Staff is mostly ok with the exception a young guy, seems Hispanic, always gives people the hardest of times, makes snarky comments when people order expensive firearms and gear to be picked up. Not sure if he is envious or what, he gives a really bad vibe to the place. At some point even suggested that I ordered and had my stuff sent to another place other than Lou's. Not sure if he owns the place or not but that's not good for business. Always makes sure to let you know that it's not his priority to process your order fast and that it will get done "when it gets done". Everyone else is nice but this guy is awful, and the sad part is that he is the manager or something. Horrific. I would strongly advice to go somewhere else to buy your guns, and apparel, there is a place near called Florida Gun Center in Hialeah, they are nice, strict where needed and avoid unnecessary headaches. Give cool advice on guns and don't ridicule for being a customer! That Hispanic guy is running Lou's reputation and I would seriously consider demoting him to door greeter or letting him go all together. read more

I've been buying guns from Lou's since they were in east Hialeah. Trusting them I purchased a rifle a couple of weeks ago. I just saw the receipt on my desk. Out of curiosity I compared what I paid to prices online and it was over $120.00. BUYER BEWARE. Shop online and haggle with Lou's. If they are not willing to sell it for the price you want, don't buy it from them. If they tell you they can't reduce the price due to overhead, tell them you are not there to pay their overhead. Go online, order the item, send it to a FFL close to you, and pay the transfer fee (usually $15 - $20). This reminds me of the old adage, "Trust me, F you". Well thank you Lou's. Awful customer service. the staff I dealt with were rude, raising their voice at simple questions, bought a gun and I've been waiting for 2 weeks for them to ship a single firearm, and a holster. absolutely ridiculous. Everytime I try to get ahold of them to get updates or answers as to why this is they just say " leave a name and number and we'll direct you to the right person" or "they're not here right now." Don't waste your money on these people even if you get the blue label discount. read more

For starters, I'm a newbie in regards to firearms; a true novice if you will, but with a lot of research done prior to my deciding "ok, now's the time to finally purchase my first firearm". I was kindly greeted by Lou himself regardless he was busy with another customer. Once done, Lou approached me and made me feel at home, home as if no one is going to take advantage of me and my cuasi-total ignorance about firearms. He then re-directed me to Armando, an excellent sales associate with plenty of experience and even more patience, introduced me and almost one hour later I was ringing up my not one, but first two guns -out of my own insistence, not Armando's. On his end, Armando answered all of my questions, ranging from the most superstitious ones to the most basic and fundamental. The guy knows his stuff from a to z, and doesn't boast about it. He basically focused on my needs, my priorities and my aesthetic preferences, procured to show me all of the choices available, helped me out with all of the paperwork, and enlightened me about the post-purchase steps I must take as a responsible gun owner. He took his time, and made me feel comfortable in an ambient that is usually distrustful of everyone who walks through the door. This is my friendly gun shop from now on. Lou's has been in Hialeah for a very long time. I'm not a handgun enthusiast but I needed a firearm and they seemed to be the biggest game in town. I did my research before I went and I was relatively informed. Prices of guns and accessories were ridiculously inflated. When I went their handgun inventory was laughable. Sales and service personnel were a bunch of young guys with limited knowledge of firearms. They take trade ins toward purchases but they lowball hard. Bass pro offered 25% more for my trade in and Shoot Straight in Ft. Lauderdale offered a whopping 100% more than Lou's. I was really disappointed because I want to support the local guy. Unfortunately in this age of online information and sales you can't just crank up your prices by 50% and expect people to take it. These people really do not want business from the public. They deal and cater to police and law enforcement. If you need help and advice they treat you like you are taking up their valuable time. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I'm a 30 year resident of Miami Lakes and Hialeah and I will use a wooden stick to defend myself before I ever go back to Lou's for a firearm. read more

I went here on a recommendation from my parents to purchase a fire arm. I gave 4 stars because my experience was as enjoyable as can be expected given the times we are in with ammo shortage and lack of options due to lack of ammo. Nevertheless I purchased a weapon filled out the documentation and waited the 5 days as mandated in Dade county. I go to pick up my weapon and asked if there were other options, sure enough there was. I was able to change my weapon and pay the difference. My wife even purchased her gun as well! For all things that go PewpEwPeW and are tacticool, Lou's is your spot. You don't have to be active military or law enforcement to buy here... I believe you get a little discount if you are though. Throughout the years I've purchased a few firearms and optics here. I'd say their prices are competitive... But yeah it can be hard to compete with the national online shops. Recently priced a Bushmaster ACR, Lou's quoted within $100 of the cheapest I could find online. I ended up buying it online only because Lou's couldn't get it in the right color... That sounds so lame now that I write it. I wanted the rifle to match my eyes though. That sounded even lamer. JK? They have a large selection and variety of firearms. They also do Class 3 stuff. Attentive and helpful - may not be the most patient though. The one issue you might find is that it may take a while to be seen, this place can get busy. There isn't a number system but they seem pretty good about knowing who came first... Or who has been lingering the longest lol. Avoid going on Caturdays if you can cause it'll probably be super packed. Closed Sundays. They have parking along the side of the building. Maybe about 10-15 spaces. You might have to park roadside around the block or just block someone in if it's full... I hope it isn't a cop if do though - he/she probably just bought some fresh cartridges for his/her taser. read more

The paperwork was pretty fast and easy to fill out ($5 for a background check). I was told I needed to come back in a few days for pick up, once I returned on a Saturday morning the service a bit slow, I waited around 15/20 minutes then I decided that I was going to leave when I was approached by Jorge, and he assisted me right away. Blue Label prices matched Glock's official Blue Label price list. Transaction was a breeze and atmosphere was pleasant. Wide variety of items available and on display. Transfer fees...at $50 + $5 for a background check, they're high for the area. I've found several FFLs that will do a transfer + background check for $25 - $30. Overall, a great place. I've purchased two firearms from lou's within the past year. This place is pretty sweet. It's in a giant warehouse with tons of stuff for your gun needs. The lines for guns usually build up pretty long. You have to wait for your number to be called (think Publix deli), but you can shop around while you are. They have an extensive collection of firearms, more than any store in the area. They seem to be knowledgeable and friendly, mind you they are in the business of selling not chatting. The gun prices are the best I've seen in south Florida, especially if you're law enforcement. This is the not gun store I can go to and leave not feeling like I was cheated.
