I love every hair cut I've had here! I got to Sunee/Sunny and she is absolutely amazing! Every single hair is cut at the perfect angle! And even when I ask for something that Sunee does not want to do...she does it! And...it's amazing!!! I travel 2 hours to get to my haircuts and if I move further away, i travel longer! Hi hi! So typically I don't leave bad reviews and, to be fair, perhaps I didn't know how protective I was over my hair; however, I really feel like I was not listened to when I was talking about what I wanted. I showed a little video which the hairstylist waved away and she constantly kept on wanting me to go shorter--telling me that I was short and, essentially, my hair was too long for my frame. She had me stand up to mark my hair (I never had this done, maybe this is normal?) and kept on inching shorter and shorter after I indicated I wanted my hair to be past my chest. Needless to say, I walked out with like half of my hair chopped off. It was much more of what she had envisioned for me and much less of what I requested. Towards the end, She asked how i felt about it and I clearly indicated I wasn't happy and then she argued with me about what i initially wanted. I feel like people go to a hair salon to walk out feeling beautiful and better than they initially walked in. I really did not feel that way. read more

My husband has been talking to me about cutting our daughter's hair and my Lil girl wanted to donate it but we never thought we were going to have to pay $70, specially when their webpage says children 10 years and younger pay $35. The hair stylist was nice but not $70 worth. Too expensive just because it has a French name, you are paying the location and the name. read more

Wilson is great! My friend recommended him to me, as he gave her a lot of tips on how to care for her hair, and what hair cut fits for the shape of her face. He did a lot of the same for me - so I have a lot of information I can take with me throughout my life. He's also really sweet - he got whatever magazines I wanted during a Kerastase treatment - and during my haircut we ended up talking about food the whole time! My haircut looked really cute when it was cut, and it fits my face really well. However I don't do much with styling my hair and it looks rather flat and plain when I just let it air dry. Also as an afterthought, its rather plain - I have a square face, so he gave me layers, kept it shoulder length as I mentioned I'm thinking about growing it out, and subtle bangs. I guess my last few haircuts I got a bob with a really sharp angle so it was always really drastic and obvious I'd just gotten a haircut. With this one most people didnt notice =(, and isn't that one of the best parts about getting your hair cut? The layout is interesting - you get your hair cut at tables with mirrors , rather than along the wall. I saw a lot of reviews with complaints about that - no idea why, as it really makes no difference on your hair cut. I don't mind either way. But it does have nice flow, is modern, and is something different. Also good service.. I got offered a drink immediately after I walked in, and only had to wait a few minutes. I came with the $40 groupon for a wash/treatment/blowdry, good deal as all that I think is normally over $100. I went in for a cut last Friday. I got my hair washed by a really nice woman, but she spent a little too much time trying to force products on me. When I use the word force, she didn't only mention them, but also put them in front of the mirror while the stylist cut my hair. The stylist looked a little annoyed, but continued working with me. I really enjoyed the advice the stylist provided to me. She simply advised that before investing in products, I focus on my wellness as a person first: eat well, stress less, etc. This was an excellent approach to take instead of throwing products in my face. I wanted a short cut that was all one length and a little below the chin. The stylist gave me an asymmetrical bob cut, which I do like very much, however it was not what I asked for. I will say I should have done a better job explaining what I wanted because all I did was show an image. But regardless, the cut came out beautiful. Next time I cut it, I will stress all for one length though. I found the receptionist exceptionally out of it. She didn't let me know that I couldn't add a tip with my debit card payment method and that I'd need to get cash from the ATM. I mean that's just a really nutty inconvenience, and I would've much tathered give the stylist the $5 I lost to the ATM and my bank for withdrawal charges from a third party machine. I wanted to focus on giving a very balanced review, just so this could benefit the salon as well as customers. I would say the negatives came from having products too heavily advertised, a complacent receptionist, inconvenient tipping, and a LITTLE miscommunication with the stylist. I think all of these issues can be resolved VERY simply. In no way did I leave the salon completely disappointed. I just think there's some professional development needed. What a wonderful salon! Angie did my balayage and she did a amazing job. Definitely see her for any coloring appointments. She knew I didn't want to go blonde but still have a summer glow. She did exactly what I wanted. The salon is high end and the day I came in they had a Wella specialist come to watch the stylists work on their customer's hair. They only use the best products such as Kerastase. Angie is a sweetheart and is very patient. I had jet black roots and dark medium brown dyed hair and she made it to a nice brown balayage framing my face. Definitely will come back for the monthly gloss and repairing damage hair treatments. After reading some of the reviews for this location on Yelp, I was real nervous about having my hair cut at the salon. I had also bought a Groupon for the Keratase treatment, haircut, and blow dry. I arrived a little early and had a chance to check out the salon. There were the tables that most of the Yelpers were talking about. I must admit if I didn't read about that off the reviews, I would have panicked. There was only one hair stylist working that afternoon along with the colorist. They were both very sweet and attentive. I had Cecilia and she was AWESOME! She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair, and then went straight to work on it. I went here two months ago, and got a strange attitude and a bad haircut from, sorry can't recall his name, an Asian guy. It never worked. The bangs were supposed to sweep to the side, but never looked right. He blew it out pretty straight and when I asked if I could put a little curve in it, he said "yes if you want to look like it's the '80s". Uh, OK. The stylist who fixed me up with my new cut showed me how the layers were totally uneven because he had cut it with a middle part, even though i always part it on the side. OK, first I want to point out this review is for highlights and an updo, no hair cutting involved! Why I ended up here: I got a last minute invite to go to the School of American Ballet Winter Ball on March 14, and I literally, in panic, called around to the hair salons close to where I live to get my highlights touched up as well as getting an updo, since it was a black-tie event! After 30 min of calling salons, and having no luck getting an appointment (this was the same day) I finally got to Jean-Claude, and was told I could come by in an hour....swooooosh (wiping sweat drops from my forehead) After an hour and a half I walked out with gorgeous highlights (by colorist Rada), and a fabulous updo (by stylist Cecilia), which may I ad, stayed put the entire night full of dancing like crazy (yeah I know it doesn't sound like a black-tie type of dancing, and it wasn't, people were going crazy :) ) Also, I really like the new, modern thinking in terms of how their stations are set up with oval tables instead of the regular boring stations like they have in most salons, love it!!! I went once, and now I'm hooked. Yann has consistently given me the best haircuts I've ever had. He understands how to balance an edgy look with the conservative style my job requires. I constantly get compliments at work and on the street. Highly recommend giving them a try! Making an appointment was a breeze and he was ready for me as soon as I got there. The salon itself is very clean and has a roomy, modern feel to it. The shampoo girls are wonderful and they use very high quality products (Kérastase). I've only had my hair shampoo'ed and blow dried here, and it was nice, reasonably priced. Place is super-clean, and service was nice enough.

