As vegan travelers, it is often challenging to find food that is both filling and flavorful. To our delight, we discovered Love It Vegan while visiting Torrington for a wedding. We stopped in on our very first day for a late lunch and tried a variety of items, including the chowder, Caesar salad, fried oyster mushrooms, sandwiches, and a fresh juice. Everything was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, generous, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Coming from the Bay Area, we also found the prices very reasonable. The staff and owner were warm and welcoming, and we loved seeing photos of animals from local sanctuaries displayed throughout the restaurant. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we ordered breakfast from Love It Vegan on the next two mornings. The omelets were hearty and delicious, and the home fries were perfectly crispy and well seasoned--no ketchup or sauce needed. Love It Vegan is truly a gem. Whether you're vegan or simply looking for a great meal, this place is well worth a visit. We decided to go to Love it Vegan before a show at The Warner (it is directly across the street) and were absolutely thrilled with our meal! My husband and I are not vegan, but I am seriously lactose intolerant and limit animal products for health reasons. We brought my brother-in-law who has a serious dairy allergy. The staff was amazing. You felt welcome the second you sat down. They were so kind to my brother-in-law (who has special needs) and happily explained and accommodated him without a second thought. It's beyond comforting to have an entire menu we don't have to worry will cause an allergic reaction. The food was excellent. As I said, we are not vegan, but we will be returning time and time again. The honey mustard and fries may be my new favorite comfort food. They were perfection! I had the steak and cheese and it was in awe of the flavor AND a great cheese on top. The strawberry cupcake I would get a million more times. Simple and sweet. The restaurant collaborated with JP Farm Sanctuary so you can see the pictures of their animals hanging around the restaurant. There is also local art. Very impressed. 2 words: Eat here! We swooped in out of nowhere with a party of 8. What a great find. We had 2 pescatarian/vegans and 6 omnivores + one tree nut allergy. Everyone was so so happy. Delicious juice blends to start. Amazing buffalo cauliflower - our server said it was the best and we agree! Not the soggy, dough-laden stuff you normally get. Crisp and light and wonderful buffalo sauce. Fried oyster mushrooms - great! We had a mix of sandwiches - all great! French fries - so good! Chocolate peanut butter pie - fantastic! Delicious food and friendly, knowledgeable staff. I had the 3-egg scramble with veggies. It came with fried potatoes that were perfect, crispy outside and fluffy inside. I chose the excellent sourdough toast. I added some hot sauce to the scrambled eggs. Sooo good The drinks are self-serve, and the iced unsweeted tea was just right, not too strong, not too watered-down. Even though I'm just visiting from Florida (and 'm not vegan!) I honestly enjoyed this meal very much and would come back here again if I lived here, or next time I'm in town. Last, but not least, I split a gluten-free blueberry muffin. We had someone with a gluten allergy in our party, and they not only had good gluten-free toast, but I also loved the muffin, which was soft, not dry, and even a little spongy, in a good way! One of the only restaurants that truly gives a damn about its customers! Before I start: don't let the word "vegan" turn you off! You don't have to be a vegan or vegetarian to enjoy their food! If you love great food, great atmosphere, great service and great everything, this is your place to be! My personal favorite is the "steak" and cheese omelette - always tasty, always great to eat whenever you want. But they serve much more than that - they have fresh salads, sandwiches, baked goods (which are ALL made at the restaurant), pasta dishes, fresh smoothies, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. The atmosphere in the restaurant is extraordinarily fun - with game nights, queer community craft fairs, and all sorts of special events! Amy and Pedro put a lot of hard work and time into their food and into this restaurant - and it is one of the best, if not the best, in Northwestern Connecticut. Our favorite local restaurant. Delicious, delightful food, a very friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere for the whole family. Our favorite menu items are the "steak and cheese" grinder, the loaded fries, the buffalo cauliflower, the "bacon egg and cheese" sandwich, and the French toast (our toddler loves it). The house made seitan and rice paper bacon are real standouts - amazing! While we have our tried and true favorites, everything we have tried from the menu has been delicious. All of the desserts are excellent and the rotating specials list also has great stuff on it. I was anticipating the opening of Love It Vegan for weeks, and all I can say is that it was worth the wait. It's so nice to see pages of vegan menu items, plus daily specials. I came here for a quick to go lunch for my first visit. I had the steak and cheese with home fries and was thankfully convinced to include a piece of the chocolate- peanut butter pie. Both were very delicious. The sandwich was every bit as what you'd expect from a greasy (good greasy) steak and cheese sandwich. The pie was outstanding and you'd never guess it was vegan. While planning our road trip to Terryville, Connecticut from the Midwest, I stumbled upon Love It Vegan and was ecstatic to find this gem just 20 minutes away from where we were spending the next week! The inside is bright, open, and inviting with pictures on the wall of animals from a nearby sanctuary, lots of reading material on a small bookshelf (vegan- and ghost-related!), and even board games to play while you wait for your food. (They just started a weekly game night and keep the games out for customers during the week.) We ended up visiting twice before heading out of state. Our servers were helpful and friendly, and our orders came out in about fifteen minutes each time. Among the three of us and over our two visits a few days apart, we tried the pancakes, home fries, steak and cheese grinder, ham and cheese sandwich, oyster mushroom po'boy, chickpea tuna melt, scrambled egg, the three-veggie omelet, and the shake special of the week - chocolate covered strawberry! OMG! The shake was absolutely beautiful and tasted divine, and the home fries were the best that I've had anywhere. My son absolutely loved the steak and cheese grinder and devoured it so quickly that I didn't even get to try a bite! o.O The ham and cheese sandwich was delicious, and the chickpea tuna melt (mine) was light, wonderful, and filling! My daughter loved her omelet - nice and fluffy, filled with the perfect amount of cheese and veggies. She said that she didn't want to offend me but proclaimed that the pancake was better than the ones I make... and I've made pancakes at home almost weekly since she was about 2yo! :D I was really looking forward to the po'boy sandwich, but the mushrooms were way too crispy for my liking. I'm not sure if that's how they're supposed to be or if they got left in the fryer for too long, but it was actually better as leftovers the next day after the mushrooms were able to soften up. Oh, we also picked up a slice of their six-layer rainbow cake (in celebration of Pride Month) and a maple bacon cupcake topped with their house-made rice paper bacon - a tribute to the Bacon brothers who were in town and performing at the theater directly across the street the weekend we were there. Each layer of the rainbow cake was a different fruit flavor - perfection! If you're debating about whether to go here or not, just go! Love It Vegan is a place you don't want to miss! My wife and I had a really delicious breakfast. We are not Vegan, but feel the food is easily comparable to any great breakfast place. We had the fat vegan omelette and the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a pretzel roll. The "bacon" and "sausage" is homemade and delicious. The home fries were fluffy inside with a delightful crisp crust. We weren't hungry but had to try the homemade blueberry lemon cake and it was worth it! Very friendly place.
