This place has way less stars than it deserves. I've had four different sandwiches from Lou's now and they have all been delicious; the turkey melt is my favorite so far, but their chicken parmesan, chopped cheese, and Italian sandwiches have also all been fantastic. I've only grabbed food from their takeout window, but the people working there are also really friendly. It seems like based on the reviews that some people came here specifically for the kale caesar wrap and were really disappointed not to have their minds blown? I haven't had the wrap yet myself but I find that hilarious and I urge you to not let that stop you from trying Lou's out. read more

Picked up a chicken Caesar wrap here the other day and was super excited by their menu. I love a chicken cutlet, so was thrilled to see that I could opt into a cutlet rather than regular crispy chicken. I will say the cutlet was great, however a little thicker than I usually expect. The flavor was there and I wish I could order this as is! The wrap didn't do it for me, mainly bc of the salad mix and chicken proportions. If you're a heavy on the lettuce person, this wrap is for you. It's HUGE, mainly because of the amount of lettuce. We ended up dissecting the sandwich and taking some lettuce out. Flavor was great! I will not there is no seating, so it is 100% a takeout spot. We ended up going to a park about a mile away to enjoy. Parking is street only, very difficult, may need to walk 3-4 blocks. Best bet is to park by the park. The restaurant has a sign outside that says if ordering to go you can order at Lou's Deli but if eating there you need to go around to the other side for entry into Happy Medium. Tried: Chicken parm $16.99: the chicken was overcooked and tough. It didn't need the pesto, it made it taste a little odd. Bread was super crunchy, ends were too hard to eat. Finally got around to trying Lou's deli, and I must admit.. I'm impressed! I'd heard about the chicken ceaser wrap from tiktok and instagram. The wrap itself was massive and contained lots of crispy chicken. I ordered an extra side of dressing, but it really wasn't necessary. The wrap itself wasn't dry at all, and the kale added a nice crunch. I'd definitely return in the future and check out more of the menu. read more

Came here for the wrap hype, left disappointed. Chicken Caesar Wrap: Ehhh For $17 dollars, it was quite unremarkable. Texture of the chicken and the salad didn't last long. We got it to go and after 10 minutes it was felt soggy already. The sauces and flavors of the entire wrap were kind of lackluster and just tasted like leaves. It didn't seem that busy but also took like 20 minutes to come out which was interesting. But they share a seating space with the bar next door so it's kinda nice to sit on the patio on a nice day. Lou's deli located on Lincoln across from Saigon coffee. Stopped in to grabbed some to go food before our boots in the park concert. We ordered the Italian and a tuna club to go, as it's all to go unless you're ordering from the bar next door. We took the sandwiches back to our hotel and feasted on them in the room. Both sandwiches were full of meat and full of flavor. The Italian was so juicy and wet it literally made a giant mess in your hands. However, that's said, it was an absolutely epic sandwich full of flavors and worth the price and worth the wait. The turkey club was also super tasty and full of meat and flavors. **3.5 stars** Lou's is home to the viral Kale Caesar Wrap! I am admittedly deep in my Chicken Caesar Wrap phase and just haddd to make my way down to Lou's to see what all the hype was about. I got their Kale Caesar Wrap with crispy chicken (you can opt for grilled) and a margarita (they have quite a funny sign about day drinking). I'm sorry to say that I found their Kale Caesar Wrap just alright. While it's a great size and I loved the crispy chicken, I think it could've used a smidge more dressing. I know that it's called a kale wrap, but my jaw can only take chewing only kale for so long.... and it was a big wrap... I LOVED the margarita! They give it to you in an inconspicuous kiddy sippy cup with cartoon animals on it. How utterly cute! I'm obsessed with this concept! Oh! Also! I picked up the "Philly Style Roast Pork on a soft hoagie roll for $15.99 plus tax. The sandwich came with roasted pork and broccoli rabe with Provolone cheese, and a side of pork au jus in a small container. They also give you a small bag of freshly popped popcorn with your sandwich, which is kind of cool. The sandwich came with a good amount of the roasted pork. It had good flavor and was nicely seasoned, however, it was on the borderline of being dry; hence, the reason why they probably serve it with a side of au jus. I do recommend they place the pork on the hot griddle, squirt a little water on it, then place the provolone on the meat. and proceed to cover it with a lid to melt the cheese properly and ensure the meat stays juicy, but that is just me. Also, don't hold back on Provolone because the cheese on this particular sandwich was hardly noticeable. It was barely melted