I'm furious about being charged $160 for what I was told would cost $80 for highlights. The additional charges were $40 for glaze and $40 for blow dry. I've never been charged a separate or additional fee for blow drying my hair after color or cut. Are we supposed to leave with wet hair? As for the glaze, I was never asked if I wanted a glaze nor did I know a glaze was being applied. In my many decades of hair salon experiences I've never had this happen. I don't like being taken advantage of which is exactly what happened. I've read similar comments here concerning Biguine fraudulent charges and rip off practices. Beware of Biguine!!! read more

Can't begin to say how impressed I was. I've been going to the same person for my blonde for 6 years so I was very nervous to try someone new. Diane nicely squeezed me in at the end of the day. Even though I was the last client in there and it was 7 pm she took her time did not rush and made sure I was so happy. Why would you go to a place whose prices are clearly advertised and then complain about the prices in a review? So ok, yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. Not always, but in this place, that certainly is the case. Sonny (who is a gorgeous and super friendly/polite Thai woman) is an artist. You can tell she looks you over and has in mind what she wants you to look like when she is finished. She doesn't just dive right in and approach cutting hair from a once-size-fits-all perspective. I always walk in feeling like my hair looks limp and my face looks drawn and tired. When she gets done with me, I always look ten years younger and I am never less than ecstatic about the result. The salon has squeezed me in on several occasions and when Sonny didn't have time to do the color along with the cut (which happened twice), she teamed up with someone and both of them made sure I got the look I wanted. Everyone is friendly and polite. I am always offered coffee or tea (whichever I desire) and they give me these little plastic sleeves to protect my reading glasses while I am getting my hair colored. The shampoo usually includes a 5+ minute scalp massage. I had been telling my girlfriend about this place and she was skeptical. Last time, she came with me and was really impressed, especially with how everyone made me feel welcome, even though she was only there to hang out with me. read more

