It had been a while since we went to Common Stock. We definitely be back soon! The drinks were well balanced and delicious. The steak was fantastically prepared. Joe's service was impeccable and inviting. We sat on the patio which ended up being perfect as the fans kept it cooler than inside. We will definitely be back soon.

Excellent bar and restaurant in the North Park area you won't want to miss! It has a classy and upscale vibe but come as you are. We happened upon this place for happy hour, which is a great deal. The old fashioned was really good and they have a decent wine list, both at great prices. We also ordered some popcorn chicken, Brussels, and the chicken sandwich. The Brussels were absolutely out of this world, as was the sandwich! The popcorn chicken was also really good...but the Brussels sprouts are worth coming for alone. The service was great and there is plenty of bar seating. If you're in the North Park area make sure to stop by, especially at happy hour!

Great restaurant for the whole family, that always hit the spot! Joe was very friendly and welcoming amazing server. Nice garden vibe outside and a bit moody inside. Would definitely visit again want to try the popcorn chicken!

I am honestly surprised I have not written a review for this place yet, I found this place in 2021. I bring visitors here all the time, and it has become my ultimate comfort food spot. I tend to keep it simple and order the same items every time. My go to is the crispy Brussels for $14 and the chicken sandwich for $16, and I usually rotate in the parmesan fries for $10. While they do offer other dishes that are worth trying, these favorites always keep me coming back. The service and ambiance are consistently great. It is located in Hillcrest, so the area is always lively, which adds to the overall experience. The energy, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a reliable choice whether I am dining with friends or hosting out of town guests. Parking can be a bit challenging, but that is typical for Hillcrest. I usually plan ahead and look for street parking nearby.

Really happy with our lunch today! On a Saturday around 3 we came to sit at the bar for a few drinks + snacks. I loved the shrimp and grits-- great flavor and perfectly cooked shrimp. I wouldn't mind if it had a little more spice to it, but nevertheless really good!! My partner got the chicken sando and rated it 8/10. It had a good crunch and good bread with pickled carrots and (I think) daikon, just a bit too sweet for our taste with hoisin sauce! Loved the fries and their ranch is fabulous. The bartender was helpful with making our choices and quick with the delicious drinks :) Also a cute & quaint outdoor dog-friendly patio!

Brussels caesar with Nashville hot chicken! Sooo good! Great service, cocktails and ambiance!

Super chill atmosphere and we celebrated my stepson's wedding. Parking is available for a small fee right across the street, which is ideal. We ordered the brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and bao buns. The food was delicious! The bar can make so many drinks not on the menu, just ask. The customer service was profesional and attentive.

Fried chicken bites for happy hour, karaage style? Sign me up! I truly love a well-rounded happy hour menu. Come for the drinks, stay for the phenomenal bites, great service, and lovely ambiance.

I came here with my boyfriend a couple months ago for a date since we were in the area. The staff here was super friendly and surprisingly, there was no wait! We ended up sitting inside. We got the brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich, the their chicken leg dish. I can't quite remember what the name of the chicken leg dish was. The food overall was decent, I did like my sandwich. The chicken leg was a bit dry and I do wish it had a side with it. The brussel sprouts were really good and I liked the homemade croutons with it. It's a nice spot for a date, though parking is mostly street or paid parking. The moody lighting really sets up the scene. I would imagine the parking is less busy than on a weekend night. I definitely want to come back here for happy hour.

Stopped in for a solo dinner on Saturday evening. Lindsey took care of me and delivered outstanding service. She was kind, genuine, and confident with her menu suggestions. She stayed attentive the entire time. I would ask for her again. The food was excellent. The tuna toastaditas had strong flavor and a solid portion. The rotisserie chicken had great seasoning and was cooked well. The slaw ran a bit spicy for my taste. The dessert stood out. The banana and toffee pudding had a rich flavor and the portion felt right. I would come back for the food alone. I did not try the drinks, but many guests ordered some good looking options. I also didn't wait because I sat at the bar. Would definitely recommend.

Great spot to grab food and drinks in Hillcrest. It's pretty underrated, idk why more people don't talk about this spot! The food we got was really good and so were the drinks. Service was also great. Parking can be a pain depending on the time of day but all in all not bad. Would definitely come here again.

