I was a part of a wedding where they did makeup. The ladies were very kind and the makeup of the bride and fellow bridesmaids was awesome. Unfortunately I had to provide my own foundation as the makeup artists didn't have anything for darker skin tones. It made me feel othered and a bit like a nuisance. I know this is a common issue in the makeup industry but considering how diverse Houston is, I thought they would be able to do my makeup. I would recommend if you pass the paper bag test. read more

Love everything about the Hey Lovely team! They were very accommodating and did an excellent job during my trial and the day of. I especially appreciate that they came out to my house 2 weeks after hurricane Harvey hit in order to do my trial run. The day of was a bit hectic... as far as our timeline went. The ladies who did the bridal party hair and make-up were great! Chelsea did mine. We had three artists for eight ladies, and they completed everyone in about three hours. I was able to have a trial with Chelsea and she tested everything out to ensure I would look perfect for the big day. I highly recommend! read more

I am a professional photographer, and I stand by Erica all the way. I hire her frequently for my clients, and she is so good at the natural/soft/romantic makeup look. She puts my clients as ease, and is very attentive to their needs and knows what works well for the camera. All of the girls felt absolutely beautiful, and one of my friends remarked that it was the prettiest she had felt in a very long time. They truly live up to their name of "lovely"! The good 1. Her rates were comparable if not more affordable than other makeup artists who offer "on-location" services. 2. I didn't look terrible on my wedding day, just OK. I've definitely had better experiences. 3 Her assistant (Deanna?) is super sweet and did an awesome job with my hair! The bad 1. She does not promptly return emails. I had to request a response after waiting a week or more to hear back from her-requesting contract paperwork, confirming a deposit was received, scheduling appointments, etc. multiple times. 2. Maybe she was having a bad day, but she seemed almost disinterested/annoyed to be doing my makeup on my wedding day. Very little warmth and friendliness. Several comments with attitude...Doesn't make you feel like you look beautiful/your best. 3. Like I commented before, the makeup was just eh. She seemed rushed and didn't pay attention to detail. She didn't review the look I was going for prior to starting and didn't ask my opinion throughout the process. She did ask how I liked it when she was finished then made a sarcastic comment along the lines of "Its your wedding." In several of my photos, I noticed eyelash glue! Didn't even go over the false lash line with liner...even I know to do that. Eyeliner didn't look professional. Had to ask her to retouch blemishes. I don't think she took into account that flash photography would be coming into play. 4. She charged me for her valet parking at the hotel without discussing prior. Valet was not required at the hotel and really expensive! Street parking was available. She had a meeting to attend at the hotel afterwards anyways... Minor annoyance compared to the attitude I felt during the session. 5. Deanna did a great job with my hair BUT it was nothing like the photos I showed her. The modern, messy bun I requested became more of a romantic, loose updo. Not bad, just different. Still looked great! Why didn't I complain the day of? I was too exhausted and stressed out to put up a stink. Just writing this review to share what I experienced in retrospect. Maybe I'm being hyper critical, but I feel like the money you spend on professional services affords you that privilege. I've had much better service and results at my local Sephora here in Austin! *Shoutout to Blue-you're amazing!* In sum, if you want special treatment and a little more attention, perhaps try another artist. Hey Lovely was amazing from start to finish. I had a 8 bridesmaids so there was a lot of fuss (and some downright rude from my 'maids) in the room when we were getting ready and Sara and Jess handled it with such grace and professionalism. Their work was STUNNING and held up through Houston weather (it rained, was sunny, was cold, and was humid within the hour of the ceremony time and photos - oh, Texas). I actually tested Jess' skills after my trail by going for a run and to boxing in July. They TOTALLY held up and looked near flawless. I am just so very pleased with everything and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for hair and make-up wizards! read more

As another reviewer stated, the prices are reasonable. That's the thing, you get what you pay for here, definitely. Erica was nice but seemed fake or put on. Her makeup application skills were mediocre, at best. I felt like I had hardly anything on and my eyeshadow wasn't even blended right! I don't think the foundation was a good match either. It was fine inside but once we went outside, it was not pretty. This company does airbrushed makeup but for the quality of everything else, I'd say you're better off at sephora. It was nice to have someone come to us though. Hair on the other hand was great. The girl did exactly what I asked for and it stayed for the better part of the night. read more

These ladies are amazing. My sister had to reschedule her wedding at the last minute, and they showed up a day early with only 2 hours notice. Even on such short notice and on a much shorter timeline, they did an amazing job on our hair and makeup and were so sweet and upbeat and helpful, even offering to send their boyfriends out to buy champagne! We all looked stunning, and Brenna styled my hair exactly how I wanted it done. Brenna also cut and colored my hair earlier in the week and I absolutely love how it looks. A woman stopped me in a restaurant and asked to take a photo of my hair because she loved it so much - that's never happened to me before! Can't recommend Hey Lovely highly enough. read more

The makeup artist was super nervous and the 3 makeup done, left much to be desired, they were very basic and poor! really did not seem a makeup from $ 100. The company returned the money we had paid for the hair (of course... the hair stylist never arrive!)
