They were very thorough. Walter and Victoria greeted me and were very friendly, and they took great care of me with my x-rays, exams and things. Victoria did my cleaning and provided helpful tips for things she noticed. Dr. Ema came in and chatted with me too and checked things out. She was very kind and welcoming. i cannot recommend this place more. as a student that recently moved away from home, it has been awhile since i have had a cleaning and i feared getting a new dentist. Dr. Ema is so informative and easy going. I had cavities for the first time ever too and she made me feel very comfortable about the process and what a filling would look like. My Hygienist was also an angel. She constantly made sure I was comfortable and OK (I have bad dentist anxiety) and she even gave me a topical numbing for my gums to make my cleaning more comfortable. I think that most of the negative reviews for this business are from before new ownership took over- I had an extremely professional experience here for my consultation. When I walked in, I was greeted very courteously at the door. Since I'd forgotten to fill out my paperwork beforehand, I was presented with a laptop to fill out all the necessary information electronically. My previous dentist had not sent the X-Rays that I'd requested, so the receptionist took it upon herself to call them and request them for me again. The X-Ray images were emailed during my appointment and the doctor was able to look at them immediately. Dr. Kaori Ema did precisely what I'd expect a *good* doctor to do- she didn't try to persuade me into care out of her expertise just for the sake of making money. She examined me (more thoroughly than any of my previous dentists have), gave me a few options regarding the issue I came in for, and told me the I might not be a good fit for what her practice specializes in. Then she gave me three separate referrals. Overall, the staff was great, the service was great, and so was the doctor. What more do you want? read more

So, I wrote MY review which detailed MY experience about Printer's Row Dental. I received an email from this place some time after I wrote MY review. I did not respond because, quite frankly, there was no need to. I voiced MY opinion (which, by the way, freedom of speech allows me to do), and I was done. Since I today received another correspondence from Dr. Page I feel compelled to reply. I found Dr. Page's initial email regarding MY review to be insincere. Had he been genuinely concerned about my experience, there would have been a message waiting for me when I arrived home THAT SAME DAY. There was no such message because - in MY opinion - Dr. Page was unconcerned about offending me. Dr. Page did not reply until he became aware of my review on YELP - quite some time later. Regarding his message today, that readers should review the "filtered" comments about his business, the very first comment (Kristie H.) is also a one star rating. Many of the other ratings are "blocked" because, according to YELP they failed to follow "content guidelines." Who knows who wrote the favorable comments.... But to intimate that a customer had a less than optimal teeth whitening experience because of an inability to follow post whitening instructions is ridiculous at best. I don't drink coffe, tea, red wine or engage in any other activities that would preclude MY being able to refrain from such activity for a day or two. Since my Printer's Row Dental experience, I have found a new dentist (Ora Studios) who I could not be happier with. I also had a teeth whitening session with Smiling Bright and could not have been more pleased with the results or the cost. Rather than trying to justify service that clearly was subpar, in MY opinion, perhaps Dr. Page should appreciate the gift that I've given him to even bother commenting on his practice to begin with, and endeavor to do better. As an update to my experience which I was fully honest about. Here is a letter I received in the mail today from the dentist: (as a note, I never said I lost my job... I said I was likely about to which is why I needed to use my insurance while I still had it..) "Just a quick note to discuss my disappointment. I am sorry to hear you lost your job. Unfortunately, losing your job does not give you the right to get free dental care. Further, when you published lies about Printers Row Dentistry online you set yourself up for liable and slander. When you publish falsified statements online you are responsible for legal damages, liable and slander is against the law. I must protect my reputation and have contacted my lawyer. He will begin legal action for slander and liable and he will seek monetary remuneration to make up for the damages caused by the lies published online. Further, I have documented and recorded everything told by you to Printers Row Dentistry Staff. Removed your lies may not be enough, the lawyer will want you to pay for slander. Respectfully, Dr. Page" I would not post a lie. I have no reason to. Just a heads up to those really considering this place. Intimidation is what this has resorted to. I saw Dr. Ema for a crown that had fallen out. I scheduled an emergency appointment for the very next day and without dental insurance, I was worried it would cost an arm and a leg. With the x-ray, anesthesia (which was worth it), and the recementing of the crown, the cost came to almost $300. A bit steep, but the staff was so helpful and patient and made me feel so welcome. The crown actually fits better now than it did before it fell out. Dr. Ema was able to get the crown back on quickly and was very friendly and professional and willing to answer any questions or concerns I had. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ema! read more

