They/She is dismissive and unhelpful and doesn't seem to care you're there. It's just a weird vibe she puts off. She/They would rather be standoffish than engaging. I watched the interaction with other customers and realized it wasn't just me. At first I gave leeway to that fact that we all have bad days; so thought I'd check the yelp reviews and discovered it wasn't just me. Fortunately the guy in the cage notices this and gets you back on track; if not, seek him out. The counter employee isn't enough to keep me away from the shop, it truly is a landmark with great products. I'd just rotate that persons work position because their customer interaction skills are bad. Cashier guy is also friendly and nice! It may be intimidating to go into a place like that if you're a casual shopper for their stuff, but if you ask the questions you'll find what you're looking for. We all have levels of comfort in places we aren't familiar with. Anyway, check it out!

There is clearly a sadness lingering since the loss of a beloved staff member last September, and you can feel that grief in the walls. Upstairs, the boys were initially guarded but soon revealed themselves to be charming, helpful, and lovely company. Then I ventured downstairs. Reader, I was unprepared. Stationed below was what can only be described as a foul-tempered cryptid of retail legend: part bridge troll, part dungeon goblin, part tax auditor cursed by a leather witch. A creature so committed to hostility that one wondered if speaking caused it physical pain. It communicated mainly through glowers, sighs, and the kind of energy that makes houseplants wilt. The shelves were overstuffed, the glass cases looked as though they'd lost a bar fight, and the artisans sewing away did so in a silence so grim it felt monastic. This is not the Leatherman many of us know and adore. The place still has heart--but somewhere in the basement, a snarling mythical beast is guarding the gate and scaring the villagers. Free the dungeon. Restore the delicious mischief.
