I am honestly surprised I have not written a review for this place yet, I found this place in 2021. I bring visitors here all the time, and it has become my ultimate comfort food spot. I tend to keep it simple and order the same items every time. My go to is the crispy Brussels for $14 and the chicken sandwich for $16, and I usually rotate in the parmesan fries for $10. While they do offer other dishes that are worth trying, these favorites always keep me coming back. The service and ambiance are consistently great. It is located in Hillcrest, so the area is always lively, which adds to the overall experience. The energy, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a reliable choice whether I am dining with friends or hosting out of town guests. Parking can be a bit challenging, but that is typical for Hillcrest. I usually plan ahead and look for street parking nearby. read more

I love the vegetables for what they are and want sauce and seasoning to enhance them, not be the star of the show. I came here with my boyfriend a couple months ago for a date since we were in the area. The staff here was super friendly and surprisingly, there was no wait! We ended up sitting inside. We got the brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich, the their chicken leg dish. I can't quite remember what the name of the chicken leg dish was. The food overall was decent, I did like my sandwich. The chicken leg was a bit dry and I do wish it had a side with it. The brussel sprouts were really good and I liked the homemade croutons with it. It's a nice spot for a date, though parking is mostly street or paid parking. The moody lighting really sets up the scene. I would imagine the parking is less busy than on a weekend night. Really happy with our lunch today! On a Saturday around 3 we came to sit at the bar for a few drinks + snacks. I loved the shrimp and grits-- great flavor and perfectly cooked shrimp. I wouldn't mind if it had a little more spice to it, but nevertheless really good!! My partner got the chicken sando and rated it 8/10. I really liked the viet twist they put in it (the pickled carrots) - felt like a fused banh mi + chicken sando. We got a couple of things to share on top of our own individual entrees: -- Brussel Sprouts - this is your run of the mill brussels + cheese on top. Tbh, couldve done without the cheese... -- Shakshuka - this is yummy, but why only 3 pieces of bread haha. I need more carbs to dip the yummy, cheesy tomatoey eggy mixture. Stopped in for a solo dinner on Saturday evening. Lindsey took care of me and delivered outstanding service. She was kind, genuine, and confident with her menu suggestions. She stayed attentive the entire time. I would ask for her again. The food was excellent. The tuna toastaditas had strong flavor and a solid portion. The rotisserie chicken had great seasoning and was cooked well. The slaw ran a bit spicy for my taste. The dessert stood out. I visited Common Stock during a business conference. My two friends and I went on a Sunday just after Noon. I was surprised that the restaurant was almost completely empty. This place is so cool and delicious! I loved that they had outdoor seating and that the front windows have garage doors so we're wide open for the beautiful day. Especially since I was coming from frozen Chicago! They allow dogs outside. The service was fantastic, even when we forgot to mention an allergy and had to change up a dish at the last minute. We didn't get any side eye and they swapped it out quickly. Our bad. The Nashville, hot chicken and waffles were so spicy and sweet. The waffles were delicious and a bit savory. I thought I would be let down after the chicken and waffles, but the Japanese sweet potato hash was so flavorful that I almost licked the plate!!! Our friend loved his burger and added some Serrano peppers to it, which he said, elevated it even further. The bloody Mary was solid, even without vodka! Okay! We were looking for a place to grab dinner and this place is 10/10! Not only do they have excellent customer service from the moment you step inside but the atmosphere has such a relaxed and chill vibe. We came here with our kids on a week day afternoon. The chicken sliders are the perfect amount of spice but you can put the sauce on the side if you want. The chicken and waffles speaks for itself. The hot chicken sandwich is spicy and has an amazing pickled veggie sauce. The regular chicken sandwich is just as good if you aren't into spicy things. If you don't want chicken they have salads and cheeseburgers. The truffle and Unami fries are the perfect sides to add but we were told they are known for the Brussels sprouts so we will have to try those next time. They have decent drink menu and bar. One of my favorites in San Diego! A must visit every time we're in town, even if just for the fries - salty, garlicky, crispy delicious golden goodness! The restaurant is in a nice location, with plenty of street parking along the block. There are other restaurants and bars in the area. They have nice indoor/outdoor table and bar situation