This place is a piece of my childhood. Is it as good as it was years ago? Maybe? A little. It's hard to give a very recent review because every time we want to eat there, they are closed. The burger is pretty good. Crinkle fries are cooked crispy. Pork steak has always been a winner but it's pricey. I tend to grill mine at home because that hurts my feelings. Happened upon Louise BBQ by chance while on a road trip. The service was quick, attentive and polite. It has a "joint" vibe which we love. The side dishes were amazing. Fried okra was spot on, sweet potato casserole was perfect, cream corn was like my aunt used to make. SO these are the reasons I gave it 2 stars. But it's billed as a BBQ joint - so I ordered the pork. HUGE disappointment. What I got was little cubes of dry, over cooked bbq pork absolutely drowned in BBQ sauce. The whole dish had a burnt taste, not a "burnt ends" kind of taste but just burnt BBQ sauce like it had burned in the warming pan. I really wish I had remembered to take a photo of the pork, it looked like BBQ soup. My wife had the BBQ chicken and that was better, great taste and a lot of chicken for the price but a little dry. Perhaps I should have tried the Port Steak that everyone raves about but my first time in a BBQ restaurant I try the BBQ and this was a disappointment. read more

First I called and called until I finally went up there and ordered a chicken breast and wing plate with onion rings and baked beans. I only live 3.5 miles from the BBQ pit but when I got home the beans were cold and the chicken was the smallest I've ever seen and dry as a bone and the onion rings were cold and soggy I've tried calling them to complain but apparently their phone is not working I just want my money back at this point read more

I thought I had eaten the worst bbq before, but I was wrong. This place is the worst! The only saving grace was the salad. We got the chopped beef, salad, and fried onion rings. For my plate it was $10 and my husband got the chopped beef sandwich with the side salad and onion rings. The chopped beef came all mixed in with barbeque sauce. It did not look fresh at all. Warning....Warning.....Warning. Do not eat at this place. I have had better everything at a "BBQ" restaurant from the frozen food section in Sav-a-lot. It's been a long time since I have been here, but how disgusting can a place be. To start out with it took 30 minutes to get a sandwich, baked beans, and tea to go. I opened the box up to take a picture, and was floored. When I unwrapped the sandwich, it had a god awful amount of sauce on the meat (I use the term meat very loosely. It more resembled charcoal), and there was more off the bun than on the sandwich. There was 4 times the slaw (store bought and old) than there was meat. My Where 2 Q friends this was an all time pitiful for someone in the business of selling BBQ. Plain and simple, it sucked!!!! 0/10 The beans were almost as bad. 2/10. Again, I try to be positive, but when a BBQ joint is so bad that I can't eat 1/2 of the sandwich, and almost none of the beans, stay away from here. It is really that bad. I am driving down to Nee Orleans from Yankee country, but as one with southern roots Yelp didn't steer me wrong. This is a great hole-in-the-wall southern BBQ. GET THE FRIED PORK STEAKS WITH CLEAR (BBQ) SAUCE. The food is filling and tasty. The staff (all female grom what i see) is very friendly and exude the southern hospitality well. The waitress didn't ask what I wanted to drink, but rather asked if I wanted sweet tea. The facility is old and run down and there are harsh fluorescent lighting, but I dont care. I like Louise's lunch plate specials. Usually it is a pork chop, choices of veggies, roll or cornbread. I am from the South and appreciate having a place to go to get some good basic home cooking. For veggies I generally choose black-eyed peas and turnip greens. It is hard to make a batch of either of those for one or two people, so having a place to go and order them is wonderful!!! I think highly enough of Louise's that I chose it as the last American restaurant to take my daughter to before she flew to China for two years! The acoustics are terrible - the lunchtime crowd voices seem to all bounce off the ceiling right back at you which makes conversation at your own table difficult. I go there for the the food, not for conversation with a friend. And sometimes, the crowd looks like a gathering of "Angry White Men" which makes me feel uncomfortable. But the food is still good. This is one of the non-chain places located in Crystal Springs. It is right off of the Interstate and HWY 27 and is a better option than others. The place looked a little rundown from the outside and in, but the food tasted fresh and vibrant. It was definitely a no thrills experience, but it seemed like a popular place with the locals, which is always a good sign. read more

My husband and I stopped in 5 years ago in mid-afternoon for BBQ sandwiches and to try the place out as we'd just moved to Crystal Springs. It was the worst! We were the only customers in the place that time of day, so you'd think the cook would come up with a great meal. I ordered the brisket sandwich and fries. the fries were greasy and not hot. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings were over-fried and greasy and looked like they'd been sitting under the warmer light for a long while. My husband couldn't bite through even one. Both of our sandwiches were horrible! I had to pick through the huge amount of sauce to find the tiny pieces of brisket which were more like pieces of leather and impossible to chew. His pulled pork sandwich was the same. Waitress was grouchy & rude. Have never gone back. I have talked to people who go there a lot at lunchtime and really liked the food, though, so one star for that. read more

Remember it's barbecue, not fancy just sticky good. Chicken is great! Ribs are an inferior cut but tasty. The coleslaw is among the best I've ever had, even the tea is great. They have daily "Blue Plate Specials" and the chicken livers were a real surprise, if you enjoy chicken livers as I do. We just sampled them this trip. The service is down home fun and helpful. I stopped in a few days ago for lunch and wasn't disappointed. I had chicken, ribs, coleslaw, and broccoli with cheese. I eat and cook a lot of BBQ and am very particular about what "good" BBQ is, and I must say that the chicken was probably the best I've ever had. The breast was tender, juicy and full of peppery sweet flavor. The ribs were a little on the over done side but still very tasty. The flavor is credited to their clear sauce which was good, but the BBQ was so good it didn't need sauce. I can't wait until I'm back through that area to eat some more of that chicken. read more

If you are craving barbecue this is the spot! When we drove by this place there was a full parking lot so it was a good indication that the food was good. It's conveniently located right off the freeway. We ordered Pork ribs, beef and sausage. Everything was delicious. The Cole slaw, potato salad and bbq beans were excellent! They make their own barbecue sauce which I highly recommend. There is a good variety if you are traveling with kids-which we were..French fries, hamburgers, onion rings, chicken strips and rib eye.
