I am new to the area and need to bring my pup in for her cytopoint injection and nail trimming. I called and spoke with a receptionist who was so professional, experienced and thorough! She explained that the doctors need to examine Molly because she was new to the hospital. I totally understood that and wouldn't have it any other way. She also spoke with me about the dr's and manager at Loudoun Veterinarian Services and their hours and days working. Molly is a quite nervous pup usually and explained that. I was told they are experienced in dealing with behavioral annimals and everyone at the hospital is trained to insure she's comfortable and at ease. I am so glad to have found Loudoun Veterinarian Service in Purceville! Just speaking with the receptionist, I would recommend them to everyone I know. They will be my new veterinarian! We started going to Loudoun Vet, 8 years ago. They have been wonderful with our fur baby's. We also had to take our wonderful lab there to send him over the Rainbow Bridge. They were very compassionate and let us stay as long as we wanted with our boy. We had been through a lot with Espen. You can google Espen, Wonder Dog and that is our boy. If I could review individual veterinarians at this practice, Dr. Stang, would be highly recommended. He's extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and overall a wonderful vet. Unfortunately we had a disturbing and disappointing interaction with Dr. Turner, as detailed in the below review. For some pet owners, a visit to the veterinarian can be a scary and unpleasant experience. Dr. Turner's lack of compassion and insensitivity during our experience at Loudoun Veterinary Servces on 7/18/24 compounded an already stressful situation for our family. We had been taking our 18 year-old cat to Animal Medical Centers of Loudoun (AMCL)- (Brambleton) for several years. Their transparency and willingness to work on feasible care plans for our cat, despite a very complicated medical course, built our trust with them. Because of this, we chose to bring our dogs to AMCL for regular veterinary care. We continued to bring our pets to AMCL after we moved to Western Loudoun in 2018, despite the fact that they were 40 minutes away from our new home. In 2023, we welcomed a new puppy to our home. Despite our unease, we decided to try the nearby Loudoun Veterinary Services for our new puppy's care. Our unease quickly went away after a few visits with Dr. Stang, who has been great. Our cat's complicated medical course began ten years ago when she became extremely ill with severe GI distress, unable to tolerate any oral intake. Her symptoms progressed, and were unresponsive to all interventions with the exception of oral steroids. During the upcoming ten years, she continue to receive oral steroids daily, unable to wean without a severe GI distress flare, causing us and the medical team at AMCL to believe the cause of her GI distress had an autoimmune component. As a result of her symptoms, relapses and required management, the decision was made by the AMCL team and my husband and I, to hold her rabies vaccine as it would likely trigger an autoimmune response that could possibly lead to Diva's inability to recover and ultimately her death. This decision was made knowing that she was strictly an indoor cat, and was only exposed to our family dog who was fully vaccinated. On the evening of Monday, 7/15/24, we noticed an alarming amount of fluid coming out of our cat's eyes. She was noticeably uncomfortable, however, her drainage seemed to slow down over the next 24-36 hours. On 7/17/24, we again observed multiple instances of our cat's eyes draining fluid. We quickly attempted to book an appointment with AMCL but they weren't able to accommodate an appointment within the upcoming 1-2 days on such short notice. In desperation, we decided to attempt to book an appointment with Loudoun Veterinary Services, as they were able to accommodate us the following morning, seeing Dr. Turner. During our appointment we provided our technician with our cat's medical history and explained her care plan we developed with AMCL. When Dr. Turner joined us, it was immediately obvious she was frustrated that our cat did not up to date on her rabies vaccine. Throughout the remainder of the appointment, Dr. Turner stated that Diva would not be welcomed back without her rabies vaccine and ultimately left the exam room without explaining Diva's diagnosis to us. Only when we asked why Diva was getting medication did Dr. Turner provide a one word diagnosis - "conjunctivitis". Dr. Turner's lack of compassion and hyper focus on a vaccination status that clouded the true physical examination of our pet that day has left an enduring mark on my family. No less than 24 hours later, our cat suffered a seizure, caused by a suspected brain tumor. We made the difficult decision to put her to sleep the following day. The emergency vet who cared for her during and after the seizure observed her eyes were clear with no signs or symptoms of conjunctivitis noted; subsequently coming to the conclusion the excessive tearing from both of her eyes was likely caused by the growing brain tumor. For the sake of other families that might turn to you for veterinary care, I hope this bit of feedback offers an opportunity to grow and to show kindness and sensitivity in the future. read more