I am very disappointed with the dental service I received, and even more disappointed at the billing and coding practices of Dr. Page. I felt there was a lack of effort to contact my insurance for preauthorization for the dental charges. I was expected to pay up front, and I believe this gives the practice less incentive to follow through with the insurance claims. I felt this lack of incentive personally, as I was the middle man between the dental practice and my insurance company; I spent much more time doing this than I would have liked to. I have gone to Printers Row Dentistry for a few years, and have had a great experience. Mostly I've gone for cleanings, but did have to have some very old bonding replaced on one of my front teeth. It came out fine. The cleaning experience is great. None of the tedious and unpleasant scraping. He uses a high pressure sprayer, and my teeth feel amazing afterwards. I have had a very positive experience with this dentist office and Dr. Page. There is never any wait and the procedures are done quickly and efficiently. My favorite thing about this dentist is his use of the latest dentistry technology. Prior to coming to this office I hated going the dentist. I couldn't imagine how the crude instruments they used hadn't progressed in the last 30+ years. Where was the innovation in this field? I knew it had to be somewhere and was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Page introduced me to their teeth cleaning process which didn't include any sharp poking/scraping instruments. What a relief! The teeth cleaning was a breeze and I felt no pain like I usually do from all the poking around. I also got a filling and they used a diamond drillbit which was much faster and efficient than the alternative at most dentists' offices. Again, the technology allowed me to be in and out in no time. Recently, I worked with Dr. Page to replace my old nightguard for teeth grinding. He told me that there was a newer model that wasn't just a teeth grinding deterrent but eliminated it altogether by placing the jaw in a neutral position so that the muscles didn't need to move at all at night. I've been using it over a week now and it's amazing. I no longer wake up with a tired jaw or feeling like I wrestled a bear. Complete ease in my temples and jaw. I can't say that I like going to the dentist much more than I used to, but I will say that Dr. Page has made it a lot less anxious of an event for me. If you have felt like I did at any point in your life about going to the dentist I highly recommend you give this office a try. read more

Greedy. I ended up picking another dentist. I moved to Chicago from Mississippi in the middle of a "Clear Correct" alignment treatment. Clear Correct suggested Dr. Page based on my location and his being one of their approved dentists. I met with him for a routine cleaning and to discuss my clear correct case. My cleaning went okay - Dr. Page said that my teeth were very clean, he did a minimal cleaning. He seemed kind of dismissive when I talked about a hereditary auto-immune issue that affects the eyes and teeth and that I was on the lookout for indications. Afterwards, he said he would get back to me about the clear correct treatment plan once he'd received the old trays and paperwork from my previous dentist. When he received all the info from my previous dentist, he had his desk staff call to tell me that it would cost $3500 to continue my treatment with him. Clear Correct is paid completely up-front (the plan was created, all the trays were paid for, the computer and lab work done, and even a refinement stage and retainer were already paid for), so all that would be required would be office visits for adjustments and evaluations. Considering I'd paid $3200 for the entire treatment plan in the first place, including visits to my previous dentist, I called to discuss his quote thinking that he didn't understand that Clear Correct had already been paid. I even called Clear Correct directly to make sure they didn't need any more money. Dr. Page told me that he stood by his quote - so basically, he was going to charge me for the entire treatment plan a second time and keep all the money. He told me that I just didn't understand that dental services cost more in Chicago. I found a new dentist who took over the treatment and charges me for office visits every six weeks, which will end up costing less than $1000 in total when the treatment is finished (just one tray left. Yay!) - almost exactly what my previous dentist refunded me for my unused office visits in Mississippi. I guess the pricing wasn't all that different after all. read more

