I been meaning to leave this review but haven't gotten to it. Thoroughly disappointed in one of the staff members service. I came in for happy hour with some of my clients, those of which had been there for a few hours, we missed the HH but joined in. Their original server was extremely nice and attentive. The server who helped us, not only was extremely dismissive and rude, he lied and brought over the POS mini when closing us out, I had asked if the tip was already included given the group size. He said "no." So I added tip. After having the receipt texted to me. I noticed the auto grat for 20% (which is standard), but I then added an 18% tip on that, as I was told it wasn't included. Especially for how rude he was - I'm extremely unhappy with his dishonesty. Will absolutely never come back. Food was ok...drinks were great. read more

Excellent bar and restaurant in the North Park area you won't want to miss! It has a classy and upscale vibe but come as you are. We happened upon this place for happy hour, which is a great deal. The old fashioned was really good and they have a decent wine list, both at great prices. We also ordered some popcorn chicken, Brussels, and the chicken sandwich. The Brussels were absolutely out of this world, as was the sandwich! The popcorn chicken was also really good...but the Brussels sprouts are worth coming for alone. I am honestly surprised I have not written a review for this place yet, I found this place in 2021. I bring visitors here all the time, and it has become my ultimate comfort food spot. I tend to keep it simple and order the same items every time. My go to is the crispy Brussels for $14 and the chicken sandwich for $16, and I usually rotate in the parmesan fries for $10. While they do offer other dishes that are worth trying, these favorites always keep me coming back. The service and ambiance are consistently great. It is located in Hillcrest, so the area is always lively, which adds to the overall experience. The energy, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a reliable choice whether I am dining with friends or hosting out of town guests. Really happy with our lunch today! On a Saturday around 3 we came to sit at the bar for a few drinks + snacks. I loved the shrimp and grits-- great flavor and perfectly cooked shrimp. I wouldn't mind if it had a little more spice to it, but nevertheless really good!! My partner got the chicken sando and rated it 8/10. August 2026. Very disappointed and underwhelmed. The food was ok. Steak and fries good. The chicken was very dry - even the dark meat. The bigger issue was the service. I don't think it ever works to have multiple people serve the table. There's no continuity and stuff gets forgotten. We had multiple orders not logged and therefore not delivered. We ordered both the Brussels and the ahi crackers for appetizers. The Brussels came 5 minutes later. Perfect timing. But the ahi never showed. I don't think it was until we mentioned it. It had really been a long time so we asked to cancel. But they lets us know the entrees were delayed and told us they'd comp the ahi. All right, whatever, we had them. They were still on the bill but I didn't say anything. Also midway through I asked for a second beer but it never came. I wanted the Mexican lager and the server even asked if I wanted a line. But I think this order directly preceded the discussion about the ahi so it must have been forgotten. My final gripe: I really don't like places that bring entrees staggered, or when they're ready. The steak came and the chicken followed about 5 minutes later. We're a party of 2. It's not like a 6 top and the poor server needs to make 2 trips. All in all this place isn't really for us so we won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Food & Drinks: The food was just okay. I love shrimp & grits so decided to order those here and the grits were so salty that I couldn't finish even half. The Japanese potato hash was good at first but it was I slowly grew out of it. The brussels sprouts were okay too, a bit too charred for my taste. Some of their cocktails were goo, the iced americano was very acidic and i could tell that it had been sitting awhile. Ambiance: The place is pretty and quite open inside. Decent seating size too. One of my favorites in San Diego! A must visit every time we're in town, even if just for the fries - salty, garlicky, crispy delicious golden goodness! The restaurant is in a nice location, with plenty of street parking along the block. There are other restaurants and bars in the area. They have nice indoor/outdoor table and bar situation with a patio, great for nice weather. Everything we order off the menu is always a hit (rec the steak frites and gochujang broccoli). The interior has a nice vibe, and there's a small patio ip front if you want to dine outside. Now, the food is where it fell a bit short. I had the chicken and waffles and I luuuuurv chicken and waffles, but this one missed the mark. Unfortunately, the chicken lacked flavor and was dry. I appreciate that it was deboned, but I could've picked my teeth with it. The waffle itself was good, but with this dish, you really need both elements to shine. Tried the cheeseburger too and it was good, but it came a la carte. No fries? With the competition they've got around the corner, that's a surprise but I'm gluttonous. Anywho, will I be back? I visited Common Stock during a business conference. My two friends and I went on a Sunday just after Noon. I was surprised that the restaurant was almost completely empty. This place is so cool and delicious! I loved that they had outdoor seating and that the front windows have garage doors so we're wide open for the beautiful day. Especially since I was coming from frozen Chicago! They allow dogs outside. The service was fantastic, even when we forgot to mention an allergy and had to change up a dish at the last minute. We didn't get any side eye and they swapped it out quickly. Our bad. The Nashville, hot chicken and waffles were so spicy and sweet. The waffles were delicious and a bit savory. I thought I would be let down after the chicken and waffles, but the Japanese sweet potato hash was so flavorful that I almost licked the plate!!! Our friend loved his burger and added some Serrano peppers to it, which he said, elevated it even further. The bloody Mary was solid, even without vodka! Okay! We were looking for a place to grab dinner and this place is 10/10! Not only do they have excellent customer service from the moment you step inside but the atmosphere has such a relaxed and chill vibe. We came here with our kids on a week day afternoon. The chicken sliders are the perfect amount of spice but you can put the sauce on the side if you want. The chicken and waffles speaks for itself. The hot chicken sandwich is spicy and has an amazing pickled veggie sauce. The regular chicken sandwich is just as good if you aren't into spicy things. If you don't want chicken they have salads and cheeseburgers. Fantastic chicken and strong drinks! Located within Hillcrest is Common Stock, which offers a decent variety of food, but their specialty is their chicken! It always taste moist and has great flavors to boot. When we arrive we're always seated quite promptly without much delay, and the server comes over to check on us frequently enough. They're also very nice at talking over their selection if you have any questions. Ambiance is also really nice and the lighting is great, especially in the evenings. It's a relatively open building format so the seating doesn't feel cramped with other patrons. They usually switch out the drinks quite often which also draws us back in every once in a while to dine at Common Stock, and I have no doubts we'll certainly be back soon enough! read more

Great place for brunch! I had a spicy bloody mary that paired well with the double brunch burger and charred romaine caesar salad we ordered. The fries here are some of the best fries I have ever had; flavor, crunch and softness inside. The charred romaine lettuce caesar was packed with delicious flavor (highly recommend). The brunch burger might possibly be the best hangover cure with the fried egg, double smash patties with cheese on those perfect burger buns.
