Took my girlfriends car in for a much needed oil change...Charged $136 for one oil change !!! Absolutely insane, was originally quoted at $150 for the oil change but when I questioned why I was told an accidental extra oil filter charge was on which would've been never noticed unless I questioned the insane price of $150 oil change, told my regular shop I go to on Packard road and they told me I was scammed, and would've been charged $65-80 for the oil change. Absolutely DO NOT get service here. They will rip you off, lie to your face, and quote you obscene prices because in their words "we do great work". My wife stopped in to get some information and they treated her with complete misogyny assuming she didn't know anything about vehicles, and trust me she knows more than the average person. Among a list of things, they tried to sell her on getting her spark plugs in a Prius changed for $700 quoting several hours of work and insane plug prices. I said screw that and did it myself in 1 hour for $50 in quality spark plugs. I did the work by the book and it runs perfectly. With a whole shop at their disposal I can't imagine it taking them several hours to do the job. I went back to the store and told the owner of the store that his price was insane and his response was a fully expected condescending "well yeah you can do it yourself if you want bad work to be done". I did this work job a few years ago and the car runs perfectly well. The owner is super friendly all the way up until the point you disagree with him. UPDATE REVIEW 1/3/2023 Went here because it was a local company. Had brakes and rotors done. After work done, kept hearing a sound. It ended up being the bearings, which should have been caught changing the brakes AND if you would have test drove it AFTERWARDS In less than a year bearings are bad, which means they weren't done correctly Took it back to Subaru that told me the ONE bearing this company replaced was done incorrectly and I had to pay AGAIN to get it done CORRECTLY. Then they checked my oil as I was getting a check engine light and found my oil was BLACK SLUDGE. I have not even driven 4000 miles in a year where my oil should have been BLACK. This tells me they either didn't change the oil or they are using re-used oil. I have had to pay over $2000 to repair the damage caused by them. I wouldn't use this company again if they were the company in Ann Arbor. Scammers!! BELIEVE the NEGATIVE reviews. BEWARE!!! The owner on google reviews replied and said they changed ONE of my wheel bearings. They charged me $1005.73 for ONE wheel bearing. You NEVER change 1 rear wheel bearing without changing the other. I believe I have been going to Complete Auto Service (John & Louie's) for close to 20 years. Prior - at this same location were mechanics operating but the businesses were different as day and night. The first owners were concerned they were doing everything to give a customer his/her money's worth; all the guys were extremely nice. If you were to compare them to other mechanics in the area you would say they didn't charge as much; loved to fix vehicles, it's just that your vehicle not all the time was fixed and operating as it should be. Then one day as I needed a repair, immediately noticed there was a change. In contrast, after nearly 20 years of repairs here is how I would compare Complete Auto with other mechanics in the area. First, they pride themselves for "quick vehicle repairs." And they are quick. Yes, they are slightly higher than other shops but there are shops that charge just as much. However, you could bet your life - and that's a big bet - your vehicle would indeed be repaired and operating as it should. Even better than you thought. Further, if after you've paid and left the shop there were still a few kinks to work out there is NEVER any qualms when you return. In addition, it is still a quick repair or a reasonable explanation. Also, being female, I appreciate when they warn me of potential problems that may be coming down the pike. As I leave my vehicle for repair I am confident I will not be disappointed when I return. So one has to make a choice between the two types of shops. Personally, my time is valuable and I prefer a dependable shop where I know what I am getting: quality service at a price I'm willing to pay. I would recommend 100%. read more

This repair shop is a massive ripoff!! MY UMich son brought his 1998 Jeep Cherokee in with a broken window regulator (Google it, its about an $80 part) today. After a $189 diagnostic fee, which wasn't disclosed when I called, they came back with an estimate of nearly $800. WHAT?!! Highway robbery. According to Lori and John (I spoke with both of them), the part is $380 (nope) and their labor costs were for 1.62 hours. When I inquired about providing the part myself, Lori stated that they would have to charge me the normal rate of $230 per hour plus 20%.....WHY??! That's even above dealer pricing!!! I told them to put my son's door panel back together and instructed my son to pay them the unreasonable diagnosis fee and leave. Upon getting his vehicle returned, he noticed that not only did the door panel not get reinstalled correctly (see pics below), but they also did not install all of the bolts and screws holding the door panel on and they broke one of the panel tabs. The pricing is outrageous. They charge labor for services are not needed or are simply fabrications of the truth. This place over charged my daughter to get the brake pads changed. 690 buck! That's simply over charging a young woman who doesn't know better. Taking advantage of someone is not acceptable and a poor business model. I talked with the mechanic and he gave me an explanation of how he went above and beyond which was the furthest thing from the truth. He did what is done in any break pad change and over charged 114.00 for looking at the back break drums and cleaning them. That means they looked at them and blew them out with compressed air. The experience we had with Complete Auto Care can only be classified as "Divine Intervention." We were at Weber Inn in Ann Arbor. When my husband tried to brake his pedal went all the way to the floor. It was Sunday and we needed to find help in an area where everything was unfamiliar to us. I looked up and... right there.... was Complete Auto Care, and lo and behold, one of the stall doors was up. We pulled in and there was the owner, John, and his wife, Joy. They were closed, but he brought her car in to give it an oil change. He had us pull our van on the hoist and when he raised it up, the last of the brake fluid dripped onto the floor. The fuel line had broken due to rust. It is a 15 yr. old Chevy Express. John gave us a free loaner van. His mechanics fixed our van the next day and we drove back to Ann Arbor to pick it up. Did I mention that when we went inside there was a sign that said, God Loves You! I can only praise Complete Auto Care... and I thank God for getting us to their business safely. They have free towing and free loaner vehicles. If you live in Ann Arbor this is the place you should go for car repairs. They are honest and friendly... the real deal. Plus, They are sending me a free $25 gas card for going to their website and posting my review. Super great people and awesome, fast service. read more