He didn't listen to a word I said. When I asked him questions about the awful pain I was experiencing in my mouth he told me, "Don't try and understand it"..."This is medicine and we're not always right." I asked him why I had a huge knot on the lower side of my jaw and he basically just gave me a Kanye shrug and said "I dont know." I went in for a free consultation and ended up paying almost $300 for an X-ray because he insisted, "That's what your insurance wants." Didn't learn a damn thing. I was in Chicago for business and was horrified when my crown broke in half. As I couldn't see my own dentist for several days, I asked the concierge for a dentist referral and she gave me a card for Printer's Row. I called and was able to get in early the next morning. I confirmed that they accepted my insurance, which they said they did. After filling out all of the forms upon arrival, I was brought a scratch piece of paper with numbers written down on it, indicating the cost of the appointment---almost $300. I said okay, and the receptionist just stood there. I asked her about accepting my dental coverage, and at that time she informed me that I would need to pay up front and they would submit my information to my dental insurance to be reimbursed. I was slightly annoyed at this point, but just wanted my tooth fixed. I saw the dentist a short while later. He said he had a great material that he could patch my tooth with and that would get me back home and help with the sensitivity. He took an x-ray, and then "patched" it. This was at around 11am. By 6pm, it had fallen out. I called that evening and left a message, requesting I get in first thing in the morning, as I was flying out that afternoon and was worried about how flying would affect the pressure in my tooth. I left my name and cell number, and never received a call back. I have a dental plan that has a maximum allowance per year, and after you hit that maximum, you pay out of pocket. I am extremely irritated that the so-called "patch" cost me almost $300 (which is ridiculous) and that it only last six hours! To top it off, no one bothered to call me back to fix it. The whole feeling in that office was uncomfortable, it just felt unprofessional. Even while sitting and waiting for the dentist to come over to see me, I could hear him talking about his paintings to another patient and how they could purchase cards---and how they would make great gifts. What dentist does that? It was very, very weird. I would definitely not recommend this dentistry and plan on writing to the hotel that referred me to tell them why. What a waste of money! read more

Three weeks ago while eating lunch with a client I noticed something stuck between two teeth. When I touched my mouth, I realized that what I had discovered was in fact that I had cracked one of my rear molars and all that was left was a gap between two teeth. I discreetly spit the cracked bloody tooth into my napkin. Kinda gross, but true. After lunch I called my regular dentist to ask if I could be seen for an emergency. Unfortunately it was a Friday and he wouldn't be in until Monday. So I made an appointment for Monday and went home from my meeting. But the tooth (or the space where the tooth was) started to pulsate and bleed more, figuring that couldn't be a good thing, I went on Google and found Dr. Gregory Page whose office is right around the corner from where I live. Many of his patients had left very favorable reviews about his "Proactive" approach to dentistry and his good business and kind dental practices. I called. Fortunately he was in the office and saw me within 30 minutes of my call. Once he started explaining to me by showing me my teeth with a camera attached to a wand projected on a big flat screen TV, I started my journey to learning about Proactive vs. Reactive dentistry. My teeth looked HUGE but I could clearly see where my cracked tooth was nothing more now than a platform where a real tooth once lived. Now it was nothing but a flat stump. I was horrified. Dr. Page calmly explained to me that it was likely my essential tooth was still OK. The dentin was not bleeding, only my gums, and the crack was not below my gum line. He predicted that there was a 95% chance he could build a new tooth for me with a crown that would last forever. I was skeptical because I see my regular dentist every six months for cleanings and I am always assured my teeth are in great shape. But here was the real truth, three more of my teeth had old amalgam fillings inserted forty to fifty years ago by my beloved but long since deceased first dentist. Amalgam was invented in 1820. That's not a typo, not 1920, but 1820! Amalgam was never meant to last as long as we use it, but in my case, the filling in the tooth that disappeared had naturally allowed bacteria to seep beneath it and eventually the filling became loose and once it fell out, there was nothing to support my old tooth. It just cracked off. Dr. Page claims he is a "dental nerd", he loves the most state of the art techie dental toys. I