I found out the hard way.I took her and now she's good and she's only 5 not 9.

And let's be honest we are all busy in life don't give me we are to busy with limitation to call backs, even emails, then hire a staff member directly for that purpose, or may a few because you'd think at least one person would reach out if you contact more then one person!!! Some people on the outside of the APL care for animals. Further more if you involve this APL they don't care about feelings to people or animals in situations of keeping them with there original family when asked for help in tough situations, they lie!!! I found out when I was told they could get a foster or a temporary hold because of my situation which was the first they straight up and put them in as a surrender to be put up for adoption!!! So my babies got shipped off like some step child in hopes they adjust!!! There's no way in hell they were gone in a few days another lie!!! Then they make you feel bad and tell you it's your fault because they lie. That might not happen to everyone but for me it did!!! The Supervisor was not nice neither I came to pick up my animals and she said I couldn't get them, so it's clear they are still there apparently, but she said she's not allowing me to get them, because they were ill meaning my fault and because one cat had natty hair!!!! Turns out the cat got Hyperthyroidism which they can contract after age 12 and the cat is 13, the thyroid problem also makes the cats appearance look ungroomed and and start a natty process from side effects making it hard to keep up and ain't that something I was lied to and pushed aside for doing nothing wrong but asking for help till I got situated which was not even a week!!! When I went to get them they were posted on line not even a day, they were still showing as I walked in at 5:45pm they close at 6:30 last adoption is at 6pm and when I was sent away took me 20 minutes to get back looked on line again they took them off the sight!!!! It's a bunch shit and I'm gonna get some kind justice out of this because you wouldn't acknowledge a good hearted person who loved her cats like it was her kid!!! Shame on me for thinking I'd get help, must of been to much for a few days of help how is it caring when your forcing animal to adjust when they didn't have too how nice of you , I think not HORRIBLE!!! Now I'm left missing my babies I ache, I only thought they were going to hold them for me just for one day and I lost them disgusting

What a wonderful shelter with caring and loving staff! We got our Minnie from this shelter 3 years…read moreago, as hard to believe as that is, and it's been such a blessing for all of us! I will always be grateful for them helping us find our new family friend! This shelter really does everything they can for all of their animals to keep them safe and healthy! They are incredibly hard working and committed to their animals in a loving and supportive way; whether it taking them to the vet at any time of the day or night to helping mother dogs birth their puppies, they are right there caring for them every step of the way! They go above and beyond to rescue animals and take in any stray/surrender they can! That's how they found Minnie. They do their best to find their animals homes that will take care of their needs as well as work with the new families in any needs they have. They really know each and every one of the animals they care for by their personality and interests. These staff members have a personal relationship with these animals instead of only knowing them by a number or "name". I honestly am very proud of all their hard work, their abilities to conquer through anything and admire their passionate hearts! 5 stars is not a high enough award that this rescue deserves as they clearly do 10 star and above work! I hope you consider checking them out for a new furry friend and see all of the care they receive here!

I appreciate all the love they show both my pups (one from their rescue, and our older dog from another rescue) when we drop them off. They know their personalities and how to handle each of them. We used to have a family friend watch the dogs at home when we were out of town, so I was a bit nervous the first time we left them, but the staff made sure to let me know we could contact them to check on the dogs any time... and now my dogs are exited to go back and play when we are out of town. Thank you for all your hard work ROAR staff!!!

Great staff and facility…read more With my daughters Girl Scout troop we took a tour of the facility. They have a great group of volunteers that care deeply for all the animals. The place was well organized and clean. Everyone loved the catio to be able to interact with the cats in a more natural environment. If looking to adopt this would be a great place to check out.

I cannot recommend Berea ARF for the following reasons. Most rescues and shelters allow you to walk…read morein and browse the selection of cats and dogs. Most places have friendly and helpful staff to assist you in choosing the right potential pet. Unfortunately, Berea ARF is NOT like most places. As a pet owner for most of my life (I'm 68 years old), I've never had any issues with adopting my pets. The staff at Berea ARF are rude, arrogant, and condescending. Their policies are questionable. Our two encounters with them resulted in our being placed on a blacklist - we are now banned from adopting from them. The first incident was a miscommunication regarding declawing - we told the counselor that we did indeed have prior cats declawed, but we no longer adhered to that choice. He took it to mean we were going to declaw any future cat. After going on and on about the effects of declawing (yes, we got it the first time he mentioned it), we left without adopting a kitten. Upon returning the next day to adopt a kitten we fell in love with, we had to assure the staff we had no intention of declawing. That night, while playing with the new kitten, my wife suffered a severe allergic reaction; her eyes swelled shut, and she had difficulty breathing. While this had never happened with any previous cats, we had no choice but to return the kitten. I returned her the next day, along with the new toys we had bought for her. No refund on the adoption fee of $140. Fast forward 4 weeks - we had since adopted another kitten Aja, a gorgeous Himalayan/Siamese mix, a breed we made sure caused no allergic reactions. We decided to get Aja a playmate and found a Siamese kitten on Berea ARF's site. After checking in with the receptionist, the shelter manager, Kymber, informed us of the ban on us adopting any pet. We are done with Berea ARF.!

I feel secure here as I am a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. I was treated way better here than anywhere else.

I was encouraged to play with the fur babies. And when we decided on a bonded pair of senior brothers who look more bovine than feline, WE were the ones treated like rock stars. Being able to get nearly all the essentials there with a teeny-tiny price tag was a sigh of relief and that money goes back into the shelter, too. If you or your charges have sensory issues, I would recommend ear protection as it does get loud, but that's just par for the course at nearly all shelters. This place is the real deal!

My Dobermans have been therapy dogs, scent dogs, tricks dogs and competition obedience dogs.. not all of them have been the same. I then pursued another Doberman with another rescue to see if it would work because they didn't know anything about the dog. In the middle of this, they contacted me to say they may have made a mistake .. I said I was involved in this now and I have to follow through. Unfortunately the dog did not work out .. I messaged them last Thursday and was told that they were open for adoption and that I was approved as the email stated.. messaged them on Friday to tell them I was coming on Monday to see the dog and then was told someone else just got approved and was coming to see the dog. I was told they held the dog for me and I said that's good because you were the reason I didn't come to begin with. You get no response when you ask whoever runs the place to call you.. I would not recommend this service to anyone!
