Came here for first Friday and got a horrible tattoo and not good service. My tattoo artist was playing a video game (valorant) the whole time as I was just walking in. I was telling him my idea while he was killing people in the game. In my gut I knew I should have left but made sense why he had his own walk in corner maybe because he wasn't as skilled. I wanted to a fine line humming bird and that is not what I received. My tattoo is blown out and it's the only tattoo I regret getting. Beware coming here on first Friday. read more

I'm very unimpressed with how the staff act professionally. They are very unprofessional and act very judgy at tattoo request. Also, it's clear that some of the staff are not professional trained and are very poor at their job, specially the blond guy. The mood in the shop is very shady and just a weird vide to it. I was very uneasy while getting my tattoo, and to be quite honest I don't think I'll ever come again. For reference, the tattoo they gave me was arguable worst then a stick on one. The color was so bad and faded and they made the tattoo saggy on my skin. I've had many tattoos done on me, but this one was by far the worst! She said It was a day of first timers, as there were 2 ppl in front of me that were getting tattoos for the first time too. I've written a review for my tattoo shop before, but it was not accepted as it was too well written. At least I told that to myself. I'm nearing the completion of my second sleeve by Kyle and to say I am pleased is an understatement. My first sleeve was completed by Honest Bob. He tattoos in a very OCD manor where it is section by section in a methodical process. Very exact. Kyle has more of a scatter plot style and my Japanese based Star Wars sleeve, complete with a original Samurai Darth Vader, Emperor, and a shogun style Darth Maul is a real conversation piece. It's like loading a jpeg on a very slow Internet connection where it slowly resolves with each pass. That is his style. The front office is amazing and Kenzie is very efficient with scheduling and payment. Each visit is signified by a new hair color and an authentic smile. Note: while sitting for hours in searing pain having an out of body experience as my elbow is tattooed over and over again, I hear many people come in to inquire on a tattoo. For all that is good and holy please know what you want. Know that anything over an hour or two in total length most likely has to be scheduled MONTHS in advance. They are that busy. Each sleeve has taken about a year, three to five hours at a time. One artist which you will know by his split tongue does great flash work and custom smaller tattoos and mostly does walk ins. If you have a long project, make an appointment and be prepared for a commitment. Photos to come. read more

Highly recommend! Their website says "We're nice" and that couldn't be more true! I was in town for 2 days visiting my son and we decided to do something spontaneous and fun at the last minute. Jason and "The Professor" were not only super friendly and professional but very accommodating in fitting us in at the end of the day without an appointment and helping us with tattoo design to bring our ideas to life. The shop is clean and comfortable with a really nice artistic vibe and the front desk staff was very welcoming and professional as well. Whole experience could not have been better. The fine line work Jason did on my ankle tattoo is so clean and precise. Have already had tons of compliments on it and refer all to Golden Rule. As someone who's been to multiple tattoo shops, this shop is the gold standard. It's kept super clean, it's open and airy. The artists can all see and talk to each other which is both fun and efficient. Even the people who run the desk are fantastic and fun and kind. I don't have everyone's name because I'm awful with names, but you cannot find a single unfriendly person working in this shop. They are ALL fantastic. I would also like to talk about the Artist who did my artwork. John Swartz. He is one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet, he obviously loves what he does and he loves to spread positivity. He makes sure that everyone knows his station is a safe place. Some people have this thought that tattoo artists in general are off putting and scary, but John takes the cake for nicest most welcoming tattoo artist I've ever met. I got my first tattoo from Wyatt. He was super nice and walked me through the process. He told me my design needed to be bigger to avoid blow out. I didn't care, what do you know. I got blow out. I should have listened to his professional advice. Good news is that I am able to have free touch ups with this shop. I went to him again for my second tattoo and it is soooooo fresh! The line work is amazing! I'm impressed. He retouched my first tattoo as well in the same appointment. At first I was upset with my second tattoo because my appointment was at five and everything was running behind, so I ended up waiting another hour and a half before even being told I was next. This is not how Wyatt rolls, and for that reason he gave me my tattoo on the house to apologize for the time that I spent waiting. Now that is putting the customer first. I will come back to golden rule and Wyatt again. Also, looking into brown ink tattoos, no one in the shop specializes in it so they recommended other artists at other shops. They care about me getting the best work, even if that means they don't get the job. I admire that. read more

For a 100+ dollar tattoo, I would've thought the artist could have done a more consistent job. I got mine done months ago, and while I wanted to love it so badly, I've been asked if it's infected like five times since I got it. I got my tattoo in July, and one side is raised and thick while the other is flat and consistent. This was my first tattoo, and I was already having commitment issues with the idea of having one, so I thought i would just get it over with. I felt him go TOO hard on the side that is still raised to this day, and now I'm worried and anxious that it will stay like that forever. It feels like a permanent, raised scar-- it's likely a keloid that won't go away. The line is thick and doesn't match the other one. It just makes me upset because he charged my friend 100 for a more complicated tattoo that was done perfectly, but my basic tattoo (done in like five-ten minutes) couldn't be done in a patient and gentle manner. I thought he was a great person though, this is solely speaking on the work and my frustrations. I wouldn't shy away from trying this place out, just make your intentions clear before going into it. The front desk staff is also extremely sweet and nice. The tattoo shop itself is very clean and has a chill vibe. read more

I've had nothing but excellent experiences here at Golden rule tattoo. I have only been tattooed by John, but both times I have been in for some work by him, I've Had great outcomes! My first piece by him was a Fibonacci symbol on my Forearm, with only line work. It came out great & I get tons of compliments on it, even 2+ years later. The second piece I had done was a larger thigh piece, a portrait of Tyler Durden (fight club). It took about 4.5 hours & was done a few weeks ago. It came out so clean! It looks great! I get compliments ALL THE TIME over it! Even during a pandemic, John make sure to make me feel comfortable, educated, and keep everything sanitary. The entire shop has done an excellent job at their new space, everything was spotless, smelled clean, and had plenty a room for everyone to be socially distant. If you're looking to get some work done, consult some of their artists see who can do the best job for what you're looking for. After months of searching for a tattoo artist, Rockey was the only one that responded to my email and set up a consultation with me. Everyone in the shop is nice and it smells / looks very clean, which is nice to see during these times. They are exceptionally flexible for appointment hours and prices are very reasonable and expected. Since my initial visit in October I have been in four times and am pleased with every visit and every result. For one of the scheduled appointments Rockey was unable to hold our appointment and the staff handled it very professionally. We were informed and given the option to reschedule or work with a different artist. My friends and I opted to work with a different artist and we all enjoyed Evan as well!
