My partner had a Friday off today & it happens to be a Friday the 13th so we stopped in after looking at their social media promoting flash tattoos today. The shop opened at noon & we arrived at 12:20. I was extra intrigued that 13% goes to local harm reduction programs, from their Instagram posts, so it seemed like a good idea. We didn't expect to be immediately given service or anything but wanted more details on who would be available today. When we walked in, we said hello to the man at the front desk & said happy Friday - to no response, not even a hello. So I awkwardly started looking at the flash artwork since I felt like we weren't welcome. My boyfriend asked very politely if there were any artists available today & he responded very bluntly that only two artists were available for the day. He didn't offer any options for their artwork & didn't provide any other details beyond that. So when I asked if the flash artwork I was looking at was available & he again, very rudely said "these two artists are the only ones available today".... Again, while offering no other details or even giving us the option to make an appointment. It was extremely confusing bec he didn't seem to want to give us any information beyond that - like I'd like to see the artwork of the artists that are available then?? I felt VERY awkward, unwelcome & uncomfortable so we left. Probably won't come back despite some of the flash artwork from Sam & Mira looked really cool. Unfortunately the lack of hospitality from the front desk made it one of the shortest & most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had in a tattoo shop. No needles were even involved. read more

I've I've personally known Danny Ross and been familiar with his shop for almost decade. He runs one of the oldest shops in Phoenix, with incredibly high standards for keeping the shop clean and having other super talented artists on sight for walk-ins.. Having been a tattoo model in the industry, I have to say he is not the stereotype!!! A few years ago I started reworking all my bad tattoos, starting with this zombie pinup I'd gotten years ago. Not only was she incredibly messed up but it was in my worst spot! Well, the end result was gorgeous! I love the colors, how he restyled her look, gave her a beautiful expression and now you can actually tell she's a corpse! Danny really listened to me and I loved her so much, I also had him draw a custom carousel horse for my other calf. Came in at 7pm on Friday the 13th to take advantage of the flash tattoo deal that was being offered. Upon entering and speaking to the staff at the front desk, was informed that there was about a 3.5 hour wait, filled out the release information and was then informed that the shop would be calling when there were 2-3 people in front of us. Called again around 12am to check on the status and was informed that there were 4 people ahead of us. Showed up to the tattoo shop shortly after 1am and was rudely told that "it's past 1 everyone left". It was explicitly mentioned that we were allowed to leave and that we would be called when it was time. Was also explicitly told that they would "tattoo until everyone on the list was done". Will not be coming back in the future. This company did not uphold what they promised, and were extremely rude and off putting. read more

