This is a horrible job done

I work around the corner and decided to try for convenience, it was by far the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. I came in before needing to get my children and only had an hour for a fill In that usually takes 30-45min. All my nails were uneven I was bleeding and it burned. I had to go and said I would be back since the manager was unavailable. I went in twice before anyone could talk to me. When I came back the next time the "owner" was so rude and snatching my hands blaming me for my experience, it was unbelievable. I would not recommend this place at all. I'll make sure to pass the word along Replying to your response; actually I had a very Nice nail job done before I went to your shop. The nail tech hurt my fingernails and cut me numerous tImes. ALSO he put glue underneath my nails instead of following proper protocol. I carry a license as well in this I industry. So if you think I came in and the nail tech had to fix a poor nail job no I came in for a fill in and if he wasn't ready or confident in my nail length then he should of asked me to wait. NOW; YOU AS IN OWNER MANAGER, yes offered to fix and I did sit down to have you RUDELY fix you snatched my hand and treated me horribly!! YOU were the problem. YOU were rude. I will gladly post photos of the horrible job as well as the even worse job you did to try and "correct" your own nail techs job. Next time treat the customers respectfully!

My experience at lovely nails was awful. I didn't realize even how bad it was until I went to a couple other salons. I had dip with acrylic tip. Within 4 days, half the dip coating fell off of one nail. I went back to get it touched up. After spending 3 hours at the salon to get it redone (multiple mishaps), my nails looked really bad. Would not recommend. It was a while ago - around June 21 and definitely Lovely Nails on 106th and Michigan. I'm attaching 2 photos of the broken dip. A young lady did it the first time and a gentleman the second time. The young lady was on her phone while doing my nails. The gentleman said it broke because it was too little layering. He did a lot of layers but that made it look unnatural. He tried to fix the one nail and a couple others, but didn't correctly color match. So, he had to redo all nails and then wasn't careful. There was sand that stuck to the ones that were originally fixed so the nails were not smooth.

Visiting from Chicago and needed to fix my nails.... Lovely Nails is very clean and staff is beyond friendly. They fixed my broken nail which was a surprise to me because I had thought I was going to have to cut it. I really love the decor and the ambiance here. Staff also is well knowledgeable about nails and know exactly what they're doing. Will definitely come in again next time I'm in town!

We love lovely nails. Susan and Mabel are our favs. It is clean quick and everyone is very nice.

I love coming to Lovely Nails and have nothing but good things to say! They sometimes get very busy and it's better to make an appointment if you're going during peak times (weekends, etc). I normally get a gel mani and it always looks perfect. I have only ever had one incident recently where my nail chipped within a few days. I called the salon, went in, and they fixed it quickly free of charge, and made sure all my other nails were good to go as well - even adding an extra layer of gel coating to them all to make sure the issue doesn't happen again. I have been coming here for about two years and will definitely continue.

Lyn was amazing ...this is my first time here and I received a full set of acrylic nails if you do acrylic nails you know how hard it is to find a place that does them well lyn did an amazing job and their prices are really reasonable for a full set almond-shaped (most places charge extra for this shape) gel polish and she offered me the first time $5 yelp discount so it was $35+tip ....I was in and out within 30 minutes... however I will recommend to make an appointment because they do seem to have the regulars there and not that much staff at least on the day that I went mind you it was a Tuesday around 5 p.m.... I'm so happy I found this spot after having so many bad experiences at different salons recently this has been a breath of fresh air.. *****update***** so I have gone back there several times and every time I've had Lynn do my nails and I have been pleased, however just yesterday I went there and they seem to have hired some more staff and Lynn was busy with someone else so I got someone new, before she started to do my nails she started telling me how much it would cost .... mind you everytime I go there I get the same service but her cost was a little higher than what I normally pay and one of my biggest pet peeves of a nail shop is inconsistency in pricing so I told her every time I come here I pay X why are you charging me differently and then she asked me who do I get my nails done with when I come there and I told her Lynn so her response was I don't know Lynn is the owner so maybe she gives you a discount and then she called Lynn over there so then she started talking directly to Lynn in Vietnamese and Lynn said this is what she charges I'm sorry and I said I guess I don't understand don't you guys have set prices and she said well each technician gets paid on commission and that's what she wants to charge.. but for today we can do it at the price that you normally do it at and if I do your nails I can do it at that price but going forward you would have to pay this new price if you use her.... I responded I'm sorry I'm not looking for a discount and I'm not looking for pity or any favors I just like to go into a nail shop and pay the same price for the same service every time ... I would pay more to a nail shop for consistency... I also told her I stopped going to my other nail shop for the same reason.... she just said I'm sorry each nail technician because they get paid on commission they can charge whatever they want... I told her okay that's fine it's not fair for the customers to have to deal with different prices because the technician wants to get more Commission on the customers expense Lynn was very polite but really didn't know what else to say...so I got up and left and went to another nail shop that I loved!! however it's too bad they lost me as a customer ... the funny part is I found out that girl actually left nail lounge to work for lovely nails...nail lounge was the nail shop I used to go to and stopped going there because their inconsistency in prices. So it's up to you ...they do good work as long as you are ok with price inconsistency

I decided to get my nails done, and after a bunch of other salons had a long wait time I decided to try Lovely Nails. I was getting a full set with gel. At first, I was pretty impressed because he made sure he put all my nails on straight, and he actually cut them the perfect length(I like them short). I have huge bubbles in my polish and the polish itself is painted on very carelessly. I already want to go get them repainted somewhere else and I just got them done today.