My Corgi suffered a spinal injury. The vet put him on anti inflammatory and pain meds. The pain meds ran out and I called them on Tuesday for a refill. Didn't hear anything. Called back on Thursday. Still nothing. I went into the office on Saturday and finally got a refill. At that point my dog could barely walk. This is unacceptable. My dog is suffering because they don't have time to refill a prescription. They're also very expensive. We've used them for the last seven years. I won't be going back. The level of service has changed radically for the worse. The corporation that bought them seems to only be interested in maximizing profit at the expense of people's pets. read more

NO BASIC COMMON SENSE! I have tried to go to this vet twice. The first time was with a service dog that I was training. This vet had signed an agreement with the foundation who owned the dog. They insisted on getting approval for a procedure from the foundation, even though I was listed as the owner. Of course the foundation was not available. No problem, I offered to pay the bill knowing that I would be reimbursed. They refused to let me pay the bill and prevented me from going back to work. I tried this vet again. I asked for an appointment for an x-ray with sedation. I was called the day of the appointment and told my dog was overdue for a vaccination. Again, no problem. I told them that I would be happy to get the vaccination, as long as it was safe to do so with the sedation. I was then told that I could not feed my dog before the sedation, which I was not told when I made the appointment. I was also told by the vet tech that there is a state law that says they cannot not treat a pet without a vaccination, which is complete MISINFORMATION. Is there a law to have vaccinated pets, yes. Does it prevent veterinarians from treating a dog who is suffering and in pain, no. I'd advise this company and staff to get themselves straight. They are rude and seem to not be able to think something through...not someone I want to care for my pet. read more

I am not impressed by the customer service I received at Loudon Veterinary Service. Multiple receptionists and staff were rude post surgery for my dogs TPLO surgery. I asked if I could have help with getting my dog adjusted after an intense surgery in the car to go home because he would not lay down by himself and a staff members reply to me was "just tell him to lay down" and continued to watch me struggle. I also had a bad experience with Rachel who very unprofessionally argued with me about my pets X-rays. She did not explain the situation calmly and instead raised her voice and tried to make me feel like it was my fault for not knowing my pet had X-rays the day of surgery. I was unaware and was not sent the X-rays, I thought I had already paid for the post op X-rays. I will not be returning and I am very unsatisfied. If you choose to go with Dr. Stang for TPLO I highly recommend him but see if you can go elsewhere for post op besides Loudon Veterinary Service. His team was very responsive and professional unlike Loudon Veterinary Service. read more

We have used them for over twenty years with great service. The original vets were great our with dogs. Our problem is below: The management has changed and scheduling an appointment is a nightmare. My wife made an appointment for Saturday a week in advance to have my dog's nails trimmed as she had a split nail and was in pain and needed to be sedated. The office called us on a Friday to cancel our scheduled appointment for Saturday. They said our dog needed a yearly wellness check up before they could take care of the nail trim and sedation is not done on Saturdays. We asked to please look at my dogs split nail they refused to have us come in and said we don't do wellness check ups on Saturday with no regard to our dog's split nail. They re-schedule the appointment for the following Monday at 4.30. We called Pet Smart to see if they could look at her split nail and trim on Saturday evening but needed the rabies certificate faxed to them from Loudoun Veterinarian. We called Loudoun Vet to see if they could fax that information out to Pet Smart, so they could help out our dog, they said they would fax that over. We called ahead to Pet Smart and they never received any information from our vet. We called back to Loudoun Veterinarian and they were closed. For the Monday appointment: We called in advance to confirm the appointment as my wife was running a few minutes late. We got to the office and they did not have my dog on the Monday schedule. The office staff said we don't have you on our schedule. The folks that work on Saturdays are not here today and you are not on the schedule. The doctor came out to where I was sitting with my dog, very unfriendly with an angry look and told me I needed to come in during the day, again no regards to my poor dogs split nail. Although the new vets are competent they made us feel that they only want to generate a bigger bill. read more

