I am extremely disappointed in the unprofessional services I purchased from Old town Ink and Bubba. I feel totally F%$!ed over and I've wasted time and money with this. In 2025 I was scheduled for a tattoo appointment to do the inside of the arm sleeve for over 3k. The first set of issues was multiple reschedules between myself, Bubba's Manager Matt and Bubba. I missed several days of work and pay because of these "less than 24 hour cancelations" and reschedules. Once a a date was accomplished for the service the tattoo was left incomplete with shading missing in several parts of the tattoo. It is obvious the moment you see it. This was fine at first as Bubba guaranteed that he would finish in the 3 weeks following the first healing process. He asked me to call him directly to schedule, seeing as there were already issues with this in the beginning. I called several times with no answer and only reaching Bubba once with no appropriate schedule in the books. I sent out several emails over the course of an entire year with no responses save one unprofessional comment. I have kept things very respectful and professional and I didn't get what I paid for.... still to this day. read more

Phenomenal experience with Edward Madison - can't wait to schedule my next appointment with him. My husband and I first found Old Town Ink on Instagram and saw that during Friday the 13th they would be doing flash tattoos so we headed down to be the first ones at the shop. That Saturday we headed to the shop to get some flash tattoos and Edward was the first to greet us. When talking to him and to another artist we could tell the night before had been a hell of a day and that getting something flash but with a custom twist likely wasn't going to happen - we were a little disappointed but Edward never broke great customer service. He was kind, helpful and honest which we appreciated. We headed home but about a week later I reached back out to book. Edward has a seamless and direct way to book with him and made me feel comfortable about booking from the beginning. He definitely fits the vibe check - he is an artist in his heart and enjoys what he does which is exactly what you want. He is self taught but extremely passionate and detailed. He wants you to be comfortable during your session and makes sure to check on you throughout. My session with him was about 5/6 hours and honestly he has the best hand that has ever tattooed me. He is gentle, makes conversation but not too much, makes sure the music fits your vibe (most appreciate this), and has the sugary sweets ready incase you need them. Old town ink has been around a while and over the years has had great artists. The owner of the shop is a world renowned tattoo artist who has one televised competitions. It's a simple shop but it's decently priced and the artists are generally friendly. It's a tattoo shop it's very casual, but it's also a business so they're on top of things. I've gotten tattoos here and they're honest about what they're doing they'll fix something if they make a mistake and they listen to what you want. Out of the 7 tattoos I now have, I've only gone to one place twice. That is now thankfully all over, thanks to Old Town Ink, specifically Matthew. From the email process until the finished product, he was the most patient artist I've ever worked with and frankly, the most talented. He has been getting into more single-needle work recently and I took a chance on him after seeing his work on Instagram. I am over the moon that I did. He booked an appointment for myself and two of my other friends on the same hour and a week later, we are all still gushing over how beautiful they all turned out. As soon as I walked in for our appointment, he had already designed mine based off the photos I had emailed him, and it was more than I could've imagined. There aren't many artist that do single-needle work here in AZ, specially ones that actually enjoy it and don't think it's a waste of time. I found old town by chance when looking for reputable tattoo shops and top artists in Arizona. Bubba Irwin kept coming up and taking a look at his work, I can see why. He has a keen eye for realism and his talent is phenomenal. Some of his pieces look like actual photos painted onto the skin! The shop itself is located in old town. Parking, thankfully, is pretty easy. Very clean looking shop and friendly staff. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. When I started the appointment process, I called and was asked to come in the following day. The shop assistant was so nice and we went over my idea and what I was looking forward to in detail prior to setting a date. Bubba's a busy guy and is in high demand so my wait time was almost a year but it was SO worth it. The night prior to my appointment, I spoke with Bubba at length about the design, placement, and what my expectations were. This piece took one full day and another appointment for a small touch up. I was so excited to get a tattoo at this place, the reviews were so impressive. However, we walked into old town ink and were approached by a man working there. He asked me to please show him the tattoo I wanted saying it wouldn't be a problem. The Wi-Fi doesn't work so it took me a few minutes to pul to the picture. Once I finally had the picture pulled up he said he was so sorry it would be another hour and a half because he was currently in the middle of doing a tattoo; we couldn't wait so we left. I got my first tattoo with who I think was Glen. He was great sizing and placing what I wanted. He warned me of the quick fading of a finger tattoo and suggested other spots and other ways to place it to reduce fading, but I was set with what I wanted. Only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is for the price. I understand fingers aren't super easy to tattoo on, but this was so simple so i was expecting cheaper than $100. This was my 4th Tattoo. I got my first tattoo at Zebra Tattoo in Berkeley, CA. second in NYC, third was at Recycle Tattoo in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) City, Vietnam. Just had a day long sitting with Bubba Irwin at Old Town Ink and by far the best experience. First of all, the shop location in Mesa is connected to a great coffee shop (Buddha's Brew). Great vibe. The shop itself is clean and very open and well outfitted (pic below). Had a chat about concept (pic below) and Bubba took it and ran with it. He started with an actual skull (plastic 3D skull) and took it into his lighted photo booth/studio to get lighting and angle right, used it as a template, then added the butterfly and smoke elements. Nailed the design and then after a couple of passes to get alignment perfect we got down to business. A total of about 8hrs from design to completion. We had a great conversation along the way, shared some of our favorite musical artists (Bubba and his daughter are both musicians) and influences and got to talking about movies, families and the like. If you're looking for a crooked tattoo even after mentioning your concern about the stencil being crooked to the artist .... then this is the place for you! My tattoo was done palm facing up. As in it should be straight when done. and I completely understand it moves when I put my arm back down. But as you can see in the pic the tattoo clearly dips in the middle and I hate it. Uneven. Don't even know the artists name but it was a woman with purple hair. Idk if it has anything to do with the fact that I was a walk-in on a Friday and she mentioned she usually has fridays off. Seemed very impatient and instead of placing the stencil again when I said it looked crooked, she brushed it off and said my arm moves. Like ??????? It obviously needs to be straight when presented.