with a patio, great for nice weather. Everything we order off the menu is always a hit (rec the steak frites and gochujang broccoli). I've been wanting to check out Common Stock for a while, and I'm glad I finally did. The service was friendly and honestly exceptional. I was pleased to find that they make a great Old Fashioned. The interior has a nice vibe, and there's a small patio ip front if you want to dine outside. Now, the food is where it fell a bit short. I had the chicken and waffles and I luuuuurv chicken and waffles, but this one missed the mark. Unfortunately, the chicken lacked flavor and was dry. I appreciate that it was deboned, but I could've picked my teeth with it. The waffle itself was good, but with this dish, you really need both elements to shine. Tried the cheeseburger too and it was good, but it came a la carte. No fries? With the competition they've got around the corner, that's a surprise but I'm gluttonous. Anywho, will I be back? Fantastic chicken and strong drinks! Located within Hillcrest is Common Stock, which offers a decent variety of food, but their specialty is their chicken! It always taste moist and has great flavors to boot. When we arrive we're always seated quite promptly without much delay, and the server comes over to check on us frequently enough. They're also very nice at talking over their selection if you have any questions. Ambiance is also really nice and the lighting is great, especially in the evenings. It's a relatively open building format so the seating doesn't feel cramped with other patrons. They usually switch out the drinks quite often which also draws us back in every once in a while to dine at Common Stock, and I have no doubts we'll certainly be back soon enough! read more

It had this inviting view that drew us closer. We were immediately greeted at the door. The young gentleman lead us to our seat and gave us menus. My wife and I checked out Common Stock yesterday out of curiosity, and I'm so glad we did! We live right around the corner, and it's amazing to have such a delicious spot so close by. You can tell the people behind the dishes put real thought and creativity into them--every bite was impressive. Came here a bit ago with my Partner and it's such a cool vibe. The place is dim lit except for your table which has an overhead light to show off your yummy food. Great place for brunch! I had a spicy bloody mary that paired well with the double brunch burger and charred romaine caesar salad we ordered. The fries here are some of the best fries I have ever had; flavor, crunch and softness inside. The charred romaine lettuce caesar was packed with delicious flavor (highly recommend). The brunch burger might possibly be the best hangover cure with the fried egg, double smash patties with cheese on those perfect burger buns. Spilt an order of Karage Chicken Bites which were spicy. Lots of pieces so felt like you did get a good bang for your buck. The Gochujang charred broccoli was disappointing because it wasn't really charred. It felt steamed. They dumped a bunch of sauce on it which couldn't really mask how bland the dish was. If you are a curry lover I would recommend trying it. I had the kale and spinach waldorf salad with crispy chicken and it was very delicious. The salad at first glance seems small but the bowl is deep and actually is a lot of food. We ordered two other appetizers which were also were very good. Surprisingly the appetizers portions are very big and could easily be served as an entree. There were a lot of tiny flies and gnats which took away from our experience a little. Met a friend here for happy hour (appreciated the later HH end time of 6pm). We shared the chicken sliders, tots, quesabirria egg rolls and opted for the house white wine. This was just enough food for 2 people as the sliders had only 2 but you get 4 egg rolls (I think 2 large ones cut in half). The egg rolls were the star of the show as the beef was so tender and flavorful. I probably could have done without the sliders but they were tiny enough to get a nice bite of flavor without feeling over the top full. The staff was great - attentive but not too intrusive and very pleasant. The venue itself is small (bar takes up most of the inside) but lots of outdoor seating and a few 2 person booths inside. First time here, found this place on Yelp and we came hungry from the SD zoo.It was clean and has nice vibes. The weather today was great so the patio was perfect as the sun went down. Food was amazing. We ordered chicken sliders, tots, and ahi off the happy hour menu. The ahi was my favorite, tasted very fresh and the garnish was different and refreshing! My entree was the hot honey chicken. It was very filling, the chicken was juicy with a really nice crispy breading. The sauce was sweet with a tiny kick, I was grateful the sauce wasn't so heavily put on - usually makes my chicken Sandos soggy. What sold it for us... we realized when we sat down it wasn't really a place for kids. The staff was SO NICE to my kids. They asked them questions and responded in such a friendly manner.
