, yeast rolls (called monkey bread on the menu) crab cakes. Excellent. The cocktail menu is carefully curated, as is the wine, beer and spirits menu. Went to Lou/na on Valentine's day for their special event which (for $150/person) included $100 in food credits (each), live music, a champagne elevator ride, and a special menu. Overall, it was an ok experience. I think we would have enjoyed it SO much more if just a few things had changed. This hotel as a whole just hasn't fully fleshed out how to run and I think they (perhaps) could work out the kinks over time. Overall it was just a meh experience with a high price tag. Food: The food was delicious! We both had the special Valentine's Day menu. The oysters, scallops, crab cakes, and dessert were superb. I thought they had a great menu pulled together and did a great job selecting the wine pairings. Drinks: The drinks were good. I had the wine pairings, my husband had an old fashioned, and we shared one of their cool light-up drinks (see photo). All of them were strong but with good flavor. The wine was well-paired with the food. And my husband thought his old-fashioned was on par with some of the better ones he's had. The specialty drink was a bit sweet. Service: The service was OK. Our waitress was so sweet and wanted to be helpful but she had WAY too many tables. We did a lot of waiting to order drinks or ask for additional stuff. We noticed many others around us were in the same boat. Lots of waiting. Event: The biggest problem with this restaurant was the planning/prep for the event. We decided to select the earliest reservation so we could enjoy a nice evening in our room. When we showed up, about 2 minutes after our reservation time, we were taken up in the elevator and seated quickly. The unfortunate part was that not everything was setup. It took at least 30 minutes for the musician to begin playing and everyone was still scrambling around to prepare. It seems like they were all fumbling around to finish prep. and the musician was just wandering during this time. I know this review sounds a bit pretentious but it's not intended to be. My husband and I are the most chill people and love being left to relax and enjoy ourselves.
