This seems to be a healthy gluten-free bakery. Not much of a selection at all. I was truly disappointed. I have been there twice. If you're looking for healthy options I suppose then go there. Enjoyed our visit to Love Heart's bakery. The coffee was hot and there was a choice of light, medium and dark roast as well as decaf. The baked goods were numerous and included many gluten free selections. Their sandwich menu was extensive but had already had lunch. The staff was very accommodating and extremely friendly. Quaint, cute little hidden gem in the Litchfield-Bantam area. This place is great! They offer breakfast and lunch with a variety of fresh baked goodies! From breakfast bowls to omelettes to egg sandwiches you can choose from their menu or make your own creation. They also have lattes, cappuccino, coffee, iced coffee, tea.. anything you'd like! I had a cappuccino and a bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel and both were delicious. Fresh, made to order, and totally hit the spot on a beautiful Sunday morning after a workout. I imagine their lunch is great too- I saw some of their soups and prepared tuna salad and some to-go salads. Everything looked delicious. Try this place! They are wonderful. read more

Man, I want to to this place. I really do. Bakeries are like unicorns and faeries and everything magical I find delightful in this world. Enhanced by the fact this bakery has the most wonderful name, you'd expect to enter and experience utter joy and delight. Instead, your energy expectations drop down dramatically once you enter thru the door. It's a weird layout where you're greeted with standard old dining tables and other patrons chowing down on their food. You've gotta look around for the baked goods and once you find the case, you're greeted with Saran wrapped goods. This past visit was the first time I even saw the sign saying those were samples and more were available in the cooler. It's so unappealing! Then, on each visit I've been greeted by low energy staff who simply are not in alignment with the name of the bakery. Total bummer. Ick. Kudos to having lots of gluten free options however and I did buy a paleo treat I gobbled dropping crumbs all over the Porsche between there and New Preston. This past visit was my last. Life is too short to waste on half hearted baked goods. :-( read more

We come at least once a week for breakfast and everyone especially Allie is so nice and welcoming. The food is always so fresh and delicious. They are always so kind to my daughter and always save her a 'vanilla muffin' i.e. dirty girl bomb. I absolutely love the hot old fashioned oatmeal or the yogurt parfait with fresh fruit. Just a quick update ... we haven't changed our mind about how delightful we continue to find this bakery's products. We just wanted to add a word on behalf of the gazpacho, which is sooooo tomatoey and spicy yummy. It's a treat to be relished (pun intended). We think the interior is pleasantly casual and a good spot to say hi to friendly faces. I needed a birthday cake. It had to be vegan and gluten free. So I called Love Hearts bakery and asked if they can make that kind. They did. I asked if they could make it in a days notice. I stopped by for lunch today, not having been since they formally took over Chowderhead's. It's very much, with lots of tempting items. I had the turkey panini with pesto and mozzarella. The sandwich was apparently made ahead of time, so they kindly picked off the tomato for me. The sandwich held up very well over the two additional stops to get home, and was tasty. At $6.50, not a bad price in this area. I wish I worked nearby; it would be fun place to stop in for lunch regularly! It's decorated with a personal touch, on the eclectic side, and I feel like I'll see something new every time I go in. All the salt and pepper shakers are different, I loved the pigs! For the fans for the former Chowederheads, the New England Clam Chowder is still there, along with a few other varieties of soup. When I visited this deli/bakery today for lunch, I witnessed my sandwiches being made in an unsanitary way by very unmotivated/lackadaisical servers. The food preparers did not where gloves. They handled the food after handling money from various customers. I witnessed the young woman wipe her nose with the back of her hand as she prepared a customer's food. The young man handling my bread with bare hands waived it around in a hand gestures as he prepared my sandwich. I normally try not to watch people prepare my food so I don't see something I don't want to see. I violated my rule this time. Normally I can get past this sort of thing. This time I couldn't for some reason, maybe the bare hand wiping the nose, so I disposed of the sandwiches in the garbage when I got home. read more

My wife and I were out driving around the Litchfield hills this past weekend and stumbled across this bakery. They were just about the close for the day, but we were able to grab a few things out their case. Everything we got was fantasitic. We lived near Amish country in Pennsylvania for years and got hooked on good homemade pretzles. The one's from Love Heart's are fantasic. We also had a fantastic molasses cookie and a great peanut butter vanilla cupcake. I get the feeling the everything here is top notch. The bakery is attached to a small cafe. The cafe is closed on Sundays, but we were able to grab some delicous cajun shrimp salad from the cafe side to make ourselves feel not as guity for overloading on treats. If you are out cruising on the weekend and want a quick lunch or something for your sweet tooth, you should make it a point to find this place. read more