I knew my hair was damage from excessive extensions and hat to my hair. I knew I needed my hair to be treated with some TLC, and I was skeptical at first about my hair because my texture and pattern is a little different from others. I was met with Mila who did a consultation with my hair, and I'm one of those people where idc if you cut my hair, if it's damaged and needs to be treated then that's what needs to be done. I'm so happy with my cut!! She nailed it, and didn't cut too much where I can't style it a proper way. I'm going to keep coming back to her, because she said she will make my hair grow back healthy and full. My hair was damaged and thin. I love body to my hair, and she did that! It was Nadya's day off and Ludo was new to the salon. His blow-out: out of this world! After talking about his background (from France, owned his own salon and moved to NY for love,...aaah) we talked about color. Like the other reviewers, I bought the Groupon and that's why I ended up here. To me, this was a bit of a splurge because the Groupon for a cut and Keratase treatment was $45, and I usually get my hair cut in Chinatown for around $20. I didn't like this place at all! The whole experience was uncomfortable and awkward. The girl that cut my hair didn't tell me what was going on, so there were a lot of moments where I was just sitting there and then thought, "Oh, I guess if she's blow-drying her own hair now, I'm sitting here with the treatment on my head? I guess I should get myself a magazine? But I wonder how long this takes?" or the times when suddenly she was trying to rip the robe out from under my butt and I didn't know why so I kept moving the wrong way, and finally I just asked, "What are you trying to do?" and she said she's covering me with the robe. Oh........ My hair doesn't look bad, but this is definitely not the best it's looked either. There are things I said I don't like -- blunt ends, blunt and thick bangs, bangs that go straight across. And now I basically have more of those things than when I came in. She sort of cut side bangs, but she didn't ask me how much I wanted to cut off before she started cutting, and the short side is too short. It's also straight across for a few inches before making an angle. She also didn't cut some of the hair in my bangs that's further back on my head (if that makes sense) and said that part of hair should go to the side. I pointed out that it doesn't go to the side, it always falls forward, and asked if she would cut it. She protested, then said ok and cut something, but it was not that piece because I had to cut that part at home by myself. I also hated how she kept poking her fingers on my face when she was grabbing the hair on the side of my head. She got my eye once. To be clear, my hair does not look bad. But the whole thing was so unpleasant that I wanted to cry! The table set up is weird, the place was empty, no one spoke to me. I tipped maybe 10% on the full cost but I wish I had just left. When I was leaving and giving my Groupon number, the guy (owner? receptionist?) complimented me and said it looked good, but I just felt angry that he felt he had to say that to make me feel better! Why not just listen to me and give a good cut instead o insisting you've done what I wanted when I know you haven't? That would make me feel great! read more

The place is...odd. Instead of stations, it's set up like tables. I felt more like I was sitting next to a person at a trendy restaurant (minus food, of course) and they were snipping away at my locks and less like I was at a hair salon. Anyway, snip away that girl did (I don't remember her name). I asked her to make sure my bangs were side-bangs and not straight-bangs, she said she understood. Then I asked her to cut the part of my bangs that were poking me in the eye a bit shorter, so that they wouldn't do that. She said "OK" and with a big snip, managed to cut off the opposite end. So now my bangs look mangled, ridiculous, and nothing at all like I asked her. I probably could have done a better job myself, overall, really. I came here because I had a Groupon. I tipped on the full value, but I do not feel like it was worth it at all. Like the other reviewer said, unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Also, I feel like I should note that the only other customers I saw in the salon were, uh, older. Came in with total hair emergency (over darkened hair turned orange at home, need I say more?) and thanks to their talent - leaving like a movie star! Went here with my groupon like the other reviewers. My experience was definitely better than those experienced by fellow-yelpers! I was not asking for any major work done, just a simple trim and some work done on my growing-out bangs, which was why I felt a groupon would be OK for me to try out a new place. The salon is nice and clean; the table thing is a bit awkward. My stylist was still with a client when I arrived for my appt, so another girl did my shampoo and the kerastase treatment, and then my stylist came over to discuss my ideas and work on the cut. I was shocked to hear that the salon was a chain salon, and that it was right around the corner from me. The colorist is Diana, and she is *awesome*. I went there after I bought the Groupon and was very satisfied about it. I mean, where else in Manhattan can you get a kerastase treatment, a haircut and a blow dry for only $45. Plus the team of stylist is very charming. The setting with the tables in the middle is very modern. At first I didn't realize it but then I thought it was interesting. You can chat with other customers. The place is very bright and neat. I actually went back a second time for another promotion on highlights. I am very picky with highlights because I like to have very thin highlights otherwise it looks gross and not natural at all. The stylist did a great job, she was very precise and I am very satisfied of the result. She was also very nice and offered me a coffee as I was waiting for the color.
