This bar should be called KOA, because l've had better service at Kampgrounds of America. First off the hostess told us that since we didn't have a reservation we had to order at the bar even though we sat at a table. Bartender said that since we were at a table we had to order from our waitress after insulting my wife and her friends outfits! Waitress showed up twice in the span of two hours and was beyond rude. Ordered the chips, they were inedible, honestly wouldn't feed them to my elderly dog. We tried to close out for an hour and finally tried to go hand out waitress cash since she was chatting with friends instead of getting our checks. She refused the cash even though it was plenty for our bill. If I could leave negative stars I would. Worst experience I've ever had. read more

This place has so much promise. We arrived for Mother's Day brunch to a place with an awesome upbeat vibe. We were so excited to eat here. Until we sat for 15 minutes waiting on a server to acknowledge us. It all went down hill from there. The menu looks interesting. And so we ordered our drinks and an appetizer. At this point. We have sat 30 minutes before the drinks were brought out. Still no appetizer. Appetizer finally came. It was actually the highlight of the meal. The street corn dip in case you're adventurous enough to give this place a shot after reading this review. Mains came and were alright. Not $200 lunch alright though. There were so many missteps from one entree taking 15 minutes longer to come out than the other 3. To our silverware being taken away after the appetizer and not being able to eat when our entrees came. Overall this place feels understaffed. mismanaged and without drastic changes it feels like this will be another Nashville restaurant casualty. There are simply too many GREAT restaurants in nashville for us to tolerate experiences like this. read more

COA sits atop the Canopy Hotel in The Gulch and was recently recommended to us for a chill afternoon rooftop cocktail...and the recommendation was spot on for what we were after! COA is a Latin inspired space with a vibey dining room and bar area with cozy seating and a few communal tables. While the interior peers out over a bit of Nashville, the outdoor areas have the best views of the city! The outdoor area has a variety of seating from lounge areas to formal seating plus a few spaces that are dedicated to standing and enjoying the views. While the food menu looked great, we were after cocktails. We had a collection of beer, wine and cocktails. Beer and wine were great, and the wine glass was a nice touch and different. The cocktails were tasty and strong, and again served in cool glassware. Prices were standard hotel prices. Nothing crazy, and the cocktails seemed worth it. Service was friendly and welcoming. From the moment we got off the elevator to being sat, at the bar and then departure...everyone was helpful and friendly. Overall, COA was a cool spot for an afternoon rooftop cocktail. I have heard the night views are even better and the food is great, so I look forward to returning! read more

I went to COA to check out their new Soft Serve Margs and these were delicious! You can actually do a swirl of strawberry + pina colada which was such a good mix! You also get a candy pineapple, strawberry and tajin straw. This was SO refreshing, it's not too strong either so if you don't like alcohol you'll still like this. Came here for opening night to celebrate my friend's birthday. The valet was super nice and informed me that the first 2 hrs are free and it's $25 for 4 hours after that. As soon as walked through the hotel doors I was greeted again and was told how yo get to the rooftop. COA is located on the 11th floor. My friend abd I met for dinner around 6 and stayed for like 4.5 hrs. We started with the guacamole and ceviche. She ordered a mocktail and I got a Gimmlet with vodka (soo good, I usually get it with gin). We then ordered and bahi fish, pork belly, and carne asada tacos. Our favorite was the carne asada. We couldn't make up our mines on the desserts so we got them both, churros and their spin on strawberry shortcake. They were both soo good but our favorite was the churro dessert. As the night progressed, it got busier and busier. After we ate, we took a spin around to check out all it had to over. The patio and views are amazing and it waaay longer than you works expect. We attended the COA New Year's Eve bash. You could buy a table, but once we bought our tickets the tables were sold out. We were, however, able to buy the premium package which included open bar with premium liquor, complimentary food and an early entry of 8 pm. The general admission package also included complimentary food and a well liquor open bar package. To me the early entry was worth paying for because we were able to get three barstool seats, with a slight back in the inside area of the rooftop bar. I definitely didn't want to stand all night. Their outside seating areas were really nice with incredible views and heaters, but it was so cold that night our party wanted to stay inside. Even with the heaters going it was cold. They had enough bar tenders, so the lines for drinks was not bad. The food was buffet style, and they kept it stocked all night. I enjoyed the create your own tacos and the shrimp salad. Towards the end of the night they brought out mini churros and caramel sauce. Those were amazing. There was enough people there for a great party, but I was glad that It wasn't too crowded. It was nice that they limited the number of tickets they sold. They had a photographer, and the pictures were free which was great!! We got three strips since there was three of us, and they sent a digital version to my email. Close to midnight we went outside to see the fireworks that were shot off near Bicentennial park. You couldn't see a full view, but you could see enough between the skyscrapers. They also offered tequila shots at midnight. read more

The place has a set menu cocktails and drinks. Had the rooted in fire drink. Mezcal is the smoked taste tequila. The food menu shareable but the tacos are street tacos size. Ok so this restaurant is very beautiful. But to say it's a Tulum vibe and I've been to Tulum several times. They definitely missed the mark on that. It gives me more of a Miami vibe bc I go to Miami alot this is how most of the restaurants in go to look like. The vibe here is upscale and very spacious. Loved that they had the fire girl dancer for entertainment. Love the views of the rooftop. But the drinks was definitely nothing special nor the food. I got the Tequila prawns and it was ok. If I go back it would definitely be just for the vibe and I would go maybe for drinks but keep it simple. Our service was ok. We were looking for a great rooftop to celebrate a birthday, so this rating is for the rooftop experience (not the cuisine). This was our first time at COA but know our way around the Gulch neighborhood. Situated in the ultra trendy Gulch, COA markets itself as fine Mexican cuisine. The decor is contemporary chic, the rooftop view was nice, good for pictures but not one of best vantage points of downtown. I would recommend the high top tables because the regular table seating are more lounge style a bit uncomfortable for dining. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. As a self stated connoisseur of mexican food, who has dined at authentic fine dining of this cuisine, I would have to say that the meal did not meet our expectations, with absence of traditional hot sauces and an under whelming staples like the ceviche and esquites (corn dish). Portions were moderate and price points were about what should expect in the Gulch. Again we were seeking a rooftop experience and our evening was indeed enjoyed and we had a good birthday experience. read more