I'm local to the area & as a mom of a crew team member, I'm at Litchfield Town Beach daily so I'm rooting for this place. Food is very good and as a vegetarian, I really appreciate the variety of fresh options. Of the dozen times I've been to Love Hearts I've had several experiences of curt service similar to a previous Yelper - work on the warmth ladies, I WANT to recommend you to my friends!! To Love Hearts credit, they donated two beautiful trays of delicious cookies to our local high school graduation which was very generous. The prices are a touch high for the portion size, I agree. But my family owns a food production company and the public may not be aware of recent wholesale spikes across the board in the industry - we are talking 200% increases in six months, so I can relate. But... Do something to offset those price pinches - make customers enjoy the visit so much, they don't mind the cost! Finally, the space is very clean & cute. My Mandarin chicken salad was just ok, the dressing was too oily and there wasn't enough acidity or flavour to it. There were barley any oranges or almonds in it. The portion size for what you pay is silly. Tiny little salad, which is more like a side salad then a meal. The person behind the counter at the deli was not very friendly and seemed annoyed by my questions of what was in the salad since there were no descriptions. She asked if my order was to go and I said no, she clearly wasn't listening to me, since she packed up my salad to go and asked me if I needed utensils. The store wasn't busy so it's not like she was overwhelmed with customers, maybe you need to be a regular to get service with a smile, because the customer before and after me seemed to be treated a little nicer. I really enjoy the food options here and everything I've tried has been great. But I have a few things that bother me and keep me away. The coffee urns are frequently close to empty and when they are switched out with a new urn the coffee is never hot. Same with the soup. Another thing that bothers me is that I don't really get a welcoming feeling when I enter. I always feel like I'm bothering or interrupting their work. The only person who was genuinely friendly and welcoming was the older daughter but she moved out of state. Love hearts is such a cool place with great food but lately it's been a stop Ive avoided for the above reasons. I love this place and go as often as I can. I disagree with what another yelper said about portion size vs. price. In fact, I'm a big guy and I think it's one of the few lunch places in the area I consistently come away with a full stomach for under $10. The salads are good (the chicken salads can be dry) but the strength of the place is its soups and baked goods, which are extraordinary. The bakery always has something sweet to eat even if you're gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. (I had vegan birthday cake recently that was out of this world.) And the soup shop puts together amazing and creative soups -- always on offer are their NE Clam Chowder and Not-Quite-Redhead Chili and also a vegetarian chili I think. But then in addition, multiple soup specials rotate daily... these could be anything from traditional soups like muligatawny and avgolemeno to experimental concoctions like white bean rosemary or sausage kale soup. There's always gluten free, vegetarian and vegan soup options available, and cold soups in the summer. The atmosphere is a little bit of controlled chaos, which is charming. If you eat in on a crowded day you may find yourself elbow to elbow with strangers -- or even sharing a table with someone you don't know. (But new friends are a good thing, right?) The staff are friendly and love to talk about what makes their food so good. The charm of the place elevates it from a good soup shop and bakery to a dose of gustatory therapy in the middle of a rough work day... and nudges my 4 stars to 5. read more

I've been here a few times, it is convenient place in the area to meet for coffee and a little lunch. I always like to start out feedback was positive things so here I go... That outside of the building is cute in the Cove Between Litchfield and Bantam. Parking is easy. In my experience the people who work here are nice. It's counter service there is no table service. There are two areas to it including one with a couch for relaxing and The other with small tables and chairs. SpaceThe people work here are nice, mostly younger folks, but they do you lack experience and service skills. The interior layout is a little confusing. There is a whole area which I believe is supposed to be a coffee bar, but it isn't and it has no clear purpose. They should use that specifically for coffee that is served to you, so you don't have to wait in line amongst other people who are ordering food. When you do wait in line for coffee, you simply pay for it and then go to the self-service coffee area. I know this is a little thing, but the fridge they have to store creamer and milk has a limited selection meaning it doesn't have half-and-half, and 50% of the time the containers are empty . To pour your own coffee, there's a map of the five different types of coffee, it's not necessary they should just Label the canisters. The times I have ordered food, it was fine but it is wildly expensive for what you get. The desert selection in the case just looks sad, it has one example of what the desert is. Ordering process is confusing you can't tell who's in line and who's waiting to get their food. It needs to be tightened up. It is just too laid back. On another note, the bathroom is horrible. To sum it up, I think this is a perfect example of someone wanting to open a coffee shop because it would be fun and hip, but never taking into consideration what the end-user wants which is efficiency cleanliness organization and reasonably priced food. I recently spent about five dollars for a small cup of soup, Served in a plastic container when I did not request it to be a to go meal. Love hearts has the bones to be a good place, but it needs to improve on some basic fundamental aspects of operating a sound coffee shop. It's worth checking out, and there is outdoor seating on the side which is lovely on a nice day. read more

Stumbled upon this little bakery on our trip back home to MA. The food was really fresh and service was quick. We both ordered breakfast sandwiches & the quality of the english muffin & bagel that they were served on was really impressive.