I was considering taking my dog here because their vet does specialty procedures that not a lot of vets offer. When I called for information I spoke with a very rude Nancy on the phone who had no interest in speaking to me or giving me price estimates. She demanded I bring my dog in for a visit before they would even discuss anything else. I wanted to get more information on the vet and his history on these procedures before bringing my boy in and she wouldn't hear it. I got recommended to this place through a facebook group because my pug needed to get the stenotic nares surgery. We went in for a physical before the surgery and I am so pleased with the service. They told me things about my pug that no other vet had told me before. My pug had his surgery today and everything went great. On top of the great service, the prices here are incredible. I will only take my pug here from now on. I will say that some hours they're very busy and you may have to wait longer than usual but the service and prices overcome that! The staff are Animal lovers. I say this as this isn't always the case as I've found at other clinics. That being said the staff are knowledgeable prompt and do not charge for unnecessary tests. In fact I have found the charges to be quite light. This coming from a cupon clipper. I had issues with my dog possibly swallowing somthing. I scheduled an appointment last minute was seen in an emergency fashion reception was awsome polite put me on a short hold to consult a vet. I got there was seen right away. I spent 20+ min with the Dr and tech. All said my bill was 22$ this with perscriptions. Who does that? Certainly not turn and burns like Banfield. I know not all cases are the same but wow. This practice is truly a gem. My wife's parents exposed me to them and my family will continue to use them for as long as the staff remain knowledgeable and their level of care remains A++. This place is way over priced for their services, you will find there are other better places in Purcellville that charge half of what these folks do. They also seem to have a revolving door of doctors, you never know who you will see or worse who will return a phone call. Getting someone to call you back is worse then pulling teeth. I did not have a good experience with them and I went there for two years. They seemed to be ok when I first started going but have really gone down hill in a bad way. I haven't had an on-time appointment since the initial after moving to town almost a year ago. And it's not a 5 - 10 minute delay. It's on the scale of a 30 - 60 minute delay. It's taken me awhile to write this review because we were so disappointed with the treatment we received from Loudoun Vet. I took our chocolate lab mix to see Dr. Stang because I heard he was great with lameness and worked with quite a few labs. He was very nice and we discussed the lameness and some options for treatment. About six months later our dog lost energy and wasn't eating well (very unusual for this dog) so I took him back. After Xrays Dr. Stang recommended an ultrasound and their ultrasound doctor was coming in that night so I scheduled an appointment. Dr. Stang said he would not be there, which was fine. We were devastated to find out that our eight year old dog had advanced liver cancer. The ultrasound vet said it was very bad and that we might need to make a decision about putting him down that weekend (this was a Thursday night). I asked the receptionist if Dr. Stang could meet with us, or even speak over the phone, so we could have help with the decision and were told he was on vacation and "unreachable until Tuesday." I understand that vets need vacation time but since it was such a short time frame we doubted he was out of the country and have always had vets that would make time for emergencies. To have to reach out to an emergency vet who didn't even know our dog in order to make the most difficult decision we could make made a heartbreaking situation even worse. Our dog was a true family member and we found the treatment given the situation to be very cold. read more

Such a good clinic and very reasonable. Both my parents and my husbands parents took our animals to Loudoun Vet. When his family dog had to be put down, someone from Loudoun went to their house free of charge and took care of him. The amount of compassion they show is one of a kind. My husband and I live in Ashburn and take our English bulldog to Loudoun Vet. Dr. Stang is great, very to the point and has been right on each diagnosis even before looking at an x-ray (at least in our case) and the rest of the staff is just as great. We've been to multiple other clinics (Blue Ridge included) and there is no comparison with the staff or value. Well worth the distance and by far the best clinic in Loudoun. read more

Wow...I am so disappointed in how I was treated today, Saturday, June 10, 2017. Hopefully no one has to see the vet on Saturday at 3:00 for their sick, constipated miserable dog. I called at aprox. 2:00 describing my dogs condition, after the receptionist spoke with doctor on call, I was told to give him pumpkin which I had already been doing, and if he was no better by morning take him to the emergency vet. I was very displeased with the reply from the vet, so I called back and asked the name of the vet and she finally came to the phone and told me that it was Saturday and he may need an x-ray, my reply was can't you give him one? she told me not at 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon! So, I said OK, get his records ready and I will pick them up the first of the week and she slammed, I mean slammed the phone down on me. This is too bad because Dr. Stang is a wonderful doctor and been around forever to have someone like this be a part of his practice. read more
