After a terrible experience at a local bar in Berkeley, my friends and I decided to try a local bar in Oakland, and the warm welcome we received was AMAZING. This place is nicely set up, with a stage area walled off from the bar so it's not so loud if you're not ready to dance yet. They had killer Halloween decorations up, and they have a rotating gallery on their walls featuring work by local artists. The bartenders were both super nice, as was the doorman, and I felt appreciated as a customer. I don't know how good their prices are because a very friendly gentleman bought my drinks all night, but their Blueberry Lemon Drop shot is tasty! Seriously, last night I made my way from Fremont to Oakland to check out this place based on Yelp reviews and everyone who gave this place high markings was on point. Its a hidden gem, and off the beaten path. However, as soon as you step in you're greeted w a warm smile from the gorgeous Stephanie, owner and bartendar-goddess. The lounge area is dim-lit, inviting you to sit back and relax on their well-worn couches and in a separate room, there's a huge dance floor w enough space to accommodate a band or dj and folks wanting to shake their bootays. The women's bathroom (can't speak for the men's but I'm sure its no different), and this is very important... was CLEAN. As a resident of Maui, I frequent many of the bars on island and what sets these bars/lounges apart from the mainland is the hospitality, the gracious host(ess), the feel-good, no worries vibe, the unpretentiousness, come as you are kind of bar. And I'm happy to say Lounge 3411 is all that and more because Maui doesn't have a bar owner like Stephanie. I wish this place was closer to my area, I'd be there all the time! A couple of friends of mine are DJ's and once a month they spin there (Fruity Cocktail!!) so I drove out to go support them and have a good time. The owner who was also the bartender was so sweet and friendly!!! Didn't feel pressured to get drinks or anything, just good vibes. Also they don't skimp on the alcohol ;] The bathroom was very clean as well! There is a dance floor (with a stripper pole!!) and a little mini lounge area with a couch. Wow I can't honestly believe the dirt bags that wrote poor reviews for this place. They honestly prove that you can't please everyone all the time. The people that run this bar are two of the nicest most welcoming people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The bar always serves very well made drinks and probably the best price you will ever pay for the size drinks they serve. I just wish they had some food and snack for sale haha. The bar is obviously a work in progress and each time I come I see it improving. I will gladly support these amazing people and have had a good time every time I go. I really can't say anything wrong this place. It's a great local lounge, no problems, and good workers. Strange location and doesn't really have a sign that says you're at the right location. You basically had to find it through maps app or be walked in by someone you know. Great beer selection, doesn't change very often and vast amount of liquor of course. Don't really know the wine situation. It was my first time trying moonshine.. I know it's not the legit one but it was still a good time. A lot of space and places to sit. There's also an entire other room where a Dj is set up and more seating. They have tvs so you can watch any games as well. Call ahead because if it's an early game you'll have no luck. They open a bit late which is perfectly fine. Plenty of parking all around the building, never a problem with that. Next to a Taco Bell in case you et hungry. They do have food but haven't tried it. This bar is amazing, the owner is amazing, the drinks are amazing (and strong!!) and the vibes are amazing!!! Try the Dark and Stormy's!!! Homemade ginger syrup = amazing!!! Threw a surprise party for a friend here and had an amazing time! We were all treated like we were high end customers and promptly served amazing cocktails. The owner was even nice enough to open an hour early so we could come and set up. I can't say enough good things about the staff, the bar, the drinks and the feeling you get when you go to 3411. It's like one gigantic crazy partying family. XOXOXO! It's nice to know that there are still bars out there where customer service/remembering regulars/locals is still regarded as proper service. Fun enjoy able staff with an awesome owner who is also a bartender! They have all the typical drinks younger people love to down and price that allow you to have a great night out without breaking the bank! They also have a great couch lounge area with super squishy couches that let you get cozy and provide a homy feeling to sit down and chill with friends while sipping on your super fatt drinks! Came here on NYE and it was pretty hoppin' or poppin' (what do kids use these days?). It was pretty crowded but nothing I can't squeeze through. The crowd was nice and excited for the new years count down and everyone was friendly. They provided food which was a plus! There is a front and back area which is pretty small but somehow provided adequate seating for all those who were not exactly coherent from the alcohol. Ahem. Anyways, the music was chill and a mix of different styles so there was something for everyone. We love this place. The owner is awesome and makes great drinks. Has a great old fashioned she makes, as well as some house made syrups for a number of other cocktails. Every First Friday is a spectacular breakbeat party called Faultline, and other electronic music parties throughout the month. The bar is separated with the dance floor in another room with great sound for the dive it appears to be. The art on the walls rotates every month with local artists. This is pretty much the best nightclub in oakland for electronic music fans. on Friday and Saturday nights. Plus Taco Tuesdays, Karaoke on Wednesdays, and live music on Thursdays. I would hit up Taco Bell, the Liquor Store, back in the day I would get some donuts I never knew this hidden gem was in my neighborhood. From the outside it doesn't look like there is even a bar/lounge. With no signs in the front except for the address, hence 3411, this is forsure a low-key spot. The owner/bartender is Awesome! Her name is Stephanie. I was just introduced to this place as of last year and every time I step foot into this lounge, I feel right a home. The service is excellent. The drinks are good and the music is dope! They have a variety of genres during the week/month. I prefer to go on Thursday's for Roots Shack Reggae or Tuesday's for Taco Tuesday's. The weekend is also a good