Super cool bar! The whole vibe is cowboy aliens, which is just really funny and unique. I love the garage doors that are always open to let the breeze in and allow you to sit half inside, and half outside. I got the kimchi fried rice and it was outstanding! Unique cocktail drinks. I love the laid back, chill vibes of this place. It can be pretty crowded on the weekends (maybe because everyone knows that they have good cocktails!) I'm sad to be writing this but I just visited happy medium for happy hour this week with my friend and was excited to check it out. There was a margarita option as well as a margarita pitcher option which apparently consisted of different ingredients. My friend asked if she could get the margarita modified without elderberry since she was allergic, and our waitress told her she couldn't and said that she could only get the margarita pitcher if she wanted it without elderberry. So, we got the margarita pitcher which was a mistake. It was by far the worst margarita I've ever had and I've had my fair share of bad margaritas. It didn't taste like a margarita at all but instead more like really bad flavored water (with a slight hint of lemon). On top of that, they filled up the pitcher entirely with ice. When we mentioned our concerns to the waitress, she was annoyed and didn't do anything to try to help or make our experience better. So we ended up pouring it into a separate cup to separate the ice from the drink to avoid diluting it further. I'm curious if other people had a similar experience with their margarita pitcher or if I just happened to catch them on an off day. I'm all for checking out new happy hour spots, but it's safe to say that I will not be returning back to this establishment, which is truly a bummer considering how busy and popular this place usually looks. Fun neighborhood spot with great prices and happy hour! We came on a Tues around 5 and it was packed. Even then we were greeted right when we walked in and the whole time service was great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The space isn't huge but we were able to find a spot right away. They have happy hour from 4-6 mon through Thurs and 3-6 on Fri with both food and drink options. I got a hazy IPA for $6 and my partner got the mini version of their espresso martini for $7. Love that they use Saigon coffee since they're right next door. We didn't get food but it looked like they had some tasty options. For food, he went with the chopped cheese -- basically a burger but the meat is chopped up, which was a fun twist -- and I ordered the roast beef dip. I went with the roast beef. I ordered the BBQ sauce on the side because I had my eye on their honey mustard for the fries (huge honey mustard fan here). Turns out, dipping the roast beef into the honey mustard was even better than the BBQ for me. Highly recommend if you're a fellow honey mustard lover. Expected a bit more from this spot when BF and I pooped in on a warm Sunday afternoon. Drink menu was creative but there was no AC or fans so it was too darn hot inside to feel entirely comfortable. The presence of flies buzzing around the garnishment trays was also a bit off putting, though they were mostly kept at bay by the mini rotators. These factors kept us from ordering a second round, unfortunately. As for the drinks, the Wu Tang adult slushie served in a jungle themed kiddie cup was sweet and fun, but seemed like it had barely any alcohol content. BF got a vermouth and gin concoction which had the opposite issue from my drink which was that he found it too one note alcoholic. I've been to this place on multiple occasions, and each time the staff wasn't friendly. Went here to watch the soccer game yesterday and it was crowded (which we expected). From the beginning I noticed the bartenders were looking at us a certain way, the bar was really loud so I didn't think much of it. At some point some rude blonde woman walked up me and told me they weren't serving our entire group. Apparently, someone in our group had a vape (the smell of cigarettes filled the bar numerous times). Regardless, I understand establishments have a no vape policy but to not serve the entire group without warning was unwarranted. I believe they saw someone near me holding a vape but I didn't smell or see any smoke. Again, no warning, they just refused service without giving a reason. Food and drink is mid as well. I ultimately try to of their drinks one of which was recently added to the menu. It is not 100% sure if it will stick around, but I had to try it. That one was blue Monday. Definitely had a more bubbly sweet side to it, but there was a bit of an aroma taste afterwards. The other drink that I got was what I thought was Ward 8 but I think I accidentally was given something else. It was a good drink, but definitely on the strong side which meant it's more to take slow sips of. I didn't try any of their food but did see others getting entrées which helped make the place smell really nice. Do you keep in mind that The outside patio does not remain as open as the inside. Mainly since they are in a residential area. Completely understandable but definitely good to know in case you are sitting on the patio or are wanting to sit on the patio after a certain time. Doesn't matter how many individuals come in here they let everyone in even if it says it handles just a certain amount of people. Life was giving me lemons so I decided to make it into a whiskey drink by coming to Happy Medium on a Wednesday night. Life instantly became better because the tv had great things on it. The service was quick and super engaging and present. The energy was nice. And the drinks were fire. It wasn't overly loud and the wait time was little to none despite it being about 60 percent full. Came with my homeboy and we ordered two drinks a piece. He went with beer which he thought was pretty standard. I had the Ward 8 which had bourbon, tang, lemon, pomegranate, bitters and tang salt. That was the winner of the night. I followed up with a drink from the holiday special menu which include beers and shots and hot toddy's etc. I went with the Brooklyn amber lager and a fireball shot and it was a good combo. Return visit to sample the menu. It did not disappoint! Came on a Sunday afternoon with Saigon coffee in hand. The Happy Medium was teaming with patrons and dogs. We snagged the last table in the patio and perused the menu. Notice they collaborated with Saigon Coffee in their cocktails and serve lunch items from Lou's deli in the adjoining property. After lunch they serve their own menu items which I'll have to return to try. Today the same lady waitstaff greeted us and were still on point with service and a smile. I ordered the pastrami sandwich on rye and a pickle beer. The richness of hot pastrami washed down with a briny pickle beer resets your tastebuds for the next bite. This was a tasty twosome to say the least. I also had a bite of my son's chicken parm sandwich. Fried chicken breast cutlet topped with mozzarella and a spicy vodka marinara spinkled with parm was also a big hit. The tangy, spicy, crunchy, cheesy goodness of this hot sandwich was so comforting on this chilly afternoon. The cocktails are unique and we enjoyed both of our drinks. We ended up splitting a kale Caesar salad and Italian sub for our meal. Both were delicious. The sandwich was served on a hoagie roll.