Primo completed three smaller sized tattoos a few weeks ago and they've healed BEAUTIFULLY! He is literally the best tattoo artist I've ever had. He's so patient, efficient, and genuinely nice. WORST tattoo I've ever had! Met these guys at a tattoo convention in LA. They appeared to know what they were talking about & doing, but nothing could be farther from the truth. The lines weren't straight, the colors were not what I wanted, and somehow the final price was not what we spoke about. Basically, I got the tatt covered up over 3 more sessions with an artist I know & trust, and to say the least, I learned my lesson the hard way. Make sure you know who your dealing w/before you make a perminent decision such as a tattoo. Their name says it all, you'll either love or hate this place. I couldn't HATE it more if I tried... This is my first yelp review ever and I'm writing to give credit where it is due. Recently got a GREAT custom tattoo from Danny Ross. I came in with some reference materials and he ran with it, freehanding most of the tattoo right on my back. I was flexible with some design aspects but he was really good at taking my input and making sure I got my "must-have's" in the piece. Tattoo took four sessions and I tipped well, so it wound up costing a little more than I anticipated. But ultimately worth every penny. I was visiting AZ for my sisters bachelorette party and we (group of 4) wanted to get tattoos last minute. We called a bunch of places and finally we decided because of Pete. My sister called and talked to him on the phone and after seeing pictures of his work, we were sold. He was SO accommodating and so helpful. We had little changes here and there and he didn't get upset or annoyed. He wanted to make sure he got it exactly how we wanted while still being upfront about placement, sizing, and what he as an artist was willing to do to ensure we could have the best possible outcome. We got matching birth flower tattoos for our kids and he helped guide us while still following exactly what we wanted. All of us left so happy with our tattoos. I highly highly recommend him ESPECIALLY for American traditional. He's got beautiful work, clean lines, and a great attitude. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Arizona. I told myself I was going to wait at least a week to review Love and Hate Tattoo Parlor. Let my new tattoo heal up and show it off a little. Besides, it was just last night after work that I'd gotten my new ink. Alas, it appears my self-discipline is at an all time low, and less than 24 hours after walking out of L&H, here I am on Yelp. Sharing the love. Because, honestly, there's nothing I could think about hating on with this tattoo parlor. The time line that brought me to this point is rather lengthy. A little over a month ago, I rolled out of work early, caught a movie then decided I wanted to get my third tattoo. After finding some tats online, I decided I would follow through with it. A quick Yelp search directed me to L&H. When I showed what I wanted to have done and where on my body, the guy at the desk quickly grabbed one of the artist's portfolios, flipped through and showed me one of the exact same tattoos I saw online (but not cross referenced with L&H). Instantly, I knew this artist *had* to be the one to do this for me. However, with my work schedule and his availability, June 21 was the soonest I could make an appointment. In the month that followed, I started explaining to my friends what I envisioned and each of them appeared just as eager as myself to see the end results. Fast forward to last night, and Eric is referencing color copies of bacon and another tattoo from which I generated my initial concept, while using colored markers to sketch out how the basic tattoo will turn out. Honestly, at this point I would have been happy with just the marker tattoo (although I'm sure Eric would grow tired of me coming back every other day to have it redrawn). After a quick run through to outline where each color would be, Eric then moved on to the actual filling in. Throughout the two hour process, other artists who heard about this custom tattoo checked out the progress. By the time Eric completed his work, I sported one of the most unique and personalized tattoos I've ever seen. Even as it's wrapped in saran wrap to help the colors settle, I keep looking at it, admiring what will soon become my signature ink. Meanwhile, earlier this morning I sent out photos I took with my phone halfway through the process to a few of my coworkers. A few years back I went for an L.A. dodgers sign. They charged me around $70. The guy showed me the design on paper and I said it was ok just to have it outlined and then pepper shade on the outside. When he was done it wasn't what he showed me. I remember him telling me "hey if you need a touch up or fix come back" wtf? lol why would you need to redo it unless you f****d up. I left and went back to L.A. I come back and forth between phoenix and L.A. Today I found the place and went to talk to them to fix it or give me my money back. I don't care if it was a long time ago. The guy says there's a new owner and he doesn't remember a guy with the description I gave him. To fix the tattoo they f****d up in the first place was going to cost me $130. No thanks..I rather go to West Side Tattoos. I recommend them especially for black and grey urban style tattoos. This is the ONLY place I get tattooed. Over the past 14 months, I've been getting tattooed by the amazing Meg McNiel. When I say amazing, I mean amazing! We initially started with a half-sleeve on my right arm, however I was so quickly impressed that this progressed into a whole right arm sleeve, and now yet another sleeve on my left arm. I am there so often that I joke L&H is my "home away from home". That is, the home where I get all sorts of radness hooked up! I get stopped constantly (e.g. grocery stores, doctors office, seriously the barista at Starbucks made 6 people in line) asking where I get my awesome ink at. Go get tattooed here, no matter what kind of style you're looking for they have someone there who can meet (and will no doubt *exceed*) your needs. The shop is always clean and friendly, and there is always someone there willing to help and answer and questions.I've also had both my tragus pierced here (I took a friend with me and she had both anti-tragus done) by John Vitez and we both left happy. A very good friend of mine also recently had a fantastic portrait done by Danny Ross. Several other tattoo shops turned this tattoo down saying it "wasn't possible to tattoo". Their most recent addition to their tattoo artist roster is Mike Bergfalk. He is currently tattooing my wifes entire arm with the most Ernst Haeckel jellyfish and coral. His line work is some of the best i have seen and his colors are bright and brilliantly shaded. He has also tattooed my side with a very large Greg Simkins sketch. Very good at seeing the little things and imagining the vision when you give him an idea. Will be going back very soon to finish my half sleeve of Icons. I got a tattoo from Danny Ross and he is the most talented, yet humble, artist I have ever met. I am very specific on size, color, script, and I wanted my roses to look realistic. Walked in without an appointment on a Thursday and with my own design and walked out a couple hours later with a lovely new scroll work around my forearm by Tony (who had some excellent tunes on shuffle btw). The shop is relaxed. Staff was friendly and unpretentious. They have all the artist portfolio's up front for you to browse through. They had a tv in the waiting room and lots of tattoo magazines and the like as well as some tattoo flash, body jewelry, and merchandise to look through. I felt very comfortable from beginning to end and as a result would recommend the shop and artist to my friends. I'll be returning for more ink soon. read more

Meg is a no-bull artist which is exactly what I needed. I had a bad tattoo and she fixed it. I won't go into what all she had to do but it was her way or the highway...a bit scary but the results rocked. Now I have learned when she tells me what will and won't look good....I don't hesitate. Both of my tattoos were done here so I don't have experience with other tattoo parlours, as an FYI. My first is on my left forearm and was done by Christopher Robin. Anyway, I brought in the design and he was super nice and made sure I was comfortable, as it was my first tattoo. My mother got her first right after and he designed it in 5 minutes and it looks awesome. Very professional, clean, had a light hand, and recommended. My second tattoo was larger and a little more complicated, on the left side of my lower back. Sadly, I don't remember the guys name but he was also really nice and made sure I was ok in the areas the tattoo really hurt. Also very clean and professional with a light hand. One of the best and most artistic shops in The Valley, everyone here is great and actually know a lot about art in general which helps a lot with the creative process. Everyone here is amazing at what they do, Danny Ross (the owner) did my work and he has some awesome talent. Absolutely phenomenal experience. Had my ear lobes pierced (at an 8 gauge) by Torin. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of my questions. He used freaking calipers to make sure he had centered the marks before piercing! I would highly recommend for any of your piercing needs.
