Based on reviews, I chose Town Animal as a local vet for my senior dog. Their online appt system is great. They also have all their forms online. They are Located in a very crowded strip mall. It's one of the negatives that I see with this place. Staff is super friendly. I even got a $25 new customer discount. I chose any vet of their 5+ vets. Putting the patient first: I chose to take Parker to Towne Animal Clinic and I am over the moon about my choice! Andrew Redford, DVM is magical as is the staff from front desk to techs. Scheduling was easy and they even called when they had a cancellation for an earlier time. And when I arrived they had already requested and received my pups paperwork from our old vet! Zero hassle for me. Kindness: My 120# Golden, Parker, usually has high anxiety and it was so minimal due to the time and patience Redford had with him. He played and spoke with him and not once pushed him. Parker was there for itchy feet and we found it was a allergies and a very small bacterial infection. Redford rubbed his belly, then looked at the 3 paws that weren't sore first, then was very gentle with the sore paw. (Parker's anxiety came from our last hospital who made his poor nails bleed every time they trimmed them. Also they were all business, no patience. This was huge - no nervousness bc the doc was meeting Parker's needs at his pace and need) Win: No bad experience this time! Parker sat, trimming was done in 3 minutes, no bleeding, and zero anxiety and got a treat! Efficiency: Before we left the clinic room we had affordable meds in a bag- no waiting at all! We we were in and out in less than 40 minutes as a new patient! Experience : We laughed with the doctors and care takers. Parker was smiling the whole time. Minimal bribery for the pup needed too which was a win. The doctor was very thorough with prevention care for next year for allergy season and we put it on the calendar, didn't sell us products just to make a buck, recommended a simple daily medication for the next couple of weeks, and everything was 1/2 the cost of what I paid at the last doctor. My 1 year old gsd and I just got back from our first visit and I could not wait to post my review. Everyone from the first call I made, to when we were greeted at the front desk to the doctor and all the technicians we met while there were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. This is our 3rd clinic in a year and I am so glad we switched over. My girl is very vocal and protective of me. She's also a little insecure and scared of the vet. Then add to that she can be jumpy and "reactive" when she sees other dogs. None of this makes for an easy visit to the vet. That being said, she's an amazing girl, very gentle with her 5 year old human and is well trained and good tempered at home. She's also great with people in general. Towne Animal Clinic and the half dozen staff that we met today were all so patient, understanding, professional and communicated so well that it made our visit quick and easy. She got praise, cuddles and treats instead of judgement. The best part is Dr Radford communicated a plan and course of action for when we have our visits so that Cleo could enter without feeling on edge with other dogs present. That was priceless for us. Horrible place, horrible staff. Pet parent/owner beware! Don't ever go to this facility. This place DISGUSTS ME! Very useless! I blame them 100% for the passing of my sweet dog, Lucky! As i expressed my concerns with the manager, through email, which took her a few weeks to respond to me. i am copying & pasting our emails here, as pictures will be too small to read. As my last email, i stated the passing of my dog, She did not even reply to me or even say "sorry for your loss" This place should be embarrassed. PLEASE READ LAST PICTURE (click on it to read it fully) PICS OF MY DOG BLEEDING WILL BE UPLOAD SHORTLY. My first email- Angela- I am quiet disappointed with an appointment Lucky had at your facility on Monday. I had taken Lucky for an examination. I specifically requested twice to two different receptionists that the estimate be emailed to the Loudoun County Animal Shelter- Angela Chan. When I contacted Mrs. Chan to confirm that she received the estimate, she did not. Lucky was seen at 1pm. Why wasn't this done? This is unacceptable. Another disappointment- When the doctor examined Lucky, I requested for the doctor to put a bandage or some-sort to cover her mass as it is bleeding severely. Why wasn't this done? I cant not believe your doctor ignored this. In fact, the doctor put back the bloody cloth she had on her when she came in. WOW! Is this a normal protocol for you guys? You see that Lucky is hurt, bleeding, and in pain- why would you treat her like that? Lucky's condition is very serious and I expect her to be treated with care and concern as any other animal under the care of your doctors. This is pretty sad that I had to go to the store and purchase medical gauze pads and Self-Adherent Wrap to cover her bleeding. Not a great first impression, sadly- i didn't get