I was just overlooking my 2013 write-up thinking.. those "question mark head" reviews you weren't willing to give credence, now offer some groundwork to some of your own experiences with this dentist.
Dr Freeman has since moved from his small downtown Skokie office into the professional building next door to Old Orchard shopping center. His practice is part of a larger dental group now known as 'Dental Store North Shore.' So there is additional support staff handling administration tasks as well as dental hygienists handling the casual dental cases. ie cleanings. I forget the name of his hygienists, but they are stellar! My folks and our relations that were once Dr Freeman patients also give them high praises. If the hygienists were to branch out on their own, I think they would have a wealth of clients waiting to sign up.
Let me back up a bit here. Years ago I was given a recommendation to check out this northwest side local dentist. Some of my family had also opted to using his services. In the beginning it was decent. But over the years, dental visits felt more like "car garage shop" appointments. In the sense that, you walked in looking for servicing for one issue, were quoted a cost but when looking at the bill there was some fishy business going on.
Speaking of fishy business. My folks went through this unfortunate experience with recent root canal work. The costs were not properly relayed to them or explained. I had to get involved because my folks were expected to cover high costs out-of-pocket and yet no one person in their administrative offices offered comprehensive information whether insurance was to cover any services/ related costs. (Most people are aware that root canals are very expensive in the US. Most dental insurance companies will not cover this expense unless you have been with that insurance co for some years. Depending on your plan, you may have to buy additional coverage to afford the expense. Or invest in a "dental plan." By the way, if you need a root canal, Google any of those terms.)
About their root canals; I was seeing receipts with dollar amounts over $500 one after the other. Meanwhile they are wondering why insurance is not covering anything. Seniors that had trusted in Dr Freeman's services when he was in an office solo, should be afforded the same treatment now that he's in a big, new, high-rise, right?
Some months after, we ran into family that had at one time given us referrals. Our experiences were similar and they too felt the same. Charges for dental work had grown too costly and why wasn't their dental plans covering any of the associated work? Now everyone is seeing alternate dentists. Strange detail is, between my folks and our family, everyone has different insurance programs. Some having the most expensive and others with standard programs that most dental offices accept.