and contained a single level across the sandwich. The au jus was good, but overly salty. I had to use it sparingly or else the salt level would overwhelm the sandwich. The broccoli rabe was good but some of the pieces were over cooked and did not provide that good bite. The service was very good. Everyone was very nice. I tried the "VIRAL" Chicken Caesar Wrap. Flavor was good- love that there's banana peppers in the wrap. The wrap came with complimentary dill pickle popcorn. HOWEVER, Looks can be deceiving. Half of the wrap showed chicken but when you bite into it, there was NONE. Only added chicken in the center where it's sliced in half. I didn't know I ordered just a kale wrap for $17. You can see how much of the wrap was just kale. My partner had the chopped cheese sandwich/hoagie with a side of tater tots and it was pretty good. I had to take some of his protein to add to my no protein wrap so it didn't seem like a waste. To compare, Better Blendz is a 5 minute walk from here, it's more affordable and you can taste every bite filled with flavor and comes with a lot of chicken at Better Blendz. Service was whatever. Server didn't check up on us even though we sat in a location where she always had to pass by. For this to be viral, knowing that many pay to try this wrap, it should be consistent. Sooo I'll drive for a good sandwich and this place is not so close to me but I'll give you the pros and cons. Service is hit or miss. I don't expect much because it's not like a sit down place but I asked the girl working nicely if our sandwiches are ready since we had to make an appointment and it had been quite a wait. Now for the real meat and potatoes, the famed chicken ceaser wrap is tasty but they charge you more for a wrap versus a roll which doesn't make sense. The sauce is delicious but can be lacking sometimes so like so many other reviews say it's not consistent, and the grilled chicken is moister and delish but is used sparingly in the wrap. The crispy chicken is lacking in flavor and drier so I'd pick grilled. The new pastrami roast beef sandwich with the American cheese and onions is ridiculously good though. I was blown away with the flavor on that one. The pickle popcorn is a cute touch but to be completely forward it's dry and salty. Found this place through Instagram and it didn't disappoint. Ordered the Louie's Italian Sub and it came with some pickle popcorn on the side (I believe all the sandwiches do). I also subbed the Italian dressing for some caesar dressing instead and it was really good. The sandwich was a good size and very filling. Wasn't sure how I felt about the pickle popcorn at first but I was very surprised! It was very citrus-y and actually really good! It almost tasted like you added some lemon to your popcorn. If you're a pickle lover, I'm sure you will enjoy it! I was there with a friend and the sandwiches were both ready in about 10 minutes I'd say. At first we weren't sure where to sit since it seemed like there wasn't seating anywhere but we were told that we could sit anywhere inside the place next door which was a cocktail bar called Happy Medium. Stopped by Lou's on a Sunday for lunch and ordered in Happy Medium as opposed to at the window. The staff were immediately very friendly and offered suggestions on the menu. My friend and I split the chicken parm and the chicken caesar wrap and both were SO good. The parm had a pesto on it that added a nice lemony flavor that was unexpected but very welcome. The caesar wrap was also 10/10 and had the perfect ratio of dressing to filling. My friend ordered the pickle beer as well which was delicious and paired super well with the bar food menu. We left so full, but so satisfied, these were some of the best sandwiches/wraps we've had in SD in a while. I definitely want to come back to Happy Medium during happy hour to try some more of the Lou's menu items. I also noticed they have margarita pitchers which I feel like is hard to find these days! The one here in SD is a sandwich shop window next door to the recently opened Happy Medium. They share the same kitchen and ownership on a busy corner of 30th St in North Park. The current operating hours are limited to weekdays between 11 am and 3 pm. Ten regular sandwiches and two specials were at the core of the menu. Three salads and three sides were the other food offerings. The drinks featured beer, wine, cocktails, slushees, and some non-alcoholic beverages. I pulled up within their last half hour of business and ordered one of the two specials, a Pork Belly Sando. Crispy pork belly slices were served with pickled red onion and chimichurri on ciabatti bread. The sandwich was cut in half and wrapped in wax paper. A bag of Lou's Pickle Popcorn was provided as a complimentary snack. It wasn't the thickest sandwich by any means, but the fatty pork belly was so decadent. The red onion helped cut through the richness of the meat. I took my order to go, however you can sit on the covered sidewalk patio of Happy Medium to enjoy your food as they are not busy during the time in which Lou's Deli is in business. read more
