Allen is incredibly detail-oriented, and I leave happy with my haircut every single time. The first time I went to Allen was actually to fix my hair from my previous hair person. I was almost in tears because my hair was orange literally the week after I got it done and dropped so much money. my hair felt so dry and looked like I havent gotten my hair done in a year. I tried to tell myself it doesn't look that bad but the more I looked at it, the more upset I got. So I was looking for someone on yelp to help me fix this and came across Moc Hair Studio. The reviews were great and although I was nervous I couldn't stand to look at my hair anymore the way it was so I took the leap of faith and gave it a try. Allen was so informative and let me know what exactly my previous hair person did to make it look like that. He explained what he will do to fix it and throughout the entire process I could tell how meticulous he was. I felt like I was in good hands and after he was done, my hair looked like what I wanted it to look like in the first place!! I was so impressed with his work that I decided the next time I needed my hair done I'm coming back. Fast forward to yesterday.. I wanted a change with my hair so I decided to go back to Allen and see what magic he could work. I wanted to try something a bit different from what I usually go for and I knew Allen could do it but from previous trauma of going to the same person multiple times and never getting exactly what I wanted, I was still scared. Again he calmed my nerves by taking his time and making sure everything looked perfect. I've never been to anyone before where I felt like I was his only customer ever by the way he was taking second third and even fourth looks to make sure the color is right, the hair is even on both sides, and the hair is healthy and not damaged!! I originally found her because I was searching for someone local who could do extensions so I wouldn't have to keep driving all the way to LA. After my consultation, I got extensions done with her, and I immediately noticed how incredible her eye for color matching is. That's honestly her magic. She knows how to create a full makeover with extensions while keeping your own hair healthy and minimizing unnecessary bleaching or damage, everything always blends so naturally. What started as just extensions turned into her becoming my go to for color and cuts too. She ended up giving me curtain bangs that can also be a little wispy also, and cut my hair to a length that looked soooo good. There was so much attention to detail when she was cutting too. It was great. For the color, she said that a lighter color might not actually look the best on me and a subtle brown might be better! I was pretty down for whatever she thought looked good so I trusted the process again. Let me tell you... this subtle brown looked so good with the cut. Also, my hair? Soft as HECK. After reading the positive reviews and looking at the photos of their work, I decided to give this salon a try. The salon itself is very small, and there really isn't a waiting area for family members. Since my daughter doesn't drive, I had to wait in my car and drive around the area while she was inside. It would be nice if they had a small space for parents or companions to wait. Unfortunately, the haircut was the biggest disappointment. I showed a reference photo, but the final result looked nothing like it. If the stylist wasn't comfortable doing that particular cut, I would have appreciated the honesty upfront. I would have gladly gone somewhere else rather than have a haircut that didn't turn out as requested. The front was noticeably uneven, the hair flared out in an odd way, and the bangs were poorly cut. I ended up having to fix the bangs myself at home. I paid $90 for the haircut, plus a $10 tip, for a total of $100. For that price, I expected much better. My advice would be that if a stylist isn't confident they can achieve a requested haircut, it's better to be honest from the beginning. Customers will appreciate that honesty much more than leaving with a haircut they're unhappy with.