am an inventor of electronics so I completely understand his thinking. Fortunately he was able to salvage the base of my cracked-off tooth and build a post out of the remaining tooth material and take an impression of the missing space. Two days ago I went in and got a zirconium crown fitted on the post and now I feel like I have a bionic tooth! In time, Dr. Page will remove the remaining three amalgam fillings from my childhood and two of them can be fixed with simply a new porcelain filling. One tooth is so badly cracked that he will need to do to that tooth what he did to the original broken tooth that brought me the good fortune to find him. When all's said and done, two of my "old" teeth that were amalgam filled just outlived the use of the material. Two of them, though cracked a bit are still salvageable with a new ceramic filling. That will be simple and painless as Dr. Page has a very experienced "touch" and the replacement of my first tooth was truly painless and uneventful. I am grateful to Dr. Page and his staff for their kindness, professionalism, and for the immaculate office they keep. Nothing could stop me from recommending Dr. Page to you and at the very least, let him asses your dental situation so that he can "Proactively" fix any problems you might have instead of having to React like I did with my broken tooth. An ounce of prevention will be worth a pound of cure. Nobody paid me to write this, I just hope you read it so that your dental future is bright and that your teeth last forever. Dental woes are miserable and societally we tend to take our teeth for granted until we have severe problems or before it's too late and dentures are your only (bad) choice. read more

Not only did Dr. Ema perform my routine dental cleaning herself, but she spent a lot of time with me answering my questions and providing information. I never felt rushed, even though I had scheduled the last appointment of the day on a Friday. When she found a cavity, she also offered to fill it on the spot. She even called afterwards to ensure that I had not had any issues with the filling over the weekend! The office also had so many thoughtful touches-- from the lovely selection of teas and coffees in the waiting area to a charging station for phones in the exam rooms. like Evelyn S. in previous review, I did not really appreciate a phone call from Dr. Page the day my review appeared, especially when he threatened to sue. He now has tried to justify the cost by saying he had to do extra work on me at the time, a build up. I really don't know what that entails. It seemed to me to be an ordinary procedure. But more importantly, when I gave him the list of prices from other dentists and he called then, he never said anything about extra work justifying it. He only said he was the lowest priced dentist in the loop area. I was completely satisfied with the work he did. The crown is fine. I was only upset that his price was so high in comparison to other dentists. So, as to quality of work, I would give him a four, and his receptionist was wonderful. I went to Dr. Page for a cracked tooth last year. I thought he did a pretty good job fixing the crack but he was extremely unprofessional. He was very flirtatious and he wound up asking me out on a date right after fixing my tooth. What's worse is that I was engaged at the time and he was over twice my age. Before, coming in I called several times and received voice message that they can't come to the phone, even that they were open. I went anyways. I walked in and first thing I told them that I was trying to reach them several times without luck. Their answer was because they were watching today's Eclipse and the phone was on HOLD, come on give me a break. The most of my disappointment was with the receptionist Rachel. Since, she was on the phone I had a chance to talk to Dr. Emma in getting my teeth whiting. She was polite in giving me an idea of the pricing and what she would recommend for me as to the whiting but of course not without full examination. Later, I did ask her about getting temporary tooth and crown for the future after getting my front implant done. Dr. Emma was ok to give me an explanation and pricing for the crown and temporary tooth (WAY, WAY more then I paid in the beginning of this year with different Dr.). But she asked of me to ask Rachel for pricing since, she is more familiar with it. Ya sure. I started to explain to Rachel my needs and she was just listening, not even looking me in the eyes, being very dismissive, and did not even know what I was telling her, she was like what are you saying to me. She gave me a price for temporary tooth like 3/4K and I was like, are you serious I paid $100 in the beginning of the year with different Dr. And she was like because you need to come for a check up, but there is no need for it, I told her. You just make an impression of the teeth and have the plastics made and that is it. She looked at me confused. All this time when I was talking to her, of course she was ignoring me, she was telling me to make appt, make appt. and then I will be given the price. I will not return to this office ever.