any apology from your front desk staff. I am truly disgusted with you staff. Please contact me directly by email/phone call. Weeks later, her email to me: Dear Krystel, First I'd like to apologize that addressing your concerns is so late in coming. I'm not sure why it took 13 days for me to receive your email, but it looks as though the address is spelled wrong, so that might have something to do with it. It appears as though Angela Chan not only received word that Lucky would be seen at 1pm on February 25th, but she emailed us back an approval voucher on February 22nd. We have a copy in your chart if you'd like to see it. The voucher is for "Physical exam ($17.00) to obtain an estimate for any treatment recommendations." Immediately after your appointment on the 25th, Dr. Barrett emailed Angela Chan with an estimate for treatment, which we also have a copy of in your chart and I'd be happy to share with you if there is any confusion.The voucher does not include approval for a bandage, and per our contract with LCAS, we do have to adhere strictly to their approvals. I spoke with Dr. Barrett again about Lucky, and he recalls recommending against any kind of bandaging, as he was concerned the mass might compress Lucky's airway. He stated that the small t-shirt you had on her might be the best way of keeping the mass from bleeding on her surroundings. Unfortunately, we don't stock shirts for our patients, so we didn't have one to replace it with. Again, I apologize for any miscommunication - our doctors and staff always act in the best interest of our patients, even when financial constraints are an issue. Any additional treatments, medications, etc., that we recommended after the doctor's exam would have been your financial responsibility, since it wasn't included on the voucher. The other option would have been to submit a request to Angela Chan, and wait for a voucher with approval for additional treatments and medications. Lucky's health is our primary concern. LCAS CARE is a wonderful program designed to help families and pets in need, but it has to operate under very specific rules. I do apologize for any perceived lack of compassion on our part, Dr. Barrett and the rest of the staff are very concerned about Lucky. We hope to see you again soon, so we can follow up and get her feeling better. I'm disappointed in the service I received. I've heard only good things, but then I brought my puppy in last week because he had had diarrhea for a couple of days. I called my primary vet, Banfield, in Petsmart, but they had no appointments. I had a standing appointment with them, but it wasn't until this week, and I felt it was too long to wait for him to be seen. The office/tech staff were lovely, and the Dr. was also nice. The Dr. gave me a stool kit to collect my puppy's stool at home and then mail it in. I sent the kit the next day, Wednesday. Today is Tuesday of the following week. The day of my Banfield appointment. I called Towne Animal Clinic to find out the results because they had not called me. They had not called me to check on Max, nor had they called with the results. So I called them only to find out that they did not have the results. Today, at Banfield, they were able to tell me exactly why my puppy, Max, has been having diarrhea for a long time. He has giardia and another parasite. All this time, I should have had Max on antibiotics. He has been suffering all this time. If Towne Animal Clinic could test on-site, I wouldn't have wasted the trip or the money on my visit. Today, Banfield provided me with all the medication (antibiotics) Max needs to recover. I am so happy we found Towne Animal Clinic and Dr. Rice. We have been looking for a vet, with knowledge that matches experience. We took our dog here, for a 2nd opinion on a cyst, and ended up switching for the surgery, as well as routine care. When we saw the write-up after his initial exam, "ears great for breed", we knew they would be a great fit all around. At the initial clinic, they wanted to pad the bill with an ear culture. We have Basset Hounds, who ALWAYS have some yeast, though we clean them regularly. I knew when I saw Dr. Rice's comment, that he was also familiar with the breed, and not trying to unnecessarily charge us. In addition, he felt like the cyst was not cancerous, but only the biopsy could confirm. Gave me the option to hold the sample if I did not chose to biopsy right away (expensive). I ended up doing it, just to be certain, and Dr. Rice was correct (not cancer). They have also been very accommodating with appointments, fitting us in to look at the cyst much faster than the prior vet. It seems they like to care for their pet clients, vs. sending them to the urgent clinic for something they are able to treat. The staff is also very friendly. Towne reminds me of the veterinarians I remember from my childhood, who truly care for animals. read more

I really like how they just installed a scale in the lobby so we can easily get their weights. And they have a new member on their team, Dr Radford that we just met this week.
