This is my first yelp review and I urge you to take into consideration the other bad reviews. I wish I did as this was truly the most HORRIFIC haircut I have ever received. I ended up with multiple thick uneven layers, even though I went in for a simple trim. I had to get an emergency appt the next day because I could not be in public with this hair cut. It was so bad that you could even tell when it was in a pony tail. Making matters worse, the salon owner, Avi, was completely unprofessional and rude. I sent him photos and said that I was open to a discussion as to how to fix the situation, but would not be returning because I did not have extra layers of hair to risk on another disaster. Instead of offering some compassion and acknowledgement of his staff's poor job, he gave a lackluster sarcastic apology then proceeded to berate me over the phone. He refused to admit that the photos I sent (and provided below) were bad. He was adamant that if I had gotten a blow dry, it wouldn't look bad. Truly no amount of styling can account for a complete butcher job. I'm confident that my dog could have given me a better haircut. While the cut was bad, Avi was worse. He is a pretentious and condescending who refuses to admit when his staff has made a mistake. Again, I wish I read the reviews before going because my grievances seem to be shared amongst many others. Avi's aggressiveness and poor customer service are also demonstrated in other reviewer's posts as he is quite active, telling people it is their fault or to "move on." For someone who spends so much time responding to comments, maybe that energy would be better spent ensuring you provide quality service from the start. Do not bring your business here. read more

The receptionist has an attitude not sure why, and didn't make my experience welcoming at all. The hair wash girl was great. My haircut was done by Maryury. She did a good job and listened carefully to all my requests. Having said that I told her I am going to an event, but came home with frizz and an uneven blowout. I will have to fix it again before going to the event. Here are my issues, I think the cut was overpriced given they have so many great salons around them who give great discounts to first time customers or have different prices for different stylists. It didn't do anything to stand out for me or want me to go back. So go If you are in a rush and don't have a budget. Otherwise go find another Salon and stylist that make you excited about a haircut and make it a great day! read more

I came in for a haircut. My stylist pointed out my old (over 6mo) blonde highlights - said they were making my hair look washed out. He said he would be able to apply hair dye on the highlights to match my natural color. I was very impressed because all stylists before have always said they cannot match my strawberry blonde hair. It's a matter of principle that I don't write bad reviews. I always speak to the owner or manager so things can be rectified in a polite way. However, the owner stated, "I don't care if you write a bad review!" So here you are. I just paid over $600 for them to ruin my hair. No refund, no apology, no responsibility. One of the stylists damaged my hair to the point that half the length of my hair shaft broke off. Via text, I politely communicated with her, and she agreed to give me a complementary haircut to remove some of the damage. Most people would have been hysterical with such damage, but I did not yell or cry or get emotional. Hair grows out, so I just wanted to rectify things as much as possible. Yet after the haircut, which was not the length I prefer - but what choice did I have with such damaged hair - she told me I had to pay and if I didn't like it, I needed to speak to the owner! Incredible. Still speaking politely, I explained the situation to the owner. He stood over me and would not stop abusively lecturing me, as if it were my fault. I didn't engage him (it's never worth it with such people). When he finished, I told him -- again, politely -- that we had a difference of opinion, and that if something goes wrong and a client is not happy, at the very least he should try to rectify the situation. He said I needed to pay for the haircut and that he did not care if I wrote a bad review. So be it. I paid without arguing or speaking a word (why bother at this point?). And so, here's the bad review. Be forewarned. I was a client for years, but will never again set foot in the place. It's sad when people who work in the service industry only care about money, rather than ensuring that their customers are happy. In the event the owner responds to this review by saying that my name "is not recognized," denying I am a client as he has done to other who have written bad reviews on Google, let it be known that I went to Lovella Salon at 1302 Second Avenue. read more

I WISH I COULD LEAVE NEGATIVE STARS- DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I came in as a BLONDE looking for root touch up and blonde balayage- LEFT AS A BRUNETTE- not what I asked for. (see photos for awful color) my hair was ruined by AVI - who charged me $250 for 6 foils-insane. He walked away once the foils were on and gave me no information on how long I'd be waiting or what was going on. They washed my hair with ICE COLD water. No gloss, no balayage (which is what they charged me for) at all. Upon drying my hair and seeing the DARK BROWN results it was clear I was in shock and unhappy. "I told you you'd think it was black!"-avi well I didn't ask for black/brown hair with a few blonde ends. I left crying. Had to spend $500 at a real salon to fix what he did- they were in shock that he would do this to someones head. when I called and asked for my money back they said no we don't do refunds and said they'd call me back. they never called back. when I reached out again they said no refunds especially after you went to another salon. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE when I walked into the empty salon everyone was sitting down on their phones- no one looked up to say hello and welcome me in. The person was attentive, listened to my needs carefully and advised a low maintenance low cost solution which was contrary to the expensive idea I came in with.
