Keep in mind my fiance doesn't know much about the mechanics of the firearm, this is why we picked this pistol to get her started. This clerk starts asking her to rack the slide, drop the magazine, what type of bullet does the pistol use, how many rounds does it hold, who makes the firearm? She answers most of his questions and handled the firearm responsibility but he told her it was a "red flag" because she didnt know all the questions he asked and he personally thinks she is buying the gun for me!! Then tells her this isn't a "starter pistol"!! I ask what is a starter pistol? And ask for a manager, he states he is the manger! Then a lady i have worked with before says she is the manager!! I have helped all my daughters and other friends and family buy firearms and get trained. This experience ruined my fiance experience buying her first firearm. Needless to say I won't EVER buy here again..

Anyways, it took maybe all of 10 minutes, $60, and I was out the door with my goods. I'll likely go back there for all the other accessories, holsters, etc. They have an excellent selection for pretty much anything you're into, and the prices seemed to be on par with expectations. I've been looking for a roof rack loader for my Pescador Perception so, since Thule and Yakima accessories are pretty much interchangeable, I Google search Thule and Yakima dealers in the area. Two popped up and The Backpacker was one of them. It's a dreary rainy day and lunch time. I managed to find the shop in spite of the lunch traffic on Jefferson Hwy. I parked and walked inside. I was immediately received with a friendly greeting by several of the staff with offers to help me. I told them I was "just looking around" and they left me to myself with me knowing if I needed any help they'd be there. I like that. I wandered around for about 30 minutes and I managed to find a few things. Some I needed and some I didn't know I needed. So, I carried my bounty to the register and was checking out. I asked the young man if they had a THule or Yakima kayak loader. He replied, " We don't have any T-hule loaders or Yakima loaders in stock." I always find it amusing when the folks in the outfitting shops do that. I'm not "Sveedish" so I'll continue to say "THule" LOL. In all seriousness, the shop is very comfortable and friendly. The staff are extremely helpful and not overbearing/pushy. I travel to BR often on business and I'll continue to stop by "The Backpacker" to find things I didn't know I needed. I'm convinced that if they don't have it, you don't really need it. We came in to see about some ON brand of shoes to help with the long weekend of walking. They had a decent selection, tho the size I needed for the style I like wasn't to be had today. I believe it's a discontinued model, as it was on sale and almost identical to another that was regular price. Pulling up they had a managers sale outside with some really drastic price cuts, on Birkenstocks, Hoka, Kuhl, Patagonia, and Free People brands. Wife got a Free People sweater for $19.99! Inside it's wide open and tall in height, the shoes and other items were up a set of stairs. They had several of the big brands in stock, tho the amount and variety of styles of each brand was limited. They carry the clothes and shoes as well as kayaks, bikes, and a few other sport items. Great place. Prices were MSRP on what we looked at, so the same here as other stores.