time, but its either hit or miss with the crowd. The atmosphere is not HOOD or GHETTO. When people think Oakland, they think of violence and ghetto people. This is not the case. There was only one incident that this place was crazy wild! This was on New Years Eve. The scene was mostly Asians, which is not normal because this was probably alot of peoples first time at this place. That night reminded me of clubs like Mission Rock or City Nights (Not my cup of tea). Since I am a little older now, I appreciate the 21+ Lounges/bars. Anyways, when I walked into the lounge that night, I had the vibe that something bad was going to go down. A minute before the new year, a fight broke out. =( Normally this type of scene doesn't happen here at 3411. BTW, I also DJ here on certain occasions. Steph gave me the opportunity to DJ her Birthday party which was over the weekend. You glance at the big flat screen above- nice they got the game on, however you've been craving for a dose of the Matrix, so they respond by turning it on... The night is young yet you begin to notice the energy in the adjacent room is increasing. Hmmm. A large window behind the couches gives you a clue as to what's happening in there. So you take your final sip before removing yourself and embarking on the party side of the lounge. Yes! People are dancing, not just mean mugging each other or trying to steal your girlfriend. Yes! You admire and appreciate the lighting and sound system. A local artist is doing live painting off to the corner. Sick! It's almost too good to be true. "A-OK" by worldwide status but this is home and you begin to fall in love with Jessica, Stephanie and the big Samoan guy who seems to have everything on lock. F-it, you think. 5 stars it is. From the outside it's typical "Town" business being carried out throughout Oakland's Laurel as one may think 3411 is merely another dive. My first night here I walked to meet my roommate at 3411 (that ended up being across the street from my place) and I instantly was elated. Super dark , awesome atmosphere with $2 beers until 10. There's always a DJ spinning something in the back dance room (complete with stripper pole!). If you are planning on checking out Lounge 3411, you need to try Stephanie's version of a 'Dark & Stormy'. It is the most refreshing, delicious drink in the world. I was in the drive thru of Taco Bell, "Where the heck is that music coming from?" My curiosity lead me to circle the block and there it was, a handful of people smoking in front of a building that looked vacant (no signage) and my eyes were able to focus on a small sign that read, "no persons under 21allowed". I did not go in that night because I didn't want my car window to get smashed for my taco supremes but a few nights later my cousin invited me to come here. I came here for the first time on Saturday night. With 3 live bands and an awesome owner, I did not hesitate to drop some dollars here. First round of drinks were free, compliments of my cousin's referral program and in return, 3 paid round of drinks and a life long patron. You get a nice local art scene as the decor produces walls covered in great Art and a nice lounge session with couches lining one "room" (the lounge); Great for anyone wanting to sit down and chop it up over that nice heavy drink that is in your hand. You also have a dance floor where you'll find DJ's (like myself) cutting it up and Bboys/Girls getting down. Sure you'll run into the random person who still thinks the Roger Rabbit is battle worthy, but really does it matter? No. And why? Well you're in the enclosed dance floor rocking out to heavy basslines, so thick the hair on your arm raises up. You've got a DJ who is playing something other than the whack shit you heard on KMEL on the way to the club. You have dancing poles randomly tucked away as a handful of females take their turns on trying to get it down. One or two succeed with great results while the others make it a fun memory in the process. Really you can have some of the best nights in a place like this. I came here in an attempt to do "young people things" with my old college roommate (we're both in our early twenties but are now living the lives of people in their mid thirties). This place is located right next door to a Taco Bell. There are no signs outside to announce its location other than the building number, so you're better off looking for the ginormous Taco Bell sign instead. The neighborhood really isn't that bad. Based on some of these other reviews, I was expecting to step out into the heart of ghettoness. The only somewhat shady thing I saw was a guy smoking a joint outside of his apartment. There were no people asking us for money or sleeping all over the sidewalk. There were no heroin addicts shooting themselves up in dark doorways or human fecal matter all over the sidewalk like there is the Tenderloin. We got here before the dancing had started (it starts at 10:30PM on Saturday night). The decor is minimal. If you're looking for an upscale looking super classy night club, you're probably better off going elsewhere. This place has a bit more of a hole in the wall feel to it. It reminded me of the co-op I lived in in Berkeley. The dance floor is lined with regular sofas in a way that reminded me of how we used to just push the furniture against the walls to clear the floor before a party. What this place lacks in decor though, it more than makes up for in character. Everyone from the the bouncer at the door to the ladies working the bar were super cheerful and friendly. The experience just felt like going to the local neighborhood bar. As for the alcohol, my friend and I told the bartender what we normally enjoy and asked for a recommendation. The drinks she made us were spot on, and she let us have the first round on the house since it was our first time there. She came back to check on us several more times and to offer us water which is a nice change since I normally have to struggle to flag down the bartender at other places. Sadly my youthfulness ran out around 11PM and I had to go home and go to bed before the dancing really picked up so I can't tell you too much about that. Price: If you're here for the dancing, there is no cover fee. If you're here for the drinks, a cocktail costs $10. I'm not sure how much other drinks cost here. All in all, I enjoyed the lack of pretentiousness here. No one is going to charge you to sit down, there's no dress code, and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. They offer a few events throughout the week such as beer pong, taco Tuesdays, karaoke, live music, and of course dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. read more
