Great call back system, "leave your number and we will call you back ASAP". I called 4X w/o a call back. MY (EX) primary refused to refill some RX w/o seeing me for a few months. She is 100% correct. The only problem is she is not available for 2 plus months! So I left he a message that I can't get an appointment can she step in and advise as to what I should do. OF course, no call back except from my pharmacy who received a call that I need to make an appointment. I called again and was advised that my Dr. is not available. SOLUTION is to get rid of every prohealth Dr. I see and switch to a new group.

The medical office is in excellent condition, but a face lift that offers a welcoming environment, with modernized lighting would be an added pleasure to the waiting room. Meanwhile, the staff is friendly and very accommodating for waiting patients. Marius Leon Pessah, MD is my primary physician at this location. I have been incredibly pleased with my experiences with the doctor. He treats you with professionalism and care. Although the doctor does have a busy practice, I have been always able to schedule an appointment easily and I have received a response to any questions often the same day that I had called. I have consulted with other doctors in my life, and I am fortunate to find a MD that is knowledgeable, accommodating, and concerned as Marius Leon Pessah, MD This a doctor that makes an investment in the health and well-being of his patients. I think people need more than that in a general practitioner. My only complaint is when I went to get a thyroid scan I had to call him numerous times to get his feedback on the scan. The process literally took a month just to track him down. His staff is decent at trying to track him down but be prepared to wait on the line for 5 to 10 minutes. The whole practice seems to lack compassion and familiarity with the patient. Overall I probably won't stay with this doctor but I've been to worse.

In the interest of full disclosure, I…read moredid send two friends to her and they didn't love her- Doctors are a very tricky thing and I can make no promises that she's the right doc for you just because she's right for me. Here are just some of the reasons I love going to Dr. Joannow: 1) She gives me an HIV test as part of my annual exam. It has nothing to do with my sex life, it's just a routine thing that she believes in and I think all doctors should follow suit. 2) In seven years she's maybe bruised my arm drawing blood once. I have colitis so I get a lot of blood tests, and this kind of track record is amazing 3) She's very concerned with female health and likes to be kept in the loop with my ob/gyn. 4) She loves to chat, but also listens and is very responsive to concerns and requests. 5) She's on call. I know it sometimes frustrates her because people take advantage of this, but it really is reassuring knowing that I can ping her on her cell phone in an emergency. 6) She supports local business and turned me on to Olympia Chemists, which is my new pharmacy and beats the hell out of CVS. 7) If she's booked up and you need to get in to see her she'll make every effort to squeeze you in- you just have to be comfortable with waiting patiently for her to have a window of opportunity between scheduled patients. She's not in her Astoria office everyday because she's sometimes at the hospital and I believe also has a practice on Long Island (I might be wrong about that) but she's a tireless and devoted woman who genuinely cares more about the patient than the money. We've shared many a gripe about Insurance companies and poor interpersonal skills within the health care industry. Again, I can't promise that a doctor that's right for me will be right for you, but I recommend giving her a try. Oh, also of note, she has a policy for referrals and other types of paper work. She prefers to have a week to get that sort of stuff done, because doing it all at the time of request would eat-up her time with patients. It's a bit of a pain, but I understand why she has that policy and I appreciate the thought behind it.

I state this based on my very frequent dealings on behalf of my Mum( I am her health care proxy) plus encounters and experiences with multiple physicians and offices here in Nassau County, New York since March 2019. 1) He is a straight shooter. He does not sugarcoat anything. He does this in a calm way where the patient ( even if a nonagenarian) gets it. 2) He really cares. He spends quality time I mean 25 plus minutes sitting eye to eye with the patient and really having a conversation about the patient's overall well-being. He ensures that all questions about everything and from everyone( including accompanying family) are answered. I love this. This is refreshing in 2022. 3) He answers his cell phone. Grateful that when we had an emergency on a Sunday during COVID, he picked up his cell and spent some quality time helping. 4) He came to visit my mother at Northwell LIJ in August 2019 when she had surgery. 5) His staff is fantastic, just like him. Mom came to visit me in Virginia and New Mexico in 2022 and Elizabeth at the front desk was solid. She was proactive and arranged for a phone consult with Doc and then the required prescriptions to be sent to the local CVS pharmacies in seconds. Shout out to Melvin and Monisha who also work the desk and are very kind and helpful. The office is open Mon - Saturday ( closed Thursdays) and is on Hillside Ave just east of Lakeville Rd. Dr Maniego is a great Doc and a just a good, good man. We are blessed and fortunate.

When I called in June to make an appointment I was told that the office had been closed and Dr. Stark took an extra three weeks off. Then I needed a medical letter for my job and called the office to learn that he was on vacation. I asked if another doctor could help me but was told "no." I also was told that he had no available appointments for the next three months. The office manager said she would inquire and see if anyone could help. But when I called to follow up I was told she "was in meetings and unavailable." No one ever got back to me and I never got a much needed letter. The doctor and his staff were completely INDIFFERENT. Ordinarily I would not accept this treatment but in a pandemic, it is negligence.

And he is readily available to his patients. But Stark's best quality is that he is thorough as all hell. He caught a Schwannoma (a benign tumor common in people in their 50's) on my 20 year old sister's spine with tiniest of symptoms. He is not afraid to send you for a test, but he does not waste time & money on tests you don't really need. Just a great General Practitioner.

The office itself is clean and neat with free wifi . Easy to locate and situated in the same building as the quest diagnostic lab. Office hours is convenient , setting up appointment is easy , won't give you any hard time . On my first likeable encounters with them, the Doctor returned my call of concern right away. I did not had any trouble , waiting or attitude from medical staff when Asking for medical records or data. How I wish I'd known and had this group ever since.