3 stars for the food, 5 stars for the drinks, so I gave em 4 stars. Got the brussels sprouts and artichoke hearts and they were doused in far too much sauce and insanely salty. I love the vegetables for what they are and want sauce and seasoning to enhance them, not be the star of the show. Got the hot honey chicken and pork belly bao buns which were pretty good, nice and fluffy. Drinks wise, I got the blueberry bramble as well as the berries & cream (both vodka drinks). they were fantastic, so refreshing. Old fashioned was also top notch! server was wonderful and kind. the ambiance is amazing and is a great spot for a date or cozy evening with friends.

If you want free parking. Most likely 4-5 blocks away. Otherwise. Paid parking abound.

Good for large groups? Thinking of having a celebratory dinner here.

The location has a large U shaped bar in the center of the indoor space. A large group might work if it is warm and they have the "garage style" door open so your party could be on one side of the U indoor/outdoor

Is there a happy hour? What days and times?

Every day 3-6pm. $5 drafts, $2 off all wines by the glass, $2 off margarita and Paloma

    Can I bring dogs?

Definitely! We have patio tables right in front of the restaurant that are perfect for parties with pups.

I initially ordered the something and picante (can't remember the full name) and found it to be way too sweet. Then switched to a basic Lalo with soda and lime to cleanse my palette. After tried their version of an espresso martini which was quite good but made with nitro brew and kahlua so a bit on the sweeter side. I'm really glad that I found Oculto because it has been one of the highlights of my San Diego trip. First of all, the concept of the seven deadly sins is really cool. The space is absolutely moody, intimate, and thoughtfully designed. It has an atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy your drink rather than rush through it. And since I don't really drink, I was definitely going slow. And I was alone, but the good part was I found myself just taking it all in instead of reaching for my phone. I started with an espresso martini-style cocktail that was smooth, balanced, and the perfect way to ease into the evening. For my second drink, I asked for the bartender's choice, and it ended up being one of my favorite cocktails I've had in a long time. It featured lychee, strawberry, and cardamom, and was garnished with a beautiful little rose. It was creative, elegant, and every flavor worked together perfectly. The cocktails were outstanding, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Devin was an excellent bartender and an amazing conversationalist. He was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, making me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. He took the time to craft a drink based on flavors I enjoy, and it was clear he cares about creating a great experience, not just serving drinks. If you're looking for a cocktail bar with incredible drinks, a gorgeous atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality, I can't recommend Oculto enough. Full disclosure, I'm a sucker for a themed speakeasy, and Oculto delivered with its Mexican gothic twist. Entering through a confessional booth, confessing your sins before once again giving over to temptation as you sample seven deadly sins-themed libations; oh yeah, this is the themed spectacle that I adore! For those wanting to visit, Oculto is small and reservations are a must. They also have a two drink minimum and the seatings are timed. Everything we ordered was fantastic and I adored the presentation. My only complaint, and the reason for the four stars, is that despite its small size, service was still on the slower side. I get that the bartenders are making complicated craft cocktails, but when you have a two drink minimum AND a time limit for your guests, maybe speed it up a little bit? We would have loved to order another round but sadly ran out of time on our reservation. But everything else about the bar was fantastic, and I will definitely be back for another night of debauchery in the future!

Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. We left unsatisfied and ended up getting in-n-out after.

Such an interesting layout, but it works! We got to sit at a table right next to the waterfall and pond. Our server was very nice. Probably the only slip-up in service, was that our main came out when we had barely put a dent in apps. We were probably chatting and sipping on wine too much? The expo realized, kept the mains, and said take your time. Then he brought out mains when we were ready. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. My friend and I decided to both get the steak on the hot stone. It comes out raw and you have to keep track of time to cook it how you like it. You can choose flavored salts and butters and sauces for the side. We also shared the pickled strawberry salad. It had lots of toppings, flavor, and textures. The pozole verde was also excellent.

I like that they regularly introduce limited-time food and cocktail specials, so there's usually something new to try while still keeping some of their popular favorites on the menu. Everything I've ordered over multiple visits has been well prepared, and I haven't had a bad meal yet. It's definitely on the pricier side, so I see it more as a place for celebrations, date nights, or when you want a unique dining experience rather than an everyday meal.