Vibey af Coa is v pretty! I came with my neighbor for a little sunset food and bevy moment. It's very pretty in here, I felt like I was in an Instagram background, but in a good way. We got seated at one of the bar table facing the windows, which turned out to be phenomenal. We got to watch the sun set over Nashville while we dined, it was quite soothing. I'm on a very weird diet right now because one of my friends asked me to come out of retirement for modeling and do a shoot for his brand in a few days, so I'm currently not eating fried food, gluten, carbs in general, and attempting to limit dairy. This is not the place to come if you're trying to eat basically air and chicken. That being said, they were extremely accommodating for me and my weird eating habits right now. And my neighbor didn't hate me. Win win. We got the salsas, the melon burrata, and a bunch of tacos. I asked if my taco could be lettuce wrapped, unfortunately it wasn't able to happen. They just gave me a taco in a bunch of little bowls to assemble as I pleased which I found quite funny. The salsas are good, the passion fruit one was my favorite. It's sweet on the back end, divine. The melon burrata salad was yummy and I did cheat and have some burrata. I'm not perfect. My taco bowls were delicious! The pork belly one was my favorite. I'm not drinking due to said coming out of retirement weird diet that I can't wait for to be over, but my neighbor did and he said his drink was good. Mixed thoughts on this bar overall. Walked in and was immediately met with attitude from the hostess who was standing in front of the podium. My friend encountered a similar rudeness over a lack of reservation. This irritated demeanor seemed to contradict the upscale vibe and experience the bar seems to be hoping to produce. The bar itself was an improvement and the food looked appealing, though I did not get anything. The bar service was good and the servers were very welcoming, though the cocktails a little pricy. Nice view and lighting outside but not a ton of seating out there, so I would recommend going early to sit at the outside bar. read more

I genuinely don't understand the negative reviews. This place is incredible. Everything is made in house and you can just tell that it's made with so much love. Our server was wonderful and so kind to us. We were a few minutes late to our reservation due to traffic and they were super kind and accommodating. We got the shrimp flautas, guac, and mini burritos for food, we got mimosas for drinks, and the SOFT SERVE MARG for dessert. When I tell you I will never be able to take in a margarita another way, it was DELICIOUS. Don't miss this place, it's amazing. The vibes were top notch and I love the ambiance of this place too. The service was exceptional. The staff were friendly and attentive. The bar had all top shelf liquors. There was only a limited beer and wine selection. We showed up with a reservation for a celebration and were seated right on time, which, in hindsight, was the highlight of the evening. Then... nothing. For 30 minutes, not a single "hello," no water, no acknowledgment, just a steady stream of staff wandering around like it was a team-building exercise in avoiding eye contact. It almost became impressive! The tables around us were in the same boat. At one point, a neighboring table gave up entirely and went to pour their own water, which honestly felt like the most proactive service move in the room. I get that you're new, but this isn't a 12-course tasting menu with complex timing. A quick greeting, a glass of water, maybe even some chips and salsa, these are the restaurant equivalent of showing up to work. We eventually left and found a nearby spot that, amazingly, had mastered the advanced technique of saying "hi" within the first half hour. Tough night to roll the dice like this, especially for a Saturday celebration with no backup plan. Really wanted to like this place, but right now it feels less like a restaurant and more like a waiting room with better lighting. read more

Absolutely awful service. We went to the outdoor bar to enjoy the weather and the bartender was the most rude unprofessional server I have ever interacted with. After being skipped over multiple times the bartender finally came to us and since this is a brand new bar and we have never been, we asked if there was a cocktail menu. She responded with more attitude and side eye than a middle school child. We had to pry the flavor options out of her and the entire time she acted like she couldn't have cared less to be serving or attempting to make money. The view and the bar vibe was beautiful, but it was unfortunately overshadowed by the ugly service. read more

Overall this experience was weird... we went to sit at a side bar adjacent to the bar because we were told we could sit here and be served. Waited 15 minutes to ask the same bartender again (who was on his phone) if we could sit here and be served drinks. He said let me ask and then was like it's actually closed. When we moved to the main bar, 2 waitresses came up to trying to give us other people's food and we rejected it because we didn't order it. The bartender then stated 3 separate times "we don't know what we are doing here..." I mean the drinks were good but yikes! Pros: the pork belly al pastor tacos were delicious and my margarita was solid. The service was very good and while the music wasn't my cup of tea, it was at a reasonable level that we could have a conversation over. Cons: the carne asada and Baja fish tacos weren't anything special, nor were the churros, and at the prices this place charges the food needs to be a cut above the ordinary for those prices to be justified. Portion sizes are small as well. Overall it was a good experience and I will probably return at some point, but the value isn't great for what you're paying. A happy hour and/or late night menu with discounts on drinks and appetizers would go a long way to improving that, but at the moment I cannot give this place a higher score. It's not by any means a bad restaurant though - just overpriced for what you're getting. read more