He is honest and straightforward with the minor repairs we have needed. He has NEVER taken advantage of our lack of car knowledge. Today was our most recent trip to Complete Auto Service to get a radiator flush since our car sits all winter. What was initially the possibility of being a $300 radiator flush turned out to be FREE since they replaced the radiator in 2015 and we've only put 1600 miles on the car since. It was a godsend since we have had so many unexpected repairs needed to our house in the last 2 months. First the good. The restroom is very clean. The woman at the front desk was friendly. My alternator was replaced. That is where anything good stopped. I was driving out to Jackson. My vehicle started acting up so I pulled off on Jackson Rd and meet a very dishonest owner of a repair shop, John. My alternator stopped working. Kept me waiting 2 hours to tell me my alternator was bad; I knew this already. Charged $181 for a diagnostic of said problem. Then said the repair total would be $1100.00. But that $1100 gets me a 3 year & 36,000 mile warranty. Said I wouldn't pay that much as I'm trading in the vehicle in a month and that repair cost is 2/3 the value of the vehicle. John & his mechanic insured me that this was a good deal; that $800 for an alternator is a good deal. Top of the line part. I mentioned I found the correct part for my vehicle , at O'Reilly Auto Parts, from $123 to $240. John then stated that I'm paying for speed..."I'm fast....dealers send me their cars because I'm so quick". My friend, a master mechanic at Ford returned my call and set John straight. The repair at a Ford Dealership garage, with OEM Master Craft parts, labor & diagnostic, would be $450. Far cry from the $1100 quoted. Yes, I broke down 66 miles from home and my honest mechanic. Yes I was stranded. John tried to take advantage of this. We haggled, he back peddled on the price, we agreed on $520. We all know that Dealerships have been the most expensive repairs. They have a lot of overhead and costs, more than than a small repair shop. If the Dealer makes a profit at $450, a small shop really makes a profit at $520, let alone $1100. Beware. Call around. Get quotes. If this owner, John, senses you need work right away and are far from home, he'll try to gouge your pocketbook. John, you offered me a $25 gas card for a positive review....I can't accept your offer. You ripped me off and took advantage of my situation. This is an honest review. I dont know how these people are still in business,,,they destroyed the engine in my low mile toyota sienna after doing a shoddy timing belt replacement and struts...they charged me 3k for this. Then blamed it on the quality of oem toyota parts...my van pulled hard to the right, and shook badly the moment i drove it off the property...i was told that i had a tire out of round...which i bought new rims and tires, still the same problems...the car squaked badly,,,i was told that all new belts take time to seat in...they are very pleasant when you first walk in, they even put jesus name on their marque, but they are devil in disguise...they lie, and steal from people...when i had my van towed ba k to their garage after stallibg out in traffic, they said it needed a new engine, and would cost me $5300.00,,, when i told them i couldnt afford it, they told me that they could dispose of the vehicle for me...when i refused to let them have it, they offered me 500 for it...they dont even care if you have cancer, they will still rip you off...i can prove everything im saying is true.... read more

I have been here twice and I really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt since the staff seemed so friendly. But their prices are ridiculous. If you don't believe anything I say, just do a price check online or with another shop on any of the services they offer to provide you. It is worth your time to do so. The first time I came here was for an exhaust problem which they fixed. They also charged me $50 for an air filter change and $110 for cabin air filter changed. I brushed off the high prices, because I signed up for a 18 months of unlimited free oil changes, and thought that was a good deal overall. Second time I came here for a check engine light. I Was charged $200 for diagnostic fee, found out the problem was Oxygen sensor. They quoted me $500 for the sensor, and $300 for labor. So a total of about $1000. I went to another shop, they redid the diagnosis, replaced the sensor, and the final cost for everything was $350. I also showed other shops the price quotes and their mechanics literally just laughed. The reviews are artificially high on google plus because they provide a monetary incentive for leaving a review. I will never go here again despite owning 18 months of free oil changes (I drive 5000 miles a month so I could really have used that deal), and will tell everyone I know to stay away from this shop. read more

My husband I have taken our vehicles to Louie and John's whenever we have issues. Tuesday, I dropped my SUV off due to the "transmission hot, idle engine" light kept coming on. They had my car by 8 AM and out by 4:30 PM completely repaired and with a nice "thank you" treat as well. Robin was awesome as were the mechanics who kept in touch with us all day informing us of what they were doing and what finally needed to happen. I always feel like the mechanics are trustworthy and open. From this point forward, no one touches my car except Louie and John! This is a scam business. Beware! I brought my car there a few days ago as it was not running smoothly. The owner John came to me after 10 minutes looking into the car and told me they need a deeper inspection to figure out the problem and that it would cost between 165-180. I trusted the guy. He came 30 minutes later and told me that one ignition coil needs replacement. (I was told later by a different shop that this problem is very easy to figure out.) He also warned me that I should change the timing belt since it is loose and dry-rotted. His estimate for changing the coil was $600 and for the timing belt $900. I had to pay $180 for a diagnostic that lasted less than an hour just to be able to show my car to the auto-dealer for a second opinion and they told me the timing belt is fine and these belts rarely dry-rot. I found a shop that changed the coil and the spark plugs for $220, almost one-third of the price that John the owner was asking for. Don't be fooled by their nice manners. These people are very dishonest and the owner is a real crook. read more