Gel manicure with OPI Bubble Bath. My real nails.

For me, Rose-Dore is in the Goldilocks zone for hair cuts. Nan has been my stylist since I started coming here, and she always does a great job! My hair is wavy to curly depending on the humidity level, and can be a disaster if cut wrong (see previous note on giving up on the quick, super-inexpensive chains). She also gives me no grief about waiting way too long at times to come in for a cut, and also no grief about not coloring away the gray. I'm too lazy/low maintenance to deal with roots...so figure it is better to just stay natural...(see previous note about stuffy higher-priced salons). The atmosphere is really relaxed and prices are very reasonable. Same week appointments are typically available. Rose-Dore is a great northwest side option for a relaxed, no-nonsense, but high-quality hair cut!

UPDATE: This Review Got Me Banned from Rose-Dore. You Can…read moreStill See The Note behind The Receptionist's Desk which says "Do Not Make Appointments for Jon F_____." Now they don't permit any stylists to cut my hair, lol. Very immature business practice-- 1. Provide unsatisfactory service, 2. Ban any customer that leave a negative review 3. Do not, under any circumstances, contact unsatisfied customers after giving them the "Trump" haircut. Do not ask them about their experiences, or how to improve. At Rose Dore, we rush the customer out because we've got more hair to cut! Just to clarify the above policy at Rose Dore, what I'm saying is that Rose Dore's business practice is below average. In the past several years, I have written 2 other negative reviews, and those companies left a concerned comment under my review about my experience. The above post-it is obviously in response to this negative review I wrote, because that note went up right after I published this review (and not right after my latest haircut)... -- My first experience was great. Nikki Young was great. 5 stars all the way! I continued seeing Nikki until she moved. She no longer works there, and my next experience was great as well. Emily. 5 stars again! I was told that Emily (I think) is the one who cuts men's hair, and she did a perfect job. That was December 9th, 2014. Then I went in and set up an appointment again in March. This time, I was told that they ALL cut men's hair. So Stephanie ended up cutting my hair. She'd been working there 35 years. Got in my car. Looked at it in the mirror. It looked awful. I felt so embarrassed I couldn't even go into Starbucks. It looked like a rushed drill sergeant cut my hair. I have photos of this haircut in case anyone believes I'm making this up. In fact maybe I'll post them in this review. There was a section above one ear that was clipped very short and looked like the clippers were used there and then stopped. I drove back and showed her the section. I said that she can just cut it all short if necessary. She said "That won't be necessary," and she cut both sides short, blended it better, then gave me a mirror. It was now short on the sides and long on top and in the back. I suggested she cut the back shorter to match the length of the sides. I already felt sick going in to tell her it had to be fixed, but I did pay her and also tipped her 20%, so felt I deserved to have a decent haircut. After the "fix," I just wanted to leave, because Stephanie said, "Okay, now it looks better." without asking for any confirmation. I felt like I was being picky, but it wasn't getting fixed and I didn't know how to tell her that it looked TERRIBLE. In the end I gave up and left, deciding that I'll pay someone else to try to fix it. When I got home I took another look. One sideburn was an inch lower than the other sideburn. I fixed that. Easy. Though it is telling how someone could miss that. Maybe she's great at cutting women's hair--maybe she just doesn't know how to cut men's hair. My friend Meredith said that maybe her eyes aren't very good. Maybe she forgot her glasses or contacts the day she cut my hair. I'm not trying to insult anyone, I'm just trying to explain this. All I know is it looks ridiculous and I have photos. I can't understand how a person can cut hair for 35 years and not take one last look at the overall haircut and notice a chunk that's cut shorter than the rest of the hair, or looking straight on, notice that one sideburn is so much different from the other (the hair was not only lower, but longer... one sideburn was taken care of, and the other was not). Also if you glance at any part of it, it has a long tuft here and there peeking out from the surrounding short hair. In addition to that, she asked me if I ever used "product" in my hair. I stated that Nikki Young (who used to cut my hair) had used Aveda Pure-formance for men, and I loved that product so much I bought it myself, but aside from that, I hate product and very rarely use any product at all. Despite my saying this, Stephanie used American Crew Fiber (which I hate...it's like putting glue in your hair). I'd advise against getting your hair cut there if you're a guy, unless you can get Emily. Be sure you tell them Emily (or Stephanie... maybe it's Stephanie. Either Stephanie is the horrible one and Emily is the great one, or Emily is the horrible one and Stephanie is the great one. Now I don't remember). The owners of Rose Dore do not care to find out about my experience. I'm just a customer. I'd rather have Donald Trump's hair than the messed up disaster she gave me at Rose Dore. What's telling is that after posting this review, not only did no one reach out to me to correct their error or inquire about my experience, but also a glowing review popped up 7 days after my review was posted. That review was written by Michellene, the daughter of the owner of Rose Dore...